I drop the seeds into a shotglass until the tap root appears and then straight into soil. Keep it moist with humidity dome until seedling pops up. After a few days remove dome and only water the seedlings when dry. I transplant my autos. Just have to be careful not to disturb the roots. Whatever works for you. Happy growing all! 😁👍🌿

Photo's I do the paper towel method inside a zip lock baggie with a heating pad turned to low in a dark cabinet.
My auto's I just put them into their for ever pot with pre-soaked soil with a lite mist of water every 12hrs until it sprouts. After it pokes through the soil I will cover the sprout with a shot glass and lightly mist the water around the glass again every 12hrs. I don't like the water to touch my auto seedlings until 3-4th node. So after they out grow the shot glass I will cover with a solo cup during watering. This also forces the roots to seek out the water instead of watering the area around the stalk.

ive had immense success ( probably 95%+ ) by dropping no more than 3 seeds at a time into a single cup of spring water by either poland spring or zephyrhills, waiting until they sink to the bottom which is generally 18-32 hours, and then moving them directly into the paper towel method to finish. once taproot is about half an inch, maybe 3/4 i then place into final pot with a freezer ziplock bag that i pre mist placed ontop of the pot taking it off for about 3 minutes 2 times a day and re misting and placing back on. do this with autos and photos

Soak in warm clean water for 24hrs, plant when tap root appears, and you're done. I've never lost a seed. Peat plugs I've used with a lot of success to but they're less effective. I water them every day unless the substrate is already moist - you get a feel for moisture after a while, it is a learned trait. I transplant once and I use small pots/solos/anything that holds enough substrate - doesn't matter since it's going in a bigger pot once established. Congratulations on 10k m8s 👌

Drop the seed in a shot glass of water and when the taproot is almost as long as the seed itself then plant seed side up obviously. This has been successful for me however im very new to this. I'm a novice for sure. Thats why I watch you guys! Thanks for the vids

I plant my seeds right into a starter pot; Keeping it moist under a humidity dome. I use peat plugs rehydrated in an aloe solution to stimulate root growth. Usually takes about 5 days. I tramsplant after about two to four weeks into final pot, coating roots with "Great White". I waterr in with "Recharge". pH at 6.7. Yes I grow organically.

Do a side by side without the dome. I bet the dome less seedling will be stronger and healthier. It's one of those bro science things you see way too many people repeating. Domes are for plants that don't have roots yet like clones. Seedlings already have roots.

I just toss the seeds in room temp tap water in a cup and put them in a warm dark place. The cup of water never drys out and I've always had 100% success rate with germination unless it was a bad bean. Then once I have decent size tap roots I plant into a small jiffy square pot with mokoko coco amended with Gia green 4-4-4 4 tbsp per gallon, and about a cup of worm castings. Toss a little mycorrhizae in before you plant if you wanna help give it a jump start. Then I toss them after planted in a little propagation dome for cuttings and most and keep humidity high till they pop. I'm confident with this method you will be able to germinate in any medium including rockwool and peat pucks. Keep up the videos guys

I used to use a propagator with the peat moss plugs, but now, I plant directly into my 3 gal pots in my tents, so from seed to harvest. Works best imo, as I do only auto's and the first 21 days are super important imo and planting directly in my soil works best.

Basically what I do I germinate my seeds in a moist paper towel that I put inside a sandwich baggie for humidity and I set it on a heating pad in a dark closet then I fell a solo cup 98% filled to the top with my soil Then as soon as I see signs/female White hairs I’ll transplant into a 3-5 gallon pot For the duration

The best results I get is when I drop the seed in a glass with a inch or 2 of bottle water then place in the dark till the tap root come out or it at least crack open then put in a thick paper towel and damp it then put it in a zip-lock bag blow in the bag and seal it place in the dark and magic happens if u already have a tap root this will only make it bigger/longer .

