This is my third time watching this, it just doesn't get any better in this sport than this match. Absolutely incredible tennis, & Medvedev stayed toe to toe with Nole right up to the final point. Daniil has so much potential, I really hope he has the mental discipline to take his game to the next level.

This is why I feel Medvedev is Novak's biggest threat to winning the Australian Open, or any tournament for that matter when he's fully fit and mentally strong. At 24, nearly ten years younger than Novak, it stands to reason Medvedev will feel the pace far less. That said, both will still have to play at a very high and consistent level and get past some very difficult players, before even facing each other. Of the next gen, Medverdev is the real deal in my opinion.
100% agree. It's the mental game that sets the big 3 apart over the last 20 years. You got fit guys out there but mentally they can't Hack. Medved's tactics wear on your brain after a while, only the big 3 dont wilt and have the firepower to challenge him.

Daniil shrank mentally and was completely outclassed on the ground.

He earned this mark of acknowledgment through his 22 match winning streak up to the final. Even Novak said Medvedev was the man to beat and deservedly so. I did not say he'd win because Novak doesn't roll over for anyone. And as you say, Novak completely dismantled Medvedev game, physically and more significantly, mentally. If you can demonstrate why Medvedev, now the new no.2 in the world, deserves a 😆 from you, I'm all ears pal.

@@bitanmandal977 There's no point. Novak is leading the h2h 29-27 and it pretty much depends on the surface now. Novak hasn't beaten Rafa on clay since 2016 and Rafa hasn't beaten Novak on hard since 2013. Rafa has also not beaten Novak on grass since 2008.
