    Have this one now 2 weeks and after owned all other X5 older models, this one is just a step higher.
    I charge it every day and got about 1.500 km with still 100km of petrol range so happy with that.
    110km/h and then combustion engine kicks in but without you knowing or feeling.
    CAR drives alone without any problems on highway or town.

    Thank you for an excellent review! I have now just bought a new 45e and I have traded in my 40e. I will charge only in my garage and drive fully electric on hydropower to/from work. I will avoid DC charging station queues on long distance driving. Over 4 years the average consumption on the 40e was 4 liter/100 km. The 45e is expected to be much lower with my driving.

      Still satisfied with your car? // J

      @Johan: Still very happy. I filled up the petroleum tank 1st of January 21 after a long distance drive. Then I filled up again after 5000 km the 1st of July for my next long distance drive. Yearly average consumption is below 3 liter/100 km. I only charge the car at home in the garage. I tested the X5 30D and compared with the 45E. For any distance shorter than 300km the 45 has less consumption. The shorter you drive the better for the 45E. The 45E is much faster then the 30D!

      Can regenerative braking be turned off?

    • @jost4786
      @jost4786 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3joewj Regenerative breaking can’t be turned off. The brakes are kept rust free with normal use an coasting is easily done with the accelerator, so no need to be able to turn it off.

    A BMW can never be called as value for money. But this X5 45e when rationally optioned, is the best and almost a steal comparatively in US, may not be in Europe. If can avail the 100% Fed Tax credit ( in US), then makes it all the more sweeter. Only dislike is the Harman K system which as added option is sub par. The B&W is not offered and was too expensive when it was offered .

    I've done 5000 miles in mine (60% on petrol / 40% in EV). MPG average is 54mpg.

    How are the seals in the engine going to like not being exercised and lubricated regularly like in a traditional car? Also, you'd probably need to add fuel stabilizer to your gas to keep it from going stale when running locally on electric.

    • @2Greenlid
      @2Greenlid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure you will use the gas engine at least once a month, probably weekly, so I don’t see a problem....

    • @Noah_Entropy

      The car will run the engine without being prompted if it’s been too long between being operated. The tank is pressure sealed (you have to press a button to depressurize it before opening the fuel cap). This helps keep the gas from going off, but you’d have to have the same gas in the car for over five months before it goes below the minimum octane, and even then it will only cause reduced power. If you know that’s going to be a regular issue just add stabilizer or a fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron or BMW Twin Power fuel system cleaner which also acts as a stabilizer.

    Third row seats are usually for kids anyway, so a small third row is not a problem for most families. Who needs to ferry seven adults around, unless you are an airport limo service, in which case you'd never choose an X7 or X5.

    Is the A/C compressor electric? As in, if you're stopped at a light on battery power, will you still get cold air from the A/C?

    • @Noah_Entropy
      @Noah_Entropy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. You run the AC or heat without starting the engine until the battery runs below 6%.

    Would love to get this option but unfortunately charging isn’t really an option in Manhattan. Very poor public charging infrastructure and even my building’s garage won’t allow installation.

    • @Noah_Entropy
      @Noah_Entropy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wouldn’t look pretty but you can pair a 25ft, 12 gauge extension cord with the 120v charger that comes with the car. The max draw for that is 1,200 watts so any 15 amp, 120v plug would work to charge it.

    Great review again Tomas love the small Audi /BMW Navi jokes 👍👍 how big is the fuel tank? What range could you expect on just petrol? Also what range could you expect on both the electric and combustion motors combined?
