It would be very difficult to actually find tourist accommodation anyway, unless you've an enormous b.acc considering over 50% of it is packed to the seams with mostly men who we can't verify who they are, where they came from or if they have ¢omitted ¢rimes. Nearly every town & little village has been p1@nted already, some outnumbered by the new people & more tipping over to being a m¡nority weekly in our on1y little h0meland. 😢

Immigration is ok so long as your country has a surplus of housing, hospital beds and school desks... Ireland running over 100% capacity in all these sectors. If Ireland can't look after its own, it can't look after others, tent city is a result of this. The solution to Irelands homeless problem is more homeless people. Its absolutely shocking and hard to believe

Irish here. The situation wifh the homeless in ireland os they are essentially left to rot. Most homeless people are nornal people and thr governement here pays to house them in hotels more expensive than buikding them houses in the long term. But 10% of homeless people have issues and instead of rehabilitating them thr government leaves them to rot. Both types of homelessness are almost impossible to escape from.
Irish people never had a problem with immigration until it became evident our neo Liberal government refused to build infrastructure for the native population let alone the insane amount of new comers

The Irish have a genuine fear and angry with this governments policy. It is beyond belief. In a small country, the government has encouraged the sustained tens of thousands of young males into our country. We have a housing shortage….we have thousands living on our streets. We have young couples unable to rent or buy homes.
Our economic migrants , 80% have “ lost” their passports en route, flood into Ireland.many indeed have been living elsewhere in Europe, but have heard of the “ pot of gold” in Ireland. We do not know who they are, where the have come from( some say they are Ukraine, but their skin colour gives the away)..
Ireland is angry…..not with the migrants themselves , although many migrants feel entitled to receive handouts and demand more.
But the anger is with all parties in the government, who inflicted this policy on an unsuspecting Irish people. This government will be voted out at the next elections.

The town you see in the video (Rosscrea) with the one hotel that was taken over by the goverment would have been used by tourists who would have brought revenue to this small rural town, now this income is gone and a lot of the local people who would rely heavily on this kind of income are going to be out of pocket. The goverment dont seem to be considering this. its up and down the country that this is happening. Ireland outside of Dublin has agriculture and tourisim and thats it. We are a very welcoming and friendly people, the powers that be have totally mismanaged this whole situation and its going to cost them their jobs next election. The scary thing about this is the wrong people are going to be elected to replace them just on the immigration issue. Sad times ahead for us I'm sad to say.

There is an aspect to this issue that hardly ever gets discussed. That aspect is the matter of illegals coming to Ireland through the UK, including some who have been refused residency in the UK, but not deported back to their own country and instead allowed to take air flights to Belfast or ferries to Larne. There seems to be an element here of the UK authorities being content to allow such people remain free to travel on to the North of Ireland with intention of seeking refuge or asylum in the Irish Republic, thereby allowing a UK problem to become an Irish problem. Thus the UK avoids the trouble and expense of having to expel unsuccessful residency applicants and of flying them back to their country of origin.
It is not uncommon to see Irish Gardai (police) and immigration officials from Dublin mounting checkpoints at Irish border crossings and stopping buses and cars, trying to intercept foreign nationals attempting to enter the Republic illegally. Time and time again illegals have been removed from buses and taxis and sent back across the border. Many of these supposed asylum seekers come from countries which have no direct flight routes to Ireland, and under EU rules should not be entitled to claim asylum in Ireland, but instead only in the first European country they arrive in.
In one recent notorious case a young man from Egypt, having been refused asylum and residency in the UK and listed for deportation back to Egypt, was actually allowed to leave the British court and he made his way to Belfast, from where he smuggled himself across the border into the Republic, settling in the town of Dundalk, County Louth, just south of the border, where he again applied for asylum.
While he was being processed by the Irish immigration authorities, who would decide whether or not he could stay in Ireland, this young man perpetrated a despicable crime against innocent people in Dundalk in January 2018. In an outrageous series of attacks the Egyptian, who really should never have set foot in Ireland, atttacked and stabbed two young Irishmen on the streets of Dundalk. He then went on to attack and murder an innocent Japanese student. The victim was attacked from behind as he walked along the street, listening to music, and never knew his attacker was behind him. In this case, the murderer was judged by an Irish court to be insane at the time of the attack.
It is not for me to decide whether he was mad or just bad, but this case shows how important it is that states should take proper precautions before undocumentred foreign nationals are allowed to enter a country to claim asylum.

