Sanfilippo mom Ashley Haywood on her daughter's clinical trial, and the toll it took on her marriage

Ashley's daughter Sadie (Sanfilippo Syndrome, type A) was fortunate enough to be in a genetic therapy clinical trial for 2 years when she was really young. And the results were good - she was maintaining skills and seemed to be progressing quite well. But then the trial was suddenly halted, because of lack of funding, which was absolutely devastating for the Haywood family. And it took its toll on their marriage as well. Ashley explains here.
