0:09 We’ve all had that moment. Meeting an old crush from the past and for whatever reason it didn’t work out. But now you both look great and there’s a possibility at a second chance.
The first seconds of this clip when they met after a long time is gold!! The scene of the pictures of both younger and the Beatles in the background at the moment of the reunion is one of my earliest memories. I got to say Superman 3 is my favorite of all.
I actually really liked Superman III for two main reasons -- the good/bad Superman fight and the amazing chemistry between Clark and Lana. It was so refreshing that she actually preferred Clark to Superman, especially after seeing how abrasive Lois was to Clark.
Me too. If they had kept the film to Lana/Clark/Smallville + Evil Superman, it would have been amazing! Reeve looked like he was having fun playing a baddie, but it was too short lived. The chemistry between him and O' Toole was great too.
It was a film that had a lot of good components there to make a truly good film, but the Salkinds, Lester, and the Newmans had a different vision for what the Superman films should be - and one in which they all seemed to be in complete agreement on, which is why there was zero production trouble on this film. Compare with Donner’s shoot for the first two films. More epic, high quality nature to Donner’s stuff, but constant interference and complaints from the Salkinds (which to be fair to them, some of which was driven by cost and potential release date overruns, which as independent producers was coming solely out of their pockets). But yeah, all the elements there for a good Superman film.
For me it's Richard Pryor. He makes the movie. That drinking scene with Gavan O'Herlihy never gets old. "There's Vodka in it now buddy! You never pass out do you?" 🤣 And the cherry on top is Roger Miller's music.
@@caeserromero3013Gavan O’Herlihy was excellent at playing nasty POS’. Not sure about Happy Days, but this, Death Wish 3, and Lonesome Dove, he did a great job! Anybody hating Clark Kent because he’s nice and wants to attack him is indeed a terrible person!
She's so cute, she first gave the paper plates instead of the LP's by mistake to the DJ. Shows how she really has similarities with Clark. Really the girl next door, the girl from home. She and the Smallville scenes were the best thing about this movie. I don't know, but even reading the comics growing up in the 70's and 80's, I preferred Lana Lang over Lois Lane. And though "Superman III" wasn't so well received in 1983, most everyone agreed that Annette O'Toole was an enchanting Lana and that she and Christopher Reeve had terrific chemistry. At the end of the movie, I thought Lois Lane clearly realized she had very serious competition. (And the fact that this Lana loves Clark and not Superman adds to her appeal)
That's everything I wanted to say. This is why I ship Lana with Clark, a hundred percent, every single time. Thank you for making me feel so much better today after having read this comment.
Me too. what many don't realize is that Clark and Lana are Soulmates. Clark never gets over Lana even if he is with Lois. Lois is only meant to be Clark's Life Partner, But Lois is not His true love or Soulmate that is the difference.
It sucks that some of the only times we see them end up together in the comics it’s because it’s an alternate universe, he’s some level of villain, he’s lost his powers (so never moved to Metropolis), or some combination thereof. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that Lana likes Clark at least as much if not more so than Supes (I do too), but they seem to think Lana can’t keep up with his lifestyle as Superman, or would only be his partner in villainy-it’s just weird.
@Benjamin Bowling Well, Lois did get jealous at the end of the movie when she was told that Clark gave Lana a diamond ring. However, since Lana wasn't on the fourth film, maybe she and Clark fell out of contact because everyone at the "Daily Planet" got laid off because of an evil publisher.
Annette O'Toole was the perfect role of Lana Lang, & 18 years later in 2001, she went on to play the role of Clark Kent's adoptive mother Martha Kent in the CW series, Smallville.
I love Superman 3, even though most people don't like it. The best parts was that Clark met Lana and went back to Smallville. Mean Superman and the battle between the good and bad was great too.