I also add either gibberilic acid or hydrogen peroxide, just a drop or two. Also 24h is more than enough imo
Once the seed drop to the bottom of the glass, it's ready. With fresh seeds that can happen in as little as six hours
Out of cca 50 plants i germinated this way, only had 3-4 that never popped

  • @olivercampbell2839
    @olivercampbell2839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

When germinating I soak the seed until it sinks, in a glass of water. Then I sterilise a cloth (not paper towel, its to easy to over water or underwater a paper towel). Put the soaked seed in the cloth, the cloth in a zippy. Zippy, cloth and seed on a heatmat set at 20°C. I fully saturate the medium before putting the germmed seed in. This means I don't worry about dry pockets, air pockets. It also means I don't need to water for the first 10days. Placing it on a heatmat, under light until transplanting.
When the produce seed they dry them. This puts the seed into a dormancy, soaking the seed before germination allows for even germination. Sometime, especially with auto (due to the ruderalis) the seeds can go into deep dormancy and will need 4-5weeks in the fridge to break the dormancy (stratifaction).
I transplant autos, any plant will get transplant shock if you do it badly. To avoid shock, try transplanting in the evening/ start of dark period...this means the plant can adjust without the sun/electric sun frying them. Add microbes and mycelium to the roots when transplanting, this reduces transplant shock. The last thing I would do is spray with seaweed solution, the hormone boost will help.

I run autos and always start in a solo cup over time I started using fox farm seed starter for the seedlings and for water I mist the soil morning and evening and keep a dome on until the seed pops. My issues start in winter when my inside temp drops to around 71 and then the heat mat comes out and I have to make sure my water and media is up to temp as well. I transplant into 5 gal bags with living soil at 14 to 21 days.

  • @dennisthegrower

I use solo cup with soil. Poke a hole in soil with finger about 1/2 deep. Drop a seed in hole and cover. Water well and leave alone under low light. Find that they do not need any more water till seedling gets going good. Pick cup up feel weight, if light water and if heavy leave alone.

I've had good success by soaking the seeds for 12-14 hours. Then the wet paper towel method in a warm dark spot, I usually get a tap root within 24 hours. To the solo (or yogurt) cup with some damp potting soil, typically get sprouting in another 24-36 hours. Then after 18-20 days, transplant into a 3 gallon cloth pot. I always rough up the roots and sprinkle on some dry Myco when I repot and it seems to really help them get jumpstarted in the bigger pot. On the current grow, I topped a Zkittles OG from Barneys Farm and it has gone completely nuts. Two big main colas with buds all over the side branches, cant wait to see them fill out. Very interested to try topping again on the next grow after seeing this.
    Congrats on 10K!

I used to do the wet round cotton pad method but the taproot would get stuck which was a stresser. Now my foolproof method is 30 hrs in shot glass with a couple drop of hydrogen peroxide. in my last 2 runs 100% success of the husk opening and root exposed without having do to paper towel step. then into a solo cup which is always 100% Happy Frog, the best for seedlings.

Boil some tap water and let it cool over nite, use that in a shallow small dish or tray (shallow water holds more oxygen) and throw ya beans in there for a day and after a bit of a soak their shells are nice and swelled up, they then go into a very moist jiffy pellet and half a dozen pellets go into a seed tray and onto a heat mat with a piece of foam between tray and mat. With this method you get the seeds shell to swell up with the soak, then into wet jiffy pellets that have a 10% air content even when soaping wet, and we wont wet them that much so you get a good amount of air as well as a medium that stays wet for days without further water. I dont use a humidity dome, with my humidity around 60%. Ive lost too many seedlings to rot from over watering and too high humidity over the years and find if I harden them off early in life, they survive better and are tougher over all plants. Plus if you over water and humidity is a bit lower, the plants handle it a bit better, they still dont like it but handle it a bit better. The more you baby them when young, the harder it is to transition to full on growing conditions when older. So I dont baby them as much, and seems to work well. The trick is learning when they can handle a bit of tough love and when they are still too young to handle it, each strain seems to be a bit diff too. But I focus on Photos and aim to fill a 3x3 tent with one plant and harvest half a pound or a bit less. Its too hard and expensive to get good seeds here to waste them growing 4 plants to yield the same as one plant in the same space.

