- Designer Emilia Wisniewski of Studio 1Nine1 takes you behind-the-scenes of this dramatic condo makeover in downtown Toronto. See how she completely overhauled the small space with clever storage solutions, like adding an L-shaped peninsula in the kitchen, a wall of illuminated built-ins in the living room and a dreamy closet in the principal bedroom. To capture the homeowner's personality, Emilia painted the wall in the dining room a moody green and adorned her bedroom wall with a metallic wallpaper that packs a punch. Emilia knows how to do small spaces! She never disappoints.
Finally, a realistic makeover for people who don’t have massive houses. I wish the client had agreed to the blue instead of green, but the entire condo looks fab. The kitchen and bathroom in particular are fantastic! I also love the wallpaper in the bedroom.
Beautiful relaxed, entertaining space! Kudos to homeowner who added her creative touches...a real HOME.

dlwatib, at 3:57 you can compare it to the black lamp shades and there is some distinction in color. I would like to have seen the view with the lamps on.

This is honestly one of the best small apartment makeovers that I've ever seen. Not only did Emilia find a way to make the space super functional with added storage, she somehow managed to open up all the areas and make it seem so much larger than it did initially. I absolutely love the aesthetic of the forest green wall, the wallpaper in the bedroom, and the stark white entertainment unit with the built in room for the additional seating to get it out of the way, was a stroke of brilliance. I think what I love most is that it still feels like the place is a reflection of her client - in other words, it isn't bland and boring like a lot of modern builds or designs. I love that the wood used throughout is different yet complementary and that there are still hints of personal taste - when Emilia said, "the space is calm and serene but also a reflection of her personality" that is the absolute perfect way to sum up the makeover. My mind is seriously blown!

@@b3at2 sounds about right, 50k for the contractors and 50k for the designer.
There's a lot you can do on a budget :factory direct kitchen stuff is way cheap, or just a paint job, or contact paper as stop gap til you can afford new worktops etc. New t bar handles for my kitchen were £1.09 each online & bought it right up to date. Changing dark furniture with white paint & swapping dark accessories for lighter etc makes a massive difference re making it feel spacious. Offcuts of lino for small spaces are also mega cheap online.
@@sarahholland1375 If cheap and cheerful is what you want, you can do for a couple of thousand max but it's OK too . But I think what most people here are talking about is carefully designed make over with quality craftsmanship and good (not necessarily top-of-the-line) materials that will last a decade or more.

Emilia is and will always be the GOAT!!! I'm always amazed at what she can do with either a small space or and or a small budget. She manages to make either scenario look SUPER luxurious too.

I just love the subtlety and the drama of the whole space. subdued color esp that dark green wall but with touches of colors. whoa! also, i like her look as well with the platinum hair and pixie cut! you can tell she's excited to show you the space! GOOD ENERGY!

AMAZING! The wow factor, is this small space has become DIVINE! What space there is has been MAXIMIZED by the way it is now layed and out utilized, and by the awesome usefulness and perfection of what was used in each space. This attention to detail, is it something you must be a House and Home designer to manage? I think so! I am SHOCKED by the before and after, but I don't have the VISION to get there on my own, that is what I consider MOST VALUABLE in these House and Home renovation videos!!!

Some interior designers are too egoistic to work on small unglamorous projects; this designer seems to enjoy using her talent to transform small living spaces into functional and aesthetically pleasing ones. Very impressive.
When I move into my condo, I will definitely be hiring a designer. In the past, I have wasted so much time, energy, money trying to do it all myself and in the end, never happy. I'm going to invest the money in a designer and get it right the first time. What a beautiful condo. This designer is very talented.

I don't see a hole strategically cut into the glass so she can turn on the water without first getting wet (from cold water)...saw it in another TH-cam video and thought it was a terrific idea. Now, speaking from experience....I appreciate the hole and don't have to get blasted by cold water. Loved this little place! The restyling issues were rather small but had a huge impact, particularly the paint color choices. Nicely done.

Also, love the quick 'before' shots per section instead of one long 'before'-introduction beforehand - so you can easily see what changed and why. So many interior/architecture videos do it wrong which makes you need to skip and reverse the video but you guys nailed it with the video editing.

I remember this designer from a makeover video a while back, it was amazingly designed. This is too very nicely done, simple, with lots of hidden storages, make it looks minimalist even if you have lots of stuffs.
Practical, yet beautiful. Most important, you can really live in this space without ever keeping it picture perfect. Personally, I need more storage in the bedroom and the bathroom.