Every character in this film were simply perfection. The acting and emotions were so real, it made Clarke a vulnerable human being open to all elements yet, was he Clarke or superman really. Was Clarke purely an act or his preferred self. So well written and acted.
I love the look on the DJ's face as Lana handed him paper plates from 0:47-0:48 like he was thinking "why did she hand me paper plates instead of those records she was supposed to give me?" especially since she handed him the records at 1:13 apologizing that she's going nuts with him giving the paper plates back. Especially that gave him the opportunity to change the record at 1:59.
The Beatles almost never license their music for non-Beatles films, but Richard Lester had directed their first two films and had a good relationship with them, so they let him use one of their minor songs, a Chuck Berry cover.
@auroreanfly No doubt about it. They are very aware of these things...and Relic was no different. In the 200th episode (Homecoming) Clark goes to his 5 year reunion at SV high...They even steal Annette's yellow dress, rip off about a foot or two to make it more revealing, and plaster it on the wrong girl alluding to Lana even though lois will never be as special to Clark as Lana. They do that kind of throwback to comics/movie ALL the time.
A surprise that Clark was able to control himself when he saw Brad Wilson after seeing Lana Lang for the 1st time in years. And that Brad made a fool of Clark before Clark's father passed away.
Really? They blew up a photo of a class nerd? And everyone in the room is looking at the photo and not noticing the resemblance to Superman? The Superman universe must be a bit myopic.
JewelrNC16: I'd say coincidence is more of an accurate description. But on another note, the Smallville episode Relic has a young Jor-El dancing with Lana's ancestor to Earth Angel (song playing at the end of the video).
It’s so rare to find a Beatles song in a movie. I wonder how much did they pay for it. I guess the rights go on Chuck Berry since Roll Over Beethoven is his song.
i always knew Smallville had guest that somehow have bn involve in Superman but i never knew Annette O'toole once played Lana Lang and now Clark Kent mother.
It's kind of sad though, when Lana mentions that Mrs Kent had died. I mean she was still alive in the first movie meaning she must've only passed away a little bit before this film.
Brad treated Clark terribly in school,so Clark he should have given him a vise grip type hand shake, then told him the same thing as that bully truck driver in Superman 2..oh I've been working out.
@marc dewey That is true that Brad was a bully to Clark in their High School years. However, I'm sure Brad got his punishment very well from Clark at the end of the movie when Brad tried beating him up out of jealousy after seeing Clark give Lana a diamond ring. Regarding that truck driver named Rocky on "Superman 2", Clark only seriously injured him because the chef Ron and his wife didn't like him and were happy someone taught him a lesson.
Usually using the actors real life high school pictures makes sense, but in this case it’s inconsistent cause they don’t look like the young actors from the beginning of the first movie
You can tell Brad gets on Lana's last nerves Lol 😂 those 3 remind me of Biff Tannen, Lorraine, and George McFly 😂 Lol.You can hear Roll over Beethoven by the Beatles in the background.
Wtf is wrong with Clark dancing like that ? And he even looks like George McFly in this movie wtf and they were even playing the song Earth angel and that same song Was played in Back to the future.
While Superman III is not a great movie I thought Christopher Reeve and Annette O'Toole gave great performances with their roles, I also loved the Superman/Clark Kent fight along with many of the action scenes, I wish we would've gotten to see more of Brad and less of Richard Pryor.
Christopher Reeve was absolutely perfect as Clark/Superman.
Looks every inch the Superhero, but plays a classic nervous bungler to perfection as well.
I needed this scenes solely to watch him do that little dance 😂
jacksonfan4life123 Me too 😂👍🏼
Love it 👏
I just saw the movie yesterday and i was looking the same xD
i did it last night

