You can go out and have fun without alcohol, my friends don't drink either, and if they do, just a little, you just need the courage to say no thanks to alcohol.
Hi chico, ive discovered your channel couple weeks ago i'm suprised with the amazing quality of the videos and the chill vibes coming from your vids. Terveisiä Helsingistä👍😎
I like your channel Chico, good honest words about alcohol you bring out here. Thanks! I'm in Finland too, native, living in capitol area. And I'm just having a small drink once or twice a year maybe, just for the taste of it, which isn't very nice. But still beats getting tipsy or mildly drunk for the less good reasons, to me at least.
I also gave up alcohol several years ago. I drank purely as a social thing because I struggle to make friends. However, I realised that the kinds of friends I was making while drunk were not good friends, the kind who are there for you in a crisis. Even one drink made me physically feel as though I have been poisoned, and it didn't feel worth it anymore. Eventually I met my husband, who also decided not to drink, due to the effects of alcoholism on his family, and I'm so happy to be with someone who feels the same. I don't miss drinking at all.
I recently had a similair revalation, though i still drink on occasion, but never do i ever rely on it being the sole thing that makes my evening worthwile
I personally prefer beer from small breweries, house beer or foreign beer, try avoid Koff/Karhu/Olvi and so on if possible. Wonder if there's so called mocktail bars in Helsinki area...
interesting story i also stopped drinking but mostly because it caused me more problems than not i found my fun in travel and training as same story hangovers and lonely feeling was overwhelming but in this loniless i also found beuty
Alcohol doesn't make me feel good. It make my heart beat faster. I makes me feel sleepy. It makes me feel dizzy. That's not what I consider feeling better. I don't drink alcohol almost at all. As a very introverted and clearly autistic person I don't spent time in bars anyway.
I’m always so confused when people say alcohol makes them feel good and confident because I don’t get it. I don’t like how alcohol tastes and I don’t like how it makes me feel sleepy and tired. I drink very rarely and I do it at home. I’m autistic but I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or just me being an introvert or something. But yeah I can’t relate to Finnish drinking and Bar culture at all. Anyway very nice video, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I almost never drink those generic beers like Koff and Lapin kulta. Finnish crafted beers are really good and they have been popular in Europe since the medieval times.
Drinking alcohol is like borrowing happiness from tomorrow. Actually I think that the Danish drinking habits of the 70s and 80s was healthier than the weekend benders it's turned into. Back then, in most work places, a beer with your lunch was acceptable. Pretty much like you describe your after-work beer... it wasn't excessive, people weren't stumbling around or anything. Anyway corporate guidelines, inspired by the US, and work space safety rules slowly but surely squeezed our drinking habits into the weekends. Drinking 10-11 bottles of beer 2 nights a week is way more unhealthy than 3 beers a day 7 days a week. But as with any stimulating substance 0 is always healthier than any, be it caffeine, nicotine, alcohol or what's worse. Just like I couldn't go vegan because I like good tasting food more than I like spicy food, I couldn't reach 0 on any of the 3 above... I've switched from burning tobacco to steaming (vape) tho... don't need the tar. I usually don't drink more than 4 cups of plain coffee a week, and perhaps what equals 7 cans of beer per week, but never in one sitting. I could live healthier... but I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy living at that point, then what's the purpose of living longer? Just like, what's it worth to earn more money than you have time to spend?

Exactly that! It’s just so normalised

What a lovely comment! Thank you! Welcome aboard! 🎉
Beautifully said and you also have a fantastic speaking voice. Thanks for the motivation.

Thank you so much! Great to hear that you have a great handle on your consumption! Very cool

@chico muya thank you for your interesting content. I would like to ask you what camera you are using. The image quality is excellent.

I live in Oulu, and I'm Finnish, I don't drink alcohol either, I only drank once, and I can say that you don't lose anything by not drinking.
You’re definitely one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have a need for it! More power to ya!

Yup! Small breweries are much better. But average people don’t usually seek those out. I have yet to see a mocktail bar 🤔

I fully agree with one thing. Once alcohol becomes a crutch, it just keeps you limping...

You can have fun without drinking. I can drink without having fun. Jokes aside, great video!
There are a ton of great craft beers here, they will just make you go bankrupt after a month of drinking.
