The Route 66 Nationals kicked off today at Route 66 Raceway just outside Chicago, we started off the day celebrating the life of Don Schumacher and were shown the special one of scheme his son Tony Schumacher will be driving this weekend. As for the racing. We were treated to 2 excellent rounds of qualifying that gave us an update on the Buell vs Suzuki wars between Matt Smith and Gaige Herrera, the Elite Motorsports crew jumped the field yet again in an impressive showing from Erica Enders, Troy Coughlin Jr, and Jeg Coughlin Jr, in Funny Car Austin Prock turned heads during Q2 as he shot up to the top spot, and in Top Fuel hometown favorite TJ Zizzo stole the show by ending the night number 1qualifier.
