I remember my daughter bringing her car into a stealership, the money light was on. They told her it was definitely the catalytic converter, parts and labour close to a grand. After I stopped laughing, I asked her did she wait for the car, and how long did she wait before they gave her the 'diagnosis'. It apparently took them less than ten minutes, to 'thoroughly' check the system and come to this amazing conclusion. The car wasn't worth the cost of a new cat anyway so i told her we're driving it into the ground, but I'm going to put a new fuel cap on, as the old one looked worse for wear, was a potential cheap fix, and often is the cause of the engine light coming on. Done that, cleared the codes, three years on, no sign of the engine light, amazing. Rip off dealerships, I can't trust any of them myself
I have got a 2005 MK 3 Mondeo Petrol 2.0 litre Ghia X which has the engine management light on, I have a P1120 fault code which tells me its the Throttle Position Sensor is out of range, the car revs up when braking but returns to idle when stopped and loses power on acceleration especially when going up hill, I took it to a local garage who said the sensor had muck on it and cleaned it all out, the fault disappeared but now has returned again, I got a new sensor for it but not sure if the throttle body will need changing too, the garage said the repairs will be quite expensive to sort out.
Brilliant I love watching you all but how long before you put that bloody fuel flap on the acclaim every time a vid comes on I think his going to do it now but no 😂😂😂👍🏻
Did you have any other symptoms other than the eml being on? I had a p0174 code. Which has now gone but been replaced with p0443 code. My car shakes at ide and gets worse as it warms up. If I put my foot on accelerator and rev up it will stall???

I have a 2006 ford explorer with the code p0443 purge evaporation circuit fault, the question is if this fault is related to what the EGR valve code p0403 appears, if I change the purge valve, will the two codes disappear?
Glad you got rid of the fault code. I'm trying to sort my son's Friend's Yamaha X max 125 efi. Fuel pump wasn't working, got a new one, now it is. Replaced the Injector as it was leaking. Computer won't open the injector. Do you think the crank sensor could be at fault. Doing this as a favour and had the bloody thing for a month. Take care, Jeff

Hi Martin (or anyone else reading this who may know), what are the symptoms for a faulty purge valve? I dont have access to a computer to read the error codes, and funnily there is no engine light coming on. But from what I have read so far, I think I may have issues with my purge valve. The car sometimes will just not turn on. Most commonly, it is after refuelling, and it will not turn on the first time, but will the second. I have had a new fuel pump put in and after it stopped starting all together the other week, I took it to an auto electrician who fixed some wiring near the fuel tank and said they had fixed it. Drove well for a week and then this morning it wont turn on at all. Went back out this afternoon and it turned over once and then stopped. Successive tries didn't work. Only other symptom I can describe is that one time recently when I was driving the car it slowed itself down and then shut off. However, it turned back on straight away. 2007 2.3L Auto for reference Thanks in advance and thanks for the comprehensive video.
Get a cheap OBD11 reader Harry, you can pick one up for about £15.00 You need to know if there are any fault codes to give you some idea bud of what the problem could be. Anything else is just guessing.
How about a "fix a subscriber st220" video? And funnily enough I have one you could have a try on before I pull out what little hair I have left out my head.
Nether go to fords they are rubbish.they tryed to charge me 1300 to change all my injectors on my Ford focus 1.8tdci so i took it to a small independent garage who fix it and it only turned out to be a loose electrical fault on number 2 injector fixed.So never go fords again.Great video guys

The Mass airflow sensor could be at fault, they can cause many weird faults.
