Now this is the good, clean magical fun that I look forward to when it comes to Budget Magic! I'd love to see a less-budget version that splashed into Blue for Mobilizer Mech. EDIT: Giant Ox is surprisingly good in this deck. That 6 toughness is quite the roadblock.
These "FREE" decks DO really make me think about installing Magic Online. Even if I just picked up the digital cards rather than rented them, it'd be cheap. Thanks, Seth.
Interesting fact: If you mutate on top of a vehicle it will remain a creature, no more crewing. If you mutate underneath the vehicle it will still require crewing. I built a fairly competitive mardu kroxa plow deck last year in standard (3rd place in the store. Took down mono green and cycling. No match against sultai ultimatum). Let me say that mutating snapdax on a plow was quite exciting. Also, turn 4 Tibalt was possible with the mana from plow.
The flavor of a big ox operating a mech never stops being hilarious. 41:18 I think I would start by cutting Toolcraft Exemplar and putting in the Portable Holes instead of having them in the sideboard. You were bringing them in more often than not. For another budget removal option, maybe Valorous Stance? It can clear out blockers that are too big for the vehicles to get through, and doubles as a protection spell for when opponents try to remove a combo piece, or as a combat trick when an opponent sticks all their blockers in front of a vehicle.
Before Neon Dynasty, I was running Relic Golem as my 3-drop pilot. I don't think we really need that slot now. Mechanic and Hangar fill out your needs well enough.
I loved this video so so much, I immediately hopped back on arena (haven't touched it for some months) and tried a historic version of the deck. Not having consulate dreadnought is a bit bad, but it's still a super fun deck and really good in that format as well, I hope you'll try it sometime!!
As I'm making my way through the deck tech.. im thinking about how useful something like lupine prototype would be here. It's a 2 mana 5/5 with some hoops to jump through for it to attack.. but it would be a turn 2 crew 5 and if you have artifact synergies then it works for those too
I saw this deck in a Playing Pioneer article created by Oddlyuneven. Super fun and the deck did 5-0 that week so for sure is a good deck. So fun. I want to play Pioneer so bad, i suggest everyone to check the Playing Pioneer blog is super cool. Amazing video
I started playing a budget armed and armored vehicles deck about three weeks ago. Board wipes, specifically shatter the sky, is a key card of the deck. I've also considered adding tap spells, to get through against chump blockers
Yeah, it's tough while keeping to the strict budget (mostly because we'd need rare dual lands), but if budget isn't a concern Kazuul's Fury seems like a sweet addition.
I mean, no Sram? Every vehicle you cast is a redraw, seems good, maybe you can even put lion sash for the matches you flood out or hoverbike to take blockers on the pass
I was really disappointed that consulate dreadnought wasn’t in kaladesh remastered. Otherwise I would have definitely crafted it for the historic version of this deck.

@@MTGGoldfish maybe instead of against the odds because its a pretty meta deck bring back the Playing Pauper series you had forever ago but ya'know, playing pioneer. original series for that got a lot of people into pauper, and then its a thing for whenever you have an off day for ideas or want to do it every month or whatever.
Do you think it would be possible to port this deck in some form over to Modern? Cause I kinda want to do that as a budget deck with some unique jankness.
I think the deck could function in Modern, although it would be less competitive thanks to cards like Stony Silence and other artifact hate that sees a lot of play in the format.
I wonder how 4 catapult fodder would work in this deck. I play a b/w version of ox plow in standard and that card is surprisingly good when you can burn your opponent for 4-6 damage a turn
COLOSSAL Plow + Consulate DREADnaught + Armed and ArMORed = COLOSSAL DREADMOR. No wonder why the deck is so powerful!

Yeah, even if you avoid the rental programs $6 is cheap enough for most players to buy.
I've been playing this deck for months, about 90% same cards. I added Rogue's Passage because chump blocking is such a problem.

Born to drive might be viable in this deck, since you can t2 plow, t3 channel 2 pilots, crew - attack.

The only issue is a lack of alternate Plows. The best bet is to add Anchor to Reality or Reality Heist to find it.
