When I read 'A Clockwork Orange', I struggled in the beginning with the slang used in the narrative. However, a few dozen pages in, I didn't even notice it. I'm wondering if you had a similar experience with 'Wuthering Heights'. Was there a point where the struggle gave way to just being immersed in the story?
Good question. With Wuthering Heights it was somewhat like that, but I think other elements of the book contribute in making it more difficult to read and understand. In my review of Wuthering Heights, I mention how there are many characters and that the writing style is that of older literature. The book has its own aura, I feel.
I think 'the righteous mind' by Jonathan Haidt would be an interesting read for you. I read it in the beginning of the year and loved it. and yeah, wuthering heights is an absolute masterpiece.
I do. At the moment i’m finishing university so my content isn’t as consistent, nor am I prioritising as much conversations or philosophy content. Though, once I finish in 3 or so months, I will get back to having guests on more frequently (those of which will include muslims). Cheers!
Nice picks James, cheers. Happy new new year.
