I must admit, I discovered Guthrie only a few months ago but he's already one of my favourite guitarists out there. He's such a humble person but such an incredible musician. Guthrie to me carries the baton as the guitarist's guitarist for our generation.
I know what he means though lol I remember thinking he’s mad genius looking yes, but always kinda considered him young. Seeing this it’s like oh wait he’s older now. Idk caught me off guard
Man, Guthrie is so simple and humble. A "Natural Genius". I mean, all of us know that he practice (or use to, at least) a lot, but as a truly artist -- in the literal sense of the term -- his music is definitely so much more then his absolutely accurate technique. In other words, it involves good taste, wisdom, tact and finally performance. Hands down, sir.
I love Guthrie, jeg elsker Norge. Wish I could have been there. Saw him in buffalo NY earlier this year with the aristocrats and it was a phenomenal show. So well spoken and genuinely humble, this man is a treasure.
I love how Guthrie talks about music, thanks him I got a different vision of that. Is like speaking you got a vocabulary, phrases, you can speak with a lot of different tones. It's beautiful thinking about music in this mindset.
absolutely a mosntrous beast of a musician! One of the best guitarists today. And a humble fellow. Had the honor to meet him and chat for a few minutes several years ago.
the aristocrats: guthrie, Marco, Bryan are quite simply (for me) unique, they bring with their albums, Culture Clash, Tres Caballeros, You Know What ...? an unrivaled renewal! no rock / jazz / psyche / crazy is not dead! and I'm glad to listen to you everyday !! SPECIAL DEDICASSE TO: BURIAL AT SEA I love you you are awesome !!
No, I didn't get that feel, being a European, Guthrie probably has to repeat himself a few times because of the language barrier with broken English and what not, he is very shy and generous most of the time. I thought it was a light hearted very brief run down. Guthrie from what I have seen in other interviews is not a tech explainer, nor cares to be, he is more philosophical about his approach and if playing, extremely technical on the guitar when doing classes or sit-ins. If that interview was done WITH his guitar on him, I think it would have been more playful and longer. He just loves to play, and we are the benefactors of his incredible talent! He is one of my favorite guitarists, I think I have watched almost every vid he has done. The maestro!
I think that Guthrie in his brain Is not "listening" but analizing the notes and tempo of the interviewer's talk and choosing the best answer and séquence of movement like a solo And nailing It
I'm grateful for any chance to hear Guthrie speak. This seems like a squandered opportunity though. I wish the interviewer had put some questions forth that hadn't already been answered in virtually every other interview. I can't help but speculate that he's thinking "How many times do I have to answer the same questions?" The FX-8 on the board was a new one for me - so I did learn that.
I love love love GG and his playing and teaching and humor and everything, his charvel collab is so amazing and thought out…except wish he had a warmer smoother chewier chonkier guitar tone, like a Tom Quayle or 90’s Anastasio or Eric Johnson or holdsworth tone, GG is just a little fizzy, maybe it’s lost in translation bc I’ve never caught him live, feel the same about max ostro who I love, his tone is a little fizzy with the smooth base tone there. Just projecting my taste onto what I love.
This video confirms it, just as he shakes hands, he is always holding a pick, I bet the inside of his pants right pocket has some strings stitched to it so he can always be practicing something
I was on this concert, right up front at the center of the stage, and even got a fistbump from the man himself! It was just an amazing night, with fantastic music! The Aristocrats are really worth to check out if you are into guitars and interesting music🤘🏻🎸🎵
Well i guess i was right. i need one of those Enki double cases... they're like $500 lol im pretty sure you can take the lid off and the case can act as a a double stand. pretty cool case lol
Fly dates definitely. He carries his whole rig as hand luggage on the plane, that way you don't risk cancelling a gig because your gear was lost by airport handling companies, or having to play whatever backline amp they give you.
This is the man who should be recorded as much as possible for the next generations to recognize.
GG has such a lovely way with words and speaking
Brits usually sell more of words than overall talent...... barring a few !!
Dipankar de sarkar really stupid comment. Maybe the fact that he went to Oxford and studied English could be the reason?
@@KUDGHAT1 You definitely don't sound very talented right now

A very articulate man. His vocabulary is as precise as his picking. And you'll notice there is nary an "Uh" or "Like," in his speech.
Guthrie will forever be my favorite guitarist.
To be honest...
He is actually the most addicting guitarist 🥺✨🔥
Guthrie Govan is totally grounded. No petulant star. A great musician 😎👍
"Likewise..." 👍
He's an English Aristocrats
Correcting his sentence from "If I wasn't.." to "Were I not so grateful" 🤣 he studied English literature
*likewise*

A gentleman, and a scholar.
Virtuosity in playing - Philosophy in talking! So inspirational! Thanks!
The greatest in the world. Such a sophisticated and well articulated man as well.
Mr Guthrie is getting old i cant imagine a life without him, hes one of the most talented humble and coolest guy
Bro he’s not dying lol
Don't worry. You'll be gone too. We'll all be.
He is only 47...that is not old.
He just smokes a lot
I know what he means though lol I remember thinking he’s mad genius looking yes, but always kinda considered him young. Seeing this it’s like oh wait he’s older now. Idk caught me off guard
Such a humble man and an extraordinary guitarist ... cheers 🍻
I have been following Everything that G.G. does. He is such an Inspiration for me. Just a Phenomenal Guitar Player.
Such an incredible sincere man and frighteningly wonderful musician.

