Lovely pencils! I have some of the Supracolor and some of the Albrecht Durer, and I like them each for their different attributes. You mentioned the color variation and name variation on the A-D pencils, and I got curious because I've seen the 'beige red' color elsewhere and wondered about it. So I checked the Faber-Castell website and it appears that they have renamed #130, #131, and #132. They used to be called Dark Flesh, Medium Flesh, and Light Flesh, but the names have been changed to Salmon, Coral, and Beige Red, respectively. I don't know what to make of the color variation though, unless they adjusted the formula too.
also renamed so many otthers. maybe also flesh is problematic now when vccompanies focus fact all people are not white people. Ps. years ago they discontinued i think 3 colours one light red,and light blue and light violet. i dont remember first two colour names. i seen this light blue in polychromos pencil and i have this light violet in a-d. pencils.
All these pencils have their “personality”! I love the Albrecht Durer quite well and their spread of colors is fantastic...120 in a box of 3 layers....! Cretacolor Monolithare are great too; when I want to to sharpen them I catch the fall off to be used as watercolor.......! Thank you Thea for these very wonderful swatch sessions!
Caran d’ache supra color are my favorite. I also love to use them dry because the colors are so vibrant. The piano music was at the right volume! It didn’t take over the narration or become annoying. It added a lot to the mood of the video. Thanks!
I love that you made this comparison video and am very grateful, however, I wish so much that you didn't use that soft as a brush and used a different one (as you stated in this video). I think it really would've helped us see much more how well each pencil breaks down with water. Either way, thank you for this video and the piano music was a lovely addition 💞
I think you’re right! I will possibly do a more updated video soon since now I have a desk & my proper brushes right there {at the time things were in storage & it was a bit tricky so the videos could really have been better!} Thankyou So! 🤗✨🌸🎨
@@eaupoetique I totally get the desk and supplies issues!! I've turned this tiny corner of my bedroom into my "art studio" and let me tell ya, it gets cramped!! Lol. I'm glad you have a desk now!(for your own sake/sanity) lol I used to sit Indian style on my bed with a constantly tipping and moving around lapdesk 😅
I have the full range of Albrecht Dürers and almost all of the Aqua monoliths. I LOVE them. Albrecht Dürers are my best loved ones though the metallic pencils in the 120 set are rough. Maybe its not like this in all the sets though.
Regarding brushes: I know everyone says to use stiffer brushes to blend out WC pencils, but I have found my Silver Back Velvet (squirrel and synthetic squirrel) work much better than my synthetic (and there by stiffer) brushes. I’m far from and expert, but you looked to be using a pretty heavy hand with the swatches you were activating and I think that was the reason it wasn’t blending out for you.
According to my humble opinion, I do think you are using to much water and you seem to not put enough pigment neither in order to make a truly critic with all these aquarelle crayons about theirs quality pigments comparaison! 😊From Canada Quebec
Faber Castell has changed over 40 of the Polychromos pencil names without telling the public...Contact them and get the list of the new Polychromos names, which old names/pencil numbers have had their names changed. I know this as a fact. I have backup sets. I still have to look at them...I checked the set i was currently using it was my oldest set it had all the new names. It is not just the "flesh" coloured pencil or similar shades that have been renamed either all kinds of colours!
like old wine red (one my favorite hues) is now dark magenta. one reasons why i someday need also them in full set (also polychromos etc) not only supracolor ii.
Yes, like Piper said they've renamed them. To my knowledge there's no change in formulation though, they've just taken all their "flesh tone" colors and named them more appropriately. As have the large majority of companies!👏🏻 Jackson's had an article on this, I'll see if I can find it.. Yes here it is:) www.jacksonsart.com/blog/2020/07/16/redefining-skin-and-flesh-colours/
Thankyou for that link! I feel like {& I could be wrong!} the older pencils are a single pigment & the new ones have white in them, it now swatches more like the supracolor soft in salmon or something like that which is a creamier version but I’m not too sure it’s a very slight difference 🤗✨🌸🌷🎨

my guess is when they renamed they reformulated! Thankyou So for this info!!! 🤗🤗🤗

I find a non sable brush that's a bit stiffer works better.
Thanks for the tip! 🎨✨🫧🪷🦋🌷

yes the copper pencil was a little disappointing! but I love the color of the barrel 😅 I agree the monolith set looks really beautiful! 🎨✨

Indeed, she failed to show the characteristics of these expensive pencils
