    Genius! Love that you designed the pedal drive to fit an existing proven kayak design. The fact that this fits your existing models is awesome. I remember trying one. It was smooth and pretty much silent. It had a really tight turning radius and was very responsive. Best of all pedal drive system is easily removable for shallow river runs.

    I've been waiting for this to hit the market for my F12. Two things Sir, make the cable and steering handle ambidextrous so I can mount it on my right side of the yak not just the left. Second consider two grommets we can use with two holes, one on the front and one on the back so we can run the cable under the decking so we have less chances of getting snagged on it and to just keep the clean open deck. I havnt rigged my F12 yet because I want this on it first so I can rig in conjunction with the pivote drive. Thank you for the awesome products & the even better customer service!!!

    • @nucanoe

      Glad you are excited about the Pivot Drive! Left side mounting would require a different steering bracket and a different transom bracket, which we will have available. Running the flex cable under the deck would be very tricky. I think you'll find that have the cable run along the seat base channel will keep it out of the way. It was not properly secured in our video, we will have that fixed in the next one.

    I am really excited for this. My wife and I have decided to upgrade frohm our cheap Perception Swifty 95 s to the NuCanoe Flint, but have been waiting for the Pivot Drive to become available. We would be glad to test the unit for NuCanoe if that would be any help. We would have to purchase the Flints in order to do that.

    Removing weeds on the propeller looks like its going to be a pain. On my pescador pilot when the prop gets caught up in weeds, it creates a lot of resistance when pedaling.

    This system is going to be awesome for addition to other platforms, just seems like a good retrofit option. In this video I feel the operator's COG on the orange yak is too high. If the yak was larger/wider it might be better. Thanks for sharing.

    Can’t wait for the drive to be ready, I have one question. The belt on the prop shaft, I notice it is exposed. I am concerned about weeds those dreaded weeds, where all those killer bass love to hang out are going to get caught up in the prop shaft belt. Not a deal breaker, love the idea of the product. Just a suggestion from the latest video.

    • @nucanoe
      @nucanoe  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The belt on the H2ProDrive is exposed in the same manner, and weeds do not get caught in it. If any weeds get caught up, its much more likely to be on the prop itself than the belt.

    4 questions. Does the turning lever interfere with 360 seat? If you get weeds around prop, will they come off if you reverse or do you have to go to shore to remove? Can I still turn with a black pak in the back? Why the Heck are these so expensive? You can buy a top of the line mountain bike for that, or a flint.

    Nice overview. Kayak has a very modern look and feel. Is there a reason for not concealing the cables in the hull? Most fishermen like their deck area free. While fishing anything and everything will get tangled. While the gentleman was turning in the video, I have noticed the kayak leaning to one side. I am digging the drive system only disadvantage I see for folks who fish in weed infested waters. It will be a pain to clear that prop. I am in south florida I would love to demo it when it is out.

    • @nucanoe
      @nucanoe  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the drive cable is properly secured, it will not be very noticeable or in the way. Running it through the hull could be possible but would present many other challenges too!

  • @wdh1068

    I am shopping for my first Kayak for fishing. I'm leaning toward a NuCanoe Frontier 12. I like the options for propulsion and this drive is a key consideration. However, I can only cartop this for transport. I like the wheels/cart accessory for wheeling and cartopping. It seems I need to put the kayak on top in an upside down position. So, 2 questions: 1) Does the steering control bracket hinder cartopping (if I understood the video, everything else can be removed easily)? 2) does the transom mount block the hole for the wheels? It would be great to see a video of how someone with a pivot drive would load and unload their Frontier from the rack to really help me decide.

    • @nucanoe
      @nucanoe  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! on your questions: 1) it can be easily removed on all models, just a little different initial install process on 2018 and prior models. 2) Yes, it does. You could remove the transom bracket, which would take about 2-3 minutes, or use the C-Tug cart. Good idea on a video showing transport and car topping, we'll add that to the list!

    • @wdh1068
      @wdh1068 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nucanoe Thanks for the quick reply!
      So for 1) the answer is "yes, it hinders car topping" but you can remove it. Right? the video shows that this bracket is screwed into the side of the kayak. So, I have to use a screwdriver, unscrew the screws, store them (without losing them), and then screw it back in with every trip? not saying it's a deal breaker, but certainly a concern. As I've never had a kayak, I have no idea how those holes will hold up. After a few ins and outs, will the screw holes strip? Any experience with this?
      and for 2) I guess my only concern is the same thing - I think the screws there were bolts with easy remove knobs, but will those holes wear out? I like the small wheels for keeping in the boat so I don't have to hike back to the car to store them. The C-Tug cart is something that would have to go back to the car, I think.
      One last question - the propulsion options as I said are key for this boat. Love them. I'm thinking that the pivot drive and a bow mounted trolling motor are compatible? meaning, they can be installed concurrently, right?
      Thanks again.

    • @S1avk0
      @S1avk0 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, this is a ton better than a drive specific model. I can use this when i want and take it off when i dont. Also it reduces the barrier to entry for someone that cant afford the pedal drive at the same time they buy the kayak. I like the idea that the prop kicks up if it hits something, instead of having to lift a pedal unit and lay it across my kayak.

      Gerry Shappell No Gerry, it’s not better...... I witnessed this first hand at the Portland F&O expo.... its functionality sound for sure, but it’s a nightmare to prep. And all that crap running across the deck is as messy as it looks. They will produce a drive specific yak sooner than later.

      @@theblake5356 that's your opinion and mine is mine. I personally like the idea of kayak that can be changed from one mode to another based on the body of water i need it for... and not having to buy one pedal kayak and another non pedal kayak like a lot of the guys in my local kayak group.