Yes me too! I watched this clip because I remember Clark dancing like a goofball and I didn't realize that Brad was being a belligerent drunk
Superman dancing all out to a slow song, pure gold that hit my funny bone!
I actually really liked Superman III for two main reasons -- the good/bad Superman fight and the amazing chemistry between Clark and Lana. It was so refreshing that she actually preferred Clark to Superman, especially after seeing how abrasive Lois was to Clark.

I love how she plays lana in superman 3, and when she was casted as Clark's mom on Smallville, the casting crew didn't even know.
I can't believe they didn't knew that
They knew it that’s why she got the role and even general zod actor in superman 2 was the voice of jor el in smallville ( Terence stamp)
They danced the same song as in back to the future!! ♥ It's a lovely song!
Aaaand, The Beatles' Roll Over Beethoven was originally sung by Chuck Berry, who, as you know wrote Johnny B. Goode.
Love seeing Clark cutting a rug at 2:00 hahaha
Clark slamming the dancefloor at 2:00; LMFAO!!!!!!!!
I will forever love this movie
can't believe George McFly is Superman !
LMAO
Hello? Hello? Anybody in there? Think McFly, think!
Totally
And Chuck Cunningham is Brad Wilson.
Great Scott, Man!!! This is heavy!!!
Rest In Peace Gavan O'Herlihy
Dorky Superman FTW...that dancing was off the hook lmao
Didnt somebody look at Clarks photo on the wall and say, "wait a minute... Isn't that...?"
Yep, I wish they would've used Jeff East's picture (young Clark in Superman the Movie)
isnt that...superman? oh nono.cause superman use on his hair cut like an letter S meanwhile clark doesnt
@Kagereneko they print his photo all the time 🤣
clark's dance moves? one word: swag
Superman III is a true story.
Who all prefers Clark with Lana instead of Lois Lane?
@Benjamin Bowling Well, Lois did get jealous at the end of the movie when she was told that Clark gave Lana a diamond ring. However, since Lana wasn't on the fourth film, maybe she and Clark fell out of contact because everyone at the "Daily Planet" got laid off because of an evil publisher.
Me I always preferred Lana for Clark ..
Clana, to me, has better chemistry in the movies/shows and in the comics.
As much this movie is terrible but I love the relationship these two have in the movie!
I think everyone
This man is so FUNNY AND CHARMING i'm just inlove with him ❤
How has nobody mashed Back to the Future, with the dance scene from Superman 3?
Looks like a job for landcommander1981!
landcommander1981 This seems to be the original from The Penguins
Did you do it? I wanna see it!!!
YT took it down. It's just a scene splice. It was hard to get the sung lyrics to match up
Let's see if this works

Did this ever work?
LOL awe Christopher Reeve's dancing is so awesome. RIP
He NAILED IT. so funny and charming as Clark all the time
Lana is definitely a lot nicer to Clark than Lois And by this film she truly appreciates Clark for the decent nice guy he is
The Beatles performing Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven" thanks to their connection to Richard Lester.
I love Christopher reeve as superman very humble
Annette O'Toole was the perfect role of Lana Lang, & 18 years later in 2001, she went on to play the role of Clark Kent's adoptive mother Martha Kent in the CW series, Smallville.
Gavan O'Herlihy who played Brad Wilson recently passed away.
I love Superman 3, even though most people don't like it. The best parts was that Clark met Lana and went back to Smallville. Mean Superman and the battle between the good and bad was great too.
It didn’t need Richard Pryor. They should’ve made the supercomputer brainiac
Annette O'Toole as Lana Lang?! My brain actually cannot comprehend this :O
Since when does Martha Kent goes to Smallville High School.
Every character in this film were simply perfection. The acting and emotions were so real, it made Clarke a vulnerable human being open to all elements yet, was he Clarke or superman really. Was Clarke purely an act or his preferred self. So well written and acted.
Annette is so beautiful!!!
Since when does Martha Kent goes to Smallville High School.
CHRISTOPHER IS SO BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
And then she grew up and became Senator of Kansas... oh wait
Woderful

He has the exactly height Superman has in the comics. He just BORN to play superman or superman was created for him to play ❤
It would have been a great little Easter Egg to have the class photos being of the actors who played Clark, Lana and Brad in Superman 1.
i take the stairs a little slower these days and I have these little spells
I'm wondering if the Back to the future use of the song Earth Angel
in a similar setting was deliberate?
Just a really popular song from that era. I'm sure it's in other movies too.
They used Marvin Berry's version in back to the future
No, BTTF came out two years later and used the song because it was a popular romantic song in the early days of rock and roll.
Annette O' Toole dancing with Christopher Reeves
Reeve
We need to get that dance Clark is doing at 2:01 into Fortnite.
Does anyone realize the background music is "Rollover Beethoven" cover version by the freekin' Beatles.

George Harrison at his best
And in the end they go Back to the Future (even tough it still had to come) :)
