@@jonathanmedcraft928 Rafa could not play his style of game with a wooden racket... I also think Rafa is mentally stronger. The first time Borg got seriously challenged, by McEnroe, he packed up his bags and departed stage left...
Actually, that was partly my point that Rafa could not play with a wooden racket - the game has moved on in so many ways. As for Borg’s mental strength, well most people including McEnroe thought that Borg would fold after having lost the tie break in the Wimbledon final, but then Borg came back to win the 5th set. Of course, after having won 11 Grand Slams, Borg ran out of ambition and retired at the very young age of 25 or so. Still, I like both Borg and Nadal so nothing more to add really.
@@jonathanmedcraft928 The thing is a lot of pundits think that Borg realised that McEnroe, in the long term, was too big a threat and decided to call it quits. However I will concede him winning Roland Garros and Wimbledon back to back for 5 straight years will probably never be repeated...
That’s his trademark.... NEVER SAY DIE attitude...👏 He won’t stop playing hard, winning or losing, his tough kind of play is still d same...never give up till d last point...👏👏👏 As I remember during 2019 US Open championships between Rafa and Medvedev, in d 5th set Rafa was leading in 5-2 but Medvedev rallied to win 2 more games. Lo increible es que andujar siguio jugando bien, no se derrumbo. Tuvo 8 sets points. Tremenda fuerza mental de rafa de ir punto por punto sin ver el marcador.
How entertaining :) Andujar had in every game some set points against Nadal. Nadal had to fight very hard for every game. And only when they are at 5-5 Andujar wins the next game and we see a Tie Break. Wow and thank you for the show. Both players^^
Wow that is one thing i like about RAFA he never gives up, every single apponent he plays he has great resspect for and he knows that anyone can beat him, so he plays everyone in the same way! he gives it his all, and thats why i like this guy so much because he respects everyone! and plays his heart out!!! RESPECT RAFA NADAL amazing player i mean really!
I still remember this Australian Open 2001 semi final match between Sebastien Grosjean and fellow countryman Arnauld Clement very well. www.espn.com/tennis/aus2001/news/2001/0125/1041182.html
If it was someone else, he would have let the opponent win to save energy but Rafa is different! He'll never give up until he knows that there's still a possibility to win. That's called a FIGHTING SPIRIT!!!
From a score perspective, it doesn't matter so much how many points / games your opponent has. At the end you still need to win 6 or more games in order to win a set. It's incredible how Nadal was able to keep focus and not let it get to his head.
Reminds me of a time I did that myself; 5-1 40-0 down, I managed to rally to 6-6, but I lost the tiebreak 7-2, hehe. Massive respect to Rafa for being able to pull through where it counts
Andujar could’ve ended it a couple times but it was clear Nadal was very much in his head… Nadal chases down balls at the bet that most people would just accept they lost the point. He knows if he gets to it that close to the net he has opponent dead to rights. Absolutely amazing match to watch.
I cannot even imagine what it’s like trying to return his ground strokes with the insane amount of topspin he uses. Someone should get a super high speed camera to get the ball as it passes over the net. It won’t be spherical, that’s for sure. It’s got to be ovoid from the crazy amount of spin. Plus his court coverage on clay.... everything you throw at him comes back at you every time, clearing the net by six feet and then rocketing off the surface so if you’re even the tiniest bit late you’ll be trying to return it up by your neck. I grew up in the Borg era and Rafa reminds me so much of Borg (obviously making adjustments for the fitness requirements of today plus the racquet technology). Rafa plays every point 1000 percent, doesn’t get psyched out by his opponent, doesn’t care about the score. Borg was the same way. Losing the marathon tie-break to McEnroe at Wimbledon 1980 would have mentally crushed any other player but Borg just let it go and played the next set and won. Mentally Borg and Nadal were very similar and stylistically their games were similar as well. By the way my pick for GOAT is Federer but I’ve got to say Rafa is right up there too. What an incredible tennis player.
And they call Federer a choker for losing 1 set point to Nadal in the 1st set of the 2011 French Open final. lol. 8 set points saved here, amazing. I never even heard of this match before. Thanks uploader.
I was hopping that kind of miracle last time with tsisipas on the last set. Nadal was so tired, and he couldn't win neither a point with tsisipas service. But so many times players have to play a lot of game points against him if they want to win the match to Nadal at the very end. And even tsisipas at that time was a little worried, he wanted to really finish that game as soon as possible.
Even crazier is that a lot of the games after trailing 1-5, 0-40 were hard fought back & forth games. You would think a player would get hot and domintate to come back and win the set. It shows just how much he battles and wears his opponents down...UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Of course I never played in those levels but that happens a lot in high ranked competitions when you are like 16. I was much better at comebacks than I was at maintaining the lead
For sure. Everyone knows that could happen against Nadal xD
Well, I never heard of this guy
after that
So the answer to the original
question is: NO
I’m a Rafan forever 🎾❤️🇪🇸 Vamos !!
Roger Federer will always be my favorite male player but I must admit if I had to pick one player to play for my life from that situation it would be Rafa especially on clay.... I don't think there has ever been a more ruthless, in a good way, competitor than Rafa Nadal...
Rafa is on clay with no doubt the best player ever
Well Borg won 6 titles at Roland Garros so he might have given Nadal a challenge if they both had to play with the old style wooden rackets.
Greatest fighter in the history of the sport ❤️
The scary thing is Andujar didn't really do much wrong 😳
That’s his trademark....