The only thing they might do is is off the book scams like delivery drivers on bikes etc, this brings the wages down for local people,or they join gangs. The Gov't could encourage families to have children. Ireland has just had a referendum whereby Irish people have voted in favour of Mothers in the home a not being forced to work. The Gov't is doing everything it can to disrupt the family. I'm a Karelian finn, to whom resides north of Stockholm, Sweden. I want to move closer to my big sister, but due to the migrant influx we'd, you've to wait about 14 to 20 years to get an apartment. Now, a hood called Hässelby strand, due to the that Sweden had this year the lowest migrant influx since year 2000.
The landlord to whom haves now empty apartments, by making them rot. Making the landlord is losing money. And the left wants to open the borders again, even the recommendations from serval authorizes was not go back that system. The left moves against the current government shows the delusional state they had.
Each time I argue with the left (remember I'm unbiased) their tactics is insulting you: "You talking bs, you don't know no anything". But then I show proof of my reasonable statements, two things happened: either you be label as a racist or they try to hide the historical facts, by saying it’s a conspiracy theory. Our Sweden's little pinks is now panicking, because their lottery was funded to the Social democrats, saying there is no corruptions. Tell to the facts behind the truth. The current government is forbidding any party to this.
That generation of Sweden's little pinks will be soon gone. Soon and I hope this country future that we've at least some reasonable people to whom lives here. My philosophy always been: If you behave and accepting our values, so welcome. But if you cause a ruckus, so get out. Simple as that. I would never and ever be talking about race. I talking about the finical stress that's creates behind it.

It’s understandable why the women are afraid to have up to 200 males brought into their small community, who speak many different languages and are culturally different even within the group who have been brought in, recently the immigrants in one hotel wreaked and set it alight as they didn’t like the food and there is even footage of them fighting with each other, the small towns don’t have police there are few if any Dr’s to register and jobs scarce.

Just because you were an immigrant once doesn't mean you need to support it when you clearly see it is impacting the people of your new country, it is affecting the culture of the country that you moved to potentially for the culture and is increasing crime. You were very honest and recognized the problems from a European perspective and did not conform with mainstream attitudes telling you how to act or think.

Ireland is a welcoming country however when Government policies do not take in to account the concerns and wishes of the native population they are meant to represent the Govt can expect a backlash as they did in the recent referendum where the current Irish Government was told a loud and resounding “No”. The current government engages in reckless behaviour which is jeopardising Industry and the future of Ireland for generations to come. The government lacks foresight with regards to planning for services required for their native population let alone for the hundreds of thousands of migrants they have allowed in to the country. Not only are they neglecting the native people they are neglecting those migrants as there is no availability of accommodation or general services. All you need to do is search for tent city Dublin to see first hand that the Irish government have invited a humanitarian crisis in to the capitol city (Dublin) resulting in an out break of disease due to unsanitary conditions experienced by unfortunate migrants. Ahead of St Patrick’s Day the Govt then cleared the tents from the city and sent the migrants with tents to the hills in the country side so they would not be an eye sore. This is MADNESS!
The question to ask is if the Irish Government no longer listens to its own population who are they listening to? Who do they serve?

@@spike2227 welcoming is defined as behaving in a polite or friendly way to a guest or new arrival. Ireland took in more Ukrainian refugees on a per capita basis than any other Western European country. A 2018 euro barometer poll found that Ireland was the most pro immigrant country in the EU with 80% of Irish voters saying that immigrant integration had been successful compared to just 54% in the EU as a whole. Similarly, 72% of Irish voters expressed a very or moderately positive view of immigrants compared to just 54% in the EU as a whole. So, one has to ask the question. What has changed?

Ireland was never an immigrant destination. It was too poor. Tourists came but no one wanted to live here.
It was a high trust society though. Those who came to live here came with means to do so and they strove to fit in.
Now,though, we are living in a low trust society. And our new guests have no idea about Irish culture. And they don't care. Gibs me the money, the house and the medical card.
I walk the streets in Dublin, and I hear all sorts of languages but rarely a Dublin accent. I've travelled fàr and wide and when I come home I don't want to feel I don't belong.

Once again, interesting subject to hear form the perspective of "eternal immigrant".
Not going for "population replacement theory", or "guaranteed cultural downfall based on population growth".
But throughout modern history, Europe has been very safe and stable, a "birdnest" (= lintukoto). I think the situation have exploded in recent years so much because our international agreements are - what, 70 years old? And social programs are not designed for such huge influx of people in so short time span. These 2 reasons alone creates alot of stress on society level, what then lights up the barrel is (in my eyes) the cultural differences. Huge portion of the immigration towards Europe is young, muslim men. I might not be the best one to talk about their culture, but huge difference for western christian values is the status of woman. These kinda things write good headlines that sells, furthering the divination between the cultures, immigrants and domestic population.

I am technically homeless and couch surfing and I'll have to immigrate again, while my hometown has the largest per capita accommodation of Ukrainians in Ireland. I will never be able to live in my hometown. There's not even an expensive house to rent though I have nothing. .y mother was a migrant to Ireland and she had her own struggles integrating in the 70s. and learning English language. Thank you for covering this topic. I think you gave a very fair summary of an issue that is causing a lot of tension in Ireland. Your voice and language is also very moderate and as a result de-escalates what is an emotional subject so that a constructive thought pattern and discussion can emerge. Unlike some commentators who seem to use voice and language to whip up anger for one side - I don't think that helps. For my part, I am dismayed at what the people of Ireland are being put through by their politicians. I look forward to your further investigations on this topic.
