The line "The love I thought I'd won, you give for free...." is so damn sad. What an incredible song.
I think the line "Your boyfriend's o'er, I watched your lights go out" is even sadder. I really love Whitney Steele - she captures the incredibly deep sadness of this song a little better than the Gin Blossoms themselves.
Absolutely perfect and beautiful cover. Love how the guitar player does not overplay but gives the vocalist space to sing those timeless lyrics. I have watched this about thirty times!!

I really liked this band, the songs were old soul/pop and they still hold up. They were developing into what i thought was one of the best bands of the 90's. Sad story of unrequited love for a brilliant writer.

Doug Hopkins was a misunderstood genius...and a personal hero of mine....
after the first record on which he wrote 'Hey Jealousy' and 'Found out about you'-
after years of struggling and starving for his art, they attained national success and recognition-and they kicked him out of the band...a lfew months later his girlfriend broke up with him over the phone...
after which he put a revolver in his mouth and said goodbye...
RIP Doug...you were fucking awesome...
He struggled with alcoholism and the record company wanted him out because he could barely perform in the studio.