NEVER SAY DIE attitude...👏
He won’t stop playing hard, winning or losing, his tough kind of play is still d same...never give up till d last point...👏👏👏
As I remember during 2019 US Open championships between Rafa and Medvedev, in d 5th set Rafa was leading in 5-2 but Medvedev rallied to win 2 more games.
But Rafa didn’t give up and still in focus to win...
Rafa really is worth watching to watch...👏
Oh mí dios que remontada, en ese partido Rafa estuvo en modo dios literal, hermoso video suerte para tus próximos videos 👍🇦🇷
That completely unneccessary slow motion at 3:42 killed me xD
No one can come back from that except the great Rafa
i did it two weeks ago! lol
gordon mather In Play station?
doubles league. is it easier or more difficult to do it in doubles? i say more difficult of course.
gordon mather which level are we talking about?
a bit below nadal!! right now i'm owning the 1st 4 letters of his name
“Hello 911, I’d like to report a robbery”
Lolololol
Lo increible es que andujar siguio jugando bien, no se derrumbo. Tuvo 8 sets points.
Tremenda fuerza mental de rafa de ir punto por punto sin ver el marcador.
From federer fan ..
Really incredible...very strong mentality....👍
Warrior, real warrior
El Matador ❤ I remember this game like yesterday 😢
Nadal and Federers calm mentality is why they’re the greatest of all time. To be able to come back like this takes pure perseverance and confidence.
He visto mucho tenis en mi vida pero una remontada así... JAMÁS, si no he contado mal ha salvado 7 puntos de set 😱, para la historia.
Este tío es increible!
He did the same last year against medvedev in the atp finals, when he was 1-5 down with 30-40 match point for medvedev!
How entertaining :)
Andujar had in every game some set points against Nadal.
People have lost from match points in championships. That one point makes the difference sometimes. Great effort by Rafa.
I still remember this Australian Open 2001 semi final match between Sebastien Grosjean and fellow countryman Arnauld Clement very well.

You know you're screwed when Nadal doesn't grunt. He's all serious business 😅
Perseverance at its best!
He just doesn’t wanna lose a set!! Great effort Rafaaaaa
And imagine for Andujar . “For Set” keeps on flashing before him but Nadal just keeps hustling.
He's a god of long rallies. And he's almost perfect in returning serves. Yes, he's technically invincible, on clay in particular.
Its just so good
Nadal healthy in clay under hot and sunny conditions is unbeatable at RG
At 6:42 we can see Rafa using his magic powers to break the time and space and make his rival leave the ball in the net.
What a wonderful technique
FANTASTIC! The moment of the match, for sure.
Nadal's favorite show was on that night. He didn't feel like going into a fourth set.
Gran ejemplo a seguir, nunca se rinde hasta el final 🙏🏽❤️‼️
Reminds me of a time I did that myself; 5-1 40-0 down, I managed to rally to 6-6, but I lost the tiebreak 7-2, hehe. Massive respect to Rafa for being able to pull through where it counts
I call BS
@@willvay9439 good for you
did the same
Andujar could’ve ended it a couple times but it was clear Nadal was very much in his head… Nadal chases down balls at the bet that most people would just accept they lost the point. He knows if he gets to it that close to the net he has opponent dead to rights. Absolutely amazing match to watch.
Vamos Rafael .os dejo gracias por Vuestro Trabajo.y vuestro Equipo
Que grande eres Rafael Nadal como deportista y como Persona 👏👏👏
I have done the same when I was child
I can’t imagine how it’s could be difficult during a professional match !
Andujar probably shat himself when he realized what the score was and didn't want to change shorts 😂
Ok
He is consistent, he is a fighter, he is so humble, his tennis is out of this world. He is the best of all time
Amazing,,,,,seen a lot of players just let the set go and go for the next set. Nadal is a true fighter
Unbelievable recover from Nadal, a pleasure to watch this video.
Nadal es un jugador único para hacer ese tipo de remontada
Lot of pros just take it easy and ready for 4th set mentally then there is another breed called Beast, Nadal belongs there
He is as tenacious as they come, one of the most dominant athletes in any sport ever
Everyone : This 3rd set is come to an end...let's move to 4th set
Nadal : It's end when I say it's end...😡
This is same andujar who won against Federer in Geneva couple of days back
This is mind over the body fight
Very interesting....thanks for uploading!
He’s on clay was it ever in doubt? 😂
Sure, I would have closed that out. 4th set.🤔
And they call Federer a choker for losing 1 set point to Nadal in the 1st set of the 2011 French Open final. lol. 8 set points saved here, amazing. I never even heard of this match before. Thanks uploader.
The greatest of all time with Roger of course up to now....
Grand Slams are important but they are not everything

Pete Sampras is.
@Chief Beef no, what's with chief beef! I know the greatest tennis player ever is Pete Sampras but I don't know what is chief beef.
Indomitable spirit
Lol at this point at RG Nadal's just doing all the side-missions.
Wimbledon 2022 will be his 🏆🏆🏆
Magic mentality. Beyond amazing
These comebacks need two things for them to happen. One side that considers the set already won, and the other side being "I'm gonna make him run".
Even crazier is that a lot of the games after trailing 1-5, 0-40 were hard fought back & forth games. You would think a player would get hot and domintate to come back and win the set. It shows just how much he battles and wears his opponents down...UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Nadal survived no less than 8 set points
It is true that, being 2 sets to love, he could simply unleash everything he got in every stroke from that point on...
That mental strength right there has to be admired
