He almost does too. He stabs Megatron twice, once in a leg which was already damaged (the earlier version, this likely would have crippled him); lops off starscream’s arm, and rips Grindor’s face in half. Had he finished off Megatron, he’d have won that fight.

This is the most coherent and easily understandable fight in the Bay films, it isn't full of explosions, the camera is pulled far back giving a clear view, and it isn't shaking constantly

When the camera is shaking u know the movie doesn't know how to make a fight scene so they did that to hide their error lol

After 7 live action films this still stands as the most detailed and most choreographed fight in the entire franchise. And this fight was so epic and time consuming on production that the ILM guys said they had to cut the final fight with the Fallen short.....
They shouldve cut out 'army men fight in desert' by 5 mins and added that time to the Fallen fight scene, wouldve been so much cooler. And add like 10 mins of funny college banter, people hate it but i like the human elements and sam and his family and friends, shia is a good actor for this and its goofy af
@skarmachild I think it was more to do with budget and time constraints.... animating these huge fight scenes at the highest and most detailed possible quality ever takes waaay to long to do and eats into the budget.
What the hell? They sacrificed the final fight for this scene? The worst decision ever. Why not cut 30 mins of human screen time and then add just 2 mins to the final fight? So disappointing. That final fight removed all the hype that the movie has made for The Fallen, cuz it made him so weak

Optimus is the greatest
This fight shows primes true act of combat speed and agility
I know a lot of people have used this scene, especially the face ripping scene, to talk down about how the Bayverse Prime was overly violent. But if you think about it, in this scene, Optimus is fighting tooth and nail not just to keep the Deceptacon‘s from another plan to destroy Earth, but trying to protect one of his few human friends. He fought so violently because he knew if he fail and the Cons got Sam it would be the end of him and Earth.
Very true. There’s no such thing as a “clean” and “fair” fight when you’re getting jumped by giant alien robots.
And after getting kicked by Megatron he just had the realization of enough is enough. Sam is the key here. If you let an inch for evil then it's over. The other turning point is after getting killed he thinks he failed everyone and I'm sure Megs words ring true to him. He isn't even sure if Sam got to safety. I don't even blame Prime for going no quarter post his revival. I knew I wouldn't.

This is the moment Optimus switched, especially when Megatron called him weak
Not to mention that he had already seen Megatron die once, yet here he was again. To Optimus, the war was pretty much over. All that was left was a few Decepticons hiding out on Earth, and the Autobots might have finally seen an end to the millennia of war that killed Cybertron. Personally, I think Optimus saw Megatron’s revival as a denial of the peace he craved, and was absolutely livid that he still had to keep fighting, even after he technically won.
I love that Megatron didn’t call Optimus weak cause he killed him, but because Optimus was dogging Megatron and his goons, only to fatally drop his guard for a mere human

The coordination between Megatron, Starscream and Grindor in 2:32 is superb.
And that's what makes much more epic the fact that Optimus' counterstrike turns their coordination into a total mess, where Megatron couldn't shoot correctly 'cause of Grindor's ripped hand, where Starscream's bullets harms Grindor's face instead of Optimus and where no one could help Megatron when Optimus gave him a couple of hits.
They practiced that in the lab lmao.
This has to be one of the most incredible feats of special effects in film history. The amount of detail is unbelievable.

This is hands down one of the best CGI fight scenes I've seen. This movie was released back in 2009. I was 10 years old back then and I'm 24 today and I still come back to see this particular scene. Such a masterpiece.

If you ask me this was the absolute peak of the transformers franchise Dark of the moon wasn’t bad but the fact we see Optimus taking on 3 deceptions including Megatron,basically winning while running interference to protect Sam was epic and it has no human intervention like in the later films

Optimus wasn't meant to start trash talking. Peter Cullen hated the fact that Optimus was actually owning Megatron and Megatron gets to call him weak at the end of the fight by calling for backup and doing a sneak attack to kill him. So Peter Cullen talked Micheal Bay into letting them keep it and so they did. So there you have it, a Vulgar Optimus Prime
I mean it's not without precedent, there is the infamous (but hilarious) booby trap line in g1. Actually g1 was no stranger to clowning the decepticons, it was kinda funny.

He cannot kill sentinel because it was his teacher, try to be on optimus situation would you kill your own teacher? If you believe that there's still a way that you can save him from being an enemy? I want to ask if you watch the Tf4 and TF5 i know its not that good but you see how optimus(nemesis) kill the 2 guardian knights? That how he eleminate someone if he doesnt have emotion. It's wild to me how some people call Optimus a bad guy for killing Grindor here. Like bruh, Optimus was getting gang banged by three dudes who are all bigger than him, all three of them were dead set on killing him, and yet Optimus is called a psycho for ripping Grindor's head off. Grindor, Starscream, and Megatron were all trying to kill him, Optimus defended himself. Self defense doesn't always end in the attackers leaving to go lick their wounds. And they didn't, Megatron still came up from behind and killed Optimus.
Oh let's not forget that the Decepticons are literally fighting to harvest the sun in this movie, which would kill all life on planet Earth. But yeah, Optimus is a bad guy for trying to save humanity from a war they have no part in.
I guess it's just like in Age of Extinction. The Autobots fight and die for us squishy humans in a war. War has casualties, it's not pretty. This sounds ridiculous until you realize it's exactly what's going on in the fanbase. The Decepticons are being sympathized with despite being literal extraterrestrial terrorists, but the Autobots are being slandered because they couldn't save 'em all. These people are warped, they need to get their minds straight.

I’ll never forget it, when I watched in theaters back in 2009, I was so excited to see Optimus kick so much ass, but as soon as I saw him get stabbed and blow up, that was when my nine year old self cried in tears as my beloved hero died in front of me and that was when I lost hope for the good guys throughout the movie until he got resurrected later on making me scream in excitement. This movie might be shit to many, but I will always love it for all the childhood memories.

This was such a badass fight scene. If the movies had more of this, less humping dogs, and the writing hadn't gotten lazier with each successive movie, we might still have some epic giant robot fights going on in the theaters.

If he were to spare one, they would probably end up backstabbing him cowardly strategically, and literally (which was the cause of his death). He took his eyes off of Megatron for 1 second to check if Sam was ok, and he just took the cheap shot and killed Optimus

That's why he's the best Prime in the history of the Autobots. It took a bit of luck and cunning for Megatron to defeat him. Got to give the Decepticons credit for holding for so long though. They had good armor.
