    Most people don't know how to start a business. They would benefit by listening to this video. It helps if the demand for wood is increasing at the same time you are trying to sell.

    Wonderful. It might actually cost you more to buy timber and have it season for a year. Your cash is stuck there. Buying drying selling might actually be cheaper. Great job!!! Merry Christmas!

    Hey Archie! I throughly enjoyed having a sit and listening to your story this evening! You’re absolutely hands down a very driven hard worker whom is clearly motivated and focused on your goals in mind with building a great and successful business 🔥💯👍! I found this video quite inspiring and heartfelt to be honest and wanted to thank you for sharing this with us! It was really great to hear about and see some photos from the beginning of your business journey! This in turn I found helped answer some other questions I had along the way while going through your previous content. Also, hearing about your TH-cam journey thus far was neat too! I’ve enjoyed going back in your catalog of videos and getting caught up since finding your channel in the later part of this year! For me, I enjoy watching all the great firewood content out there in TH-cam and at one time Archie, I used to do firewood for our home heating, but circumstances changed throughout the years and it’s been quite awhile since I’ve been on the working end of a saw or a splitter! But with that being said, I’ve always appreciated in general the hard work that doing firewood takes and for myself, I thoroughly enjoy it an hope to get back doing it soon, but for now TH-cam is a great way to keep that firewood itch burning for me lol :).
    Anyways Archie, I want to extend a sincere thanks for having such great content / channel and for taking us along on your business journey! Really love the channel and keep up the great work! Looking forward to what’s to come in the new year with Oak Farm Firewood! Have a very Merry Christmas and happy new year and I will definitely see you on the next one! Cheers! Andrew from NB, Canada :)

    Great video. Love it. So great to hear how you bootstrapped the business.
    WRT wholesale; keep them. Increase production. If they’re not profitable enough then increase your price. They might leave, but also they may not. If you turn them away they certainly leave.
    WRT loans; that’s obviously necessary, but you’re loaning it to keep piles of wood sitting in the yard. You need inventory, but keep that wood moving as fast as possible. 750 seasoned bags sitting in a shed for half a year that’s almost 100k that you’re not repaying, but paying interest on.
    Also that second barn, it may be necessary, but it’s costly. Moving all that wood around (between the oak farm and the 2nd barn) is costing you time and thus money, but doesn’t add any value to the product (ie it would be equally good if you stored it on site). That’s on top of the rental fee.

    • @oakfarmfirewood
      @oakfarmfirewood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes very true! I am pushing for another barn at oak farm but time will tell. Ibc’s are the way to go at the moment for the kiln dried stuff! The rent on second barn isn’t that bad and moving the bags didn’t cost to much if I’m honest! It’s a huge help having stuff ready to go, I’ll give the second barn another year I think

    Hi Archie, really enjoying your channel, looking forward to seeing what your future plans are.
    Solar can make sense for your business because your using power when the system will be producing, as long as the sun is shining. Don't look at the cost now look at how it will be over the life of the system, at least 25 years for the panels. Here in Australia our electricity prices have tripled in the last 3 years so factor in that the cost of electricity will also just keep going up.

    So, solar electricity: I think you might want to talk to Good Energy. They're a fantastic company who buy and sell just renewable electricity (they sell gas too but have some way of offsetting the fossil carbon involved) and they might be very interested in working with you; the fact you're providing renewable/low carbon heating fuel may well be attractive to them. Obviously I have no idea of how much they'll pay YOU for solar (that you don't use as it's made) but I buy my power from them and sell my excess PV electricity to them. Tell them Compost John in York recommended them - I was their very first customer in my city, back in 1999.

    The only advice I can give you is if you can keep producing enough wood to supply to keep up with your retail customers and wholesale do them both. If you have more retail then you can keep up then look at your options to drop wholesale. Peace.

    Hallo archie, i followedyour advice and bought a drying kit from germany. A hot air system from schreiber anlagenbau which i fuel with my Hargassner hot water gassicationer. I have a question relating to this. How much fuelwood do you need for drying one cage of firewood. How may cages do you fit in the container? Regards Rutger from holland.

    • @oakfarmfirewood
      @oakfarmfirewood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use an ibc of fuel every 24 hours but I’m drying 27 cages in 4 days or 54 in 6-7 days from green! If you are drying already seasoned/part seasoned you can half them numbers