    10K, sheiit.
Papertowel method for me, wait until it gets about up 2 inches or more.
And protip to put the papertowel ziplock on top of a heat source (cable or distv power box works so good if you leave it on 247, it stays warm)
Also a heatingpad at any store is well worth it (make sure its not too hot but just right about 75F)
Most people are just doing the RO water glass method until it sinks, then they are ready usually.
Papertowel method always works, and I fill the ziplock like a balloon so it has co2 and oxygen in there for a the day (reballoon it daily or 2 days tops)

I use a hydroponic cube. First i soak cube in water with microryza? added to water. Then i put the cube in a filled 3 gallon fabric pot. I place the sead into the hole in the cube and slightly cover hole with part of cube fabric. This eliminates the fear of the sead or young seedling getting sloshed around when watering and eliminates the germinating in a towel. When i water, i mist the cube. This eliminates watering whole pot when seedling. Then cover with clear plastic lid. Usually pops in 3 to 4 days. Then usually water 1/4 cup water daily. Keep my dome on until 3 inches tall. Just drop em in water, wait for a bit of taproot, then I plant in peat pellets. Once they get they're first leaves I peel the fabric holding the peat pellet together off (carefully) so it holds its form. I then directly plant into pots with the medium. Had problems in the past with roots getting burnt from medium being too "hot" just dropping directly into medium. The peat provides a nice barrier to the medium and lets the roots get established before hitting those nutes. Use some myco around the outside of the peat to give the roots a boost, not needed, but it helps later on with nute intake. Granted, this is with pre-amended soil that I add some perlite to. Then just top dressing from there till harvest.
Just wanted to say you guys have some great content, keep up the work.

Marino squirt a couple drops of hydrogen peroxide and soak a few hours longer (30) and the taproot should be exposed, then go right to solo cup to avoid stressing the root in the towel. Also never go longer than 48 hours soaking in glass, it will drown and die.

@@Highigan The Lignin's in Aloe Vera allow the plants to utilize the nutrient and moisture supply more efficiently with less stress on the plant. Plants grow healthier, larger and greener due to the plants ability to better use the UV rays from the sun allowing photosynthesis to take place more efficiently.

That's the scientific explaination...Cut a piece of aloe the size of ur thumb. Skin it and scrape out the gell. Put this in a gal of dechlorinated water, pH 6.7. Use an air stone to oxygenate the mixture. Put that in your spray bottle and spray your plants. Make sure you get the underside of the leaves where the stomata are. Best to apply right before lights on. Also use as a root stimulant by watering into seedlings Improveiing resistance to disease.

I do the paper towel method in a covered plastic container in my closet that has a heated floor. When the taproot appears I plant in a small 2” pot or solo cup. Also someone told me not to use clear cups as roots don’t like light…I don’t know for sure if this is a myth or not. I really try to plant it before the seedling is 10mm. The long taproots can sort of kink and this does not grow a good seedling. I leave it there until the top set of leaves is wider that the container width then to 1 gallon and eventually to the final size. I try to use the same soil recipes for all stages (except for germination which is an HP mix). When I water my seedlings I use a squeeze bottle of ph’d water as I find it easier to control how much I give. I also mist. But never overwater. I never top my autos. The strains I tried this on did not grow as nice as the untopped ones. I found it delayed them and they never caught up to the untopped ones. And I do not like peat pots or jiffy peats. I find a nice light soil works better and encourages root growth better. If I’m using bottles nutrients, I start giving nutrients at 1/4 strength.

Iv had a very good success rate with paper towl method, but as I'm experimenting with cactus seeds and hemp seeds, if found the seeds thats don't take, if you grind them up damp or dry will give a very good start to any seedlings, but there is a hitch to this and it will take alot of time for what ever plants you grow to adapt to new nutrients