Hands down, sir.
I saw him last night in Newcastle. He was amazing. He pitched a melody above the fret board using pick scrapes. That's just not normal.

The only guitarist in the world who could best the devil in a music battle alone
I think the devil would just show up to watch Guthrie play. There's no contest really :)
Did he just say 'Im sure you have a passion for music as well' to Guthrie Govan.
Yes, pretty ridiculous thing to say
My favourite quote of his is "Obviously, we have the man"
he's so humble guy i love him

He is so fun to listen to speak- no prevention, and witty.
05:25 the gauges and tunings.
One of the G.O.A.T.
THE GOAT
So wise and humble..
Another impossibly great fusion guitarist. I'm also a huge Greg Howe fan but Guthrie Govan is right up there at the top of that stratosphere!
Un guitarrista increíble .
My jaw always drops when guthrie talks.... Noy only is he humble... But it seems thwt6he struggles in talking....
Saw these guys on Toronto Canada in July, best live show I've been to in my life!
Guthire is so amazing!
A truly amazing musician.
Guthrie is such an unassuming cat. Totally dig his style.
Yay a new Guthrie video its been ages!!
Brian Dennehy yea man!
Fabulous guitarist and really nice chap.
I was just thinking the other day, that where are the new Guthrie videos?!!
Guuuuuthrie ❤️ my a big favorite! Hello from Russia 🇷🇺 A cold place too)
6:21 .. we were curious yes 😂👍🏻. Great interview, thanks for sharing.

Saw them in Vienna. Unbelievable playing and fantastic tone.
Guthrie the Grey!
one of inspiring musicians in musical history
I saw him with the Aristocrats last week in Tlv it was great, one of the best concert I ever saw thank you Guthrie , Marco and Bryan.
Oh wow, when did D'Addario pick him up? He was using Rotosound Yellow's for years.

Very humble
I saw you last September! Great to see you on TH-cam for at least a minute again!
I can listen it all day.. love guthrie love this channel!
I love D'Addario NYXL ✨
The guy is obsessed with rehersals
I need to go to his concerts!
“the chicken is from the turkey”😂

He looks more and more like Ian Anderson circa 1968 every time I see him. He just needs a flute and a codpiece to complete the illusion
Haha!! I’ve thought that since I first saw Guthrie!
Should dress up as him for Halloween lmao
Anderson was handsome, though.

Oh, I'm a 1000 subscriber. Nice video ;)
Guthrie G is a guitar wizard
I force myself to practice drums...were I any good at it I might enjoy it
Guthrie is a scholar and gentleman
New Guthrie video! It's fucking Christmas!!!
Interviewer: "We're passionate about music. I'm sure there is passion for music in your life as well."
Guthrie: "Yea you could say that" (unspoken)
Man, I would love a pint with this guy...Wouldn't even talk about music with him because he's probably sick of it
Damn the road is hard on GG. He's on the go
DiAddario 10s are my favorite strings. That guitar is not battered. It is character marks.
And up goes the price of second hand fractal FX8s.
So glad I went over to the Fractal FX8 for my effects. Fantastic piece of kit.
If Guthrie see this comment, yes, we all do miss you! It's been a while since we last saw Guthrie in youtube. #yay
he's literally the center of my life XD
He reminds me of Ian Anderson.
Without the appalling pomposity and mean spirit.
name of the song from the end of the video?
Well i guess i was right. i need one of those Enki double cases... they're like $500 lol im pretty sure you can take the lid off and the case can act as a a double stand. pretty cool case lol
Jam in A. Wait for the magic to happen.
See that guy, his the best!
You were Lucky that Bryan didn’t catch you filming during the concert 😁🤪
Its nice to see a porky toy at him shows, i use a slinky (like toy story) over my amp, goes with me wherever i go to play
Picks?
May you live for eternity
Me after lots of practise- m getting better
Guthrie music- you sure?
This gig was unearthly!!
the worlds best guitarrist
Guthrie talks as if he's an extra from Robin Hood. Awesome player.
Cool guy.... he looks a lot like Ian Anderson.
ive been looking at kemper stage, axe8, helix, headrush, and to me the axe has sounded best, and if its good enough for gutrhie should be fine for me!
Go for the Axe FX2. The two rig stereo setup is just unbelievable.
Omg he's so talented.. Awesome guitar player and lead singer of the Darkness
Lead singer of The Darkness? That's Justin Hawkins. What are you on about?
I hear he is quite skilled
GUTHTTRIIEEE YEESSS!!!! holy shit!!!
Some people sweat from their pores. Guthrie's simply ooze talent.
GG doesn't have a bad day.
Forgive me but would this gentleman be the perfect guitar player for Jethro Tull
He left rotosound!?
The Alan Partridge of guitars
It's been years and no one has told Guthrie he needs hair conditioner.
Perhaps it's like telling Samson that he needed a hair cut. Magic gone
I quit playing once because of him.
The next day I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started practicing again.
7:16 I marked those words as savage
Steven Wilson w gg was the best
Where is off scale Wilson these days ? By the way....... he he hee !
Guthrie the Gray channeling his inner Gandalf.
whats the song at the begining of the video?
Hell Yeah - Instrumental Version by Ride Free
We got it from Artlist.io
This sounds like Pearson conversations
Jam in A and wait for magic to happen 😂😂😂
I wonder why he switched away from the gig rig
Fly dates definitely. He carries his whole rig as hand luggage on the plane, that way you don't risk cancelling a gig because your gear was lost by airport handling companies, or having to play whatever backline amp they give you.
