It’s easy to forget how amazing Thiem was, i feel like tennis desperately needs him back on top again
When he was on, he could beat anyone, just like the old wawrinka.

None of the existing single handers have that destructive backhand Thiem unloads! In this match he subdues Djoker with the bazooka routinely and Djoker has one of the best double hander in the business!
That was probably the most emotional and high quality match I've ever watched in my life.

This was Dominic’s 2nd biggest match win in his 2020 Season after won the final at the US Open 2020.

This is why I like Novak. Everytime Thiem comes up with the goods, or constructs a perfect point, Novak shows him the respect applause.
I love that Djokovic fans are not toxic against Thiem defeating him he's one of the nicest guys out there so calm not unnecessary celebrations aesthetically pleasing to watch and has one hell of a backhand
Probably because he's not one of Djokovic's biggest rivals.
If Nadal or Federer beat him then you'll see some toxicity.
When Alcaraz beats him they get quite toxic, since he's now Djokovic's main rival, even though he's a nice guy also.
This shows how good you have to play be beat djokovic and also how much of a weapon one handed backhand can be.

It did but expecialy because he is using his whole power in those backhands he got injured, and he will have more problems in future with that hand, he just have some sort of unusual style and using his whole energy in one shot, too powerful, but it will cost him earlier than you think

The likes of Tsitsipas cannot play like Thiem. He's incredibly accurate and a big hitter!

Thiem and Wawrinka... the two most cannonball one-handed backhands I've ever seen... I give the slightest of edges to Wawrinka's, but when they're on, they are both things of sheer ferocious, powerful beauty.

@Lazar Pajić It depends in what. Power, beauty - Thiem has him there BUT Nole just never misses and has better accuracy. (Which is why the third set tie break was like WTF?! when he missed so many backhands in a row.)
Thiem of course has a way better backhand down the line , novaks backhand is just better overall.
@Lazar Pajić it is. because novak just uses his down the line backhand to redirect the ball and start setting up a point slowly, thiem rips it to go down the line for winners and aggression, that's what he means

Brutal performance from Thiem, the last best match I've ever seen. Only Nadal was able to play that way.
Never seen Nadal play with such consistent power off both wings, and especially on a hard court. Probably only Wawrinka on his best day comes close to replicating such power
2022 tennis season is gonna be potentially one of if not the most interesting tennis seasons ever, the big three tied up at 20 slams, Roger and Nadal back, Djokovic playing after a near calendar slam season, thiem back, the "next gen" getting a slam and looking to grab more and shift momentum towards them and away from the big three, etc. It's gonna be interesting to watch fs

Thiem's last top performance before totally disappeared in 2021. He is the only player who can beat Djokovic twice in a row at ATP Finals (2019 & 2020). Really looking for his come back.

What I liked about thiem was he had equal amount of power in his backhand like a strong forehand with too much artistry, I mean after federer, i saw a player of that quality who tinkers with art. Tennis is sometimes brutal, hope to see him back again in that level. Diffetence between alcaraz and him is, he is eye pleasant to watch
It's a shame what has happened to thiem, a point where he was widely regarded as the Next big thing from fans a like due to his credible wins against all the big 3. But injuries and his vigorous playstyle between 2018-2020 have taken its toll and now he looks like becoming the biggest what if player since delpo

Novak is an unexciting player to watch. He stands back and just hits the ball back. He lacked intensity, in this match, and that is why he lost it. Let him lose.

He had the US Open wrapped up and ready for him and he completely fell apart. He should have won the Calendar Slam but instead he was reduced to tears. Don't call him the goat of he chokes! And while I'm on here, relish your French Open victory. That trophy will be held, once again and for the 14th time, by Nadal! There will be a reckoning.

Tennis is like this..it's not a team sport ..it's individual..you can wake up matchday feeling aggressive and super confident and it translates to what you play on court that day. Other days you can wake up not feeling it..body lethargic and it must show on court ..so cut them some slacks..they are human

Amazing display by Thiem here... Its very very difficult to take the match from Novak if he is up 4-1 in the tie-break... But Dominic has some brutal hitting skills.... Novak looked a bit slow here though.. Perhaps was not feeling his best. But may be it was Dominic's skills which made him look slow... The game needs this guy... An amazing talent to watch.

Dominic thiem, the only man of next gen has power and talent to beat Djokovic flawlessly and with complete dominant... sometimes it seems like Thiem is unbeatable.
Kind of a bold statement after Medvedev beat him in USO and Zverev in the Olympics.
Problem with Thiem was (and probably still is) that he plays a bit unconsistently. Against the big 3 he always seems special motivated and on top of his game, but against players ranked around 50-100 or below, he quickly loses focus and then also the matches. And 2021 wasn't his year for sure. Wasn't his best Australian Open and after that his confidence was gone. The injury was just the icing on the cake for that plagued year from his view point
@@Dark_VoiceMedvedev plays and won but not so much dominant and intense like Dominic Thiem is. Thiem likes to play with a lot of top spin and power quite similar like Rafael Nadal.

Zverev is a talent that play highly aggressive tennis and makes the match about him like Roger.
Thiem plays a lot of spin and great claycourter like Rafa.
Medvedev plays efficient, not really good looking or showy BUT effective, tennis with brains to back it up like Nole.

Novak with the biomechanical effectiveness of his movement, against Thiem who seemed to be putting too much weight on his hands.
Today novak is still physically strong and mostly injury free, while thiem has a serious injury that has ruined his career.
