The rest of us who finished college, work, can afford hellcats, & appreciate the good products coming out of Chevy & Ford, look forward to going to the dealer and getting a Dodge Demon. Demon is a perfect name for this masterpiece of a car.
I have a '16 M6 Hellcat, and a 100hp increase was pretty simple. A similar looking set of forgeline wheels on with 325mm wide rears with 305mm fronts, greatly improved grip. I just don't see it matching the ZL1's track performance, the car weighs nearly 4500 lbs. It's a bigger, more comfortable muscle car. It cruises effortlessly, with amazing straight line performance.

The problem with modern muscle cars is that, aside from acceleration, none of them are fun to drive. For stability, they're planted on low-profile tires, meaning that every anthill you go over is like being smacked in the spine with a hammer, and side-impact airbags mean the door sill comes up to your ear, meaning you can't tool around with your arm on the sill like you used to do. And the lack of bench seating -- how is your girl supposed to snuggle up next to you?

The reason that the "Demon" nameplate failed in the 1970s was due to the fact that people were much more prudish back then. That level of controversy won't be a factor in a society obsessed with so called reality TV. Simply not an issue. This car is going to be a smash hit in a culture that is just as much in love with throw backs as it is with itself.
People had more sensibilities, and are sufficiently dumbed down as evidenced by the scripted "reality TV" is what you are saying. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Im surprised Chrysler does not release a more compact RWD car and put the Demon Nameplate on that. On that note, I know the nameplate would be a little wrong, but why not have a more mild version under the Duster, or even the next Dodge Dart, considering the current FWD Dart is to be discontinued by 2018.

Demon is a great name, this isn't the 70's anymore.
The Demon was an A body and the Challenger was an E body. The A body was smaller and lighter. The original Demon was a duster with a Dart nose. Using the Demon name again is stupid, but look what they call a Dart now!
The reason the Demon name didn't work the first time around was that it was attached to a lowly, entry-level little old ladies car - the Dodge Dart. While it was a decent entry level muscle car, your grannie didn't like seeing any Demon references sitting next to a Dart on the lot when you go looking at cars for her.
I always liked that name because dodge was really a car for a rebel and that name always made more sense for dodge to have demons name then a company that names a car "volt

FYI, you can buy the AWD Challenger right now, but it is only offered with the V6.If Dodge had released a V8 AWD Challenger, I would have traded my 13 charger R/T AWD in the next day. I would not rule out an AWD Demon, however it is more likely they will take some lessons from Ford's factory built Mustang drag car so the car can hook up better and offer it alongside the Hellcat as the more specialized drag version of the car.

i'm hearing 80,000US, and close to 900HP. Demon is an awesome name to bring back, the car is retro after all.
but you know, that shelby gt350r super snake, looks more sinister, especially in black. not to mention it would run circles around the challenger awd or not.
I just got word last Satyrday from someone who works at the assembly plant where the Demon is being built and he said its going to be just over 900 HP with a price tag of $100,000 CDN which is about $76,000 U.S. And going by that license plate teaser #2576@35 tells us that the torque will be 750lbs/ft which is 100 more than the Hellcats 650lbs/ft. When the Hellcat first came out no one expected a Big 3 car company would make a production car mire than 200HP more than their best SRT model but it was the only thing that made sense because anything less wouldn't have been financially viable. That extra 200 HP creates approx 13mph of top end speed. So it make sense that they are doing another 200HP increase. That will give it a top speed of 212 compared to Hellcats 199mph. Only doing 50-100 HP isn't worth it. That would only be 4-8 extra mph! After all this buildup and hype with 3 months of teaser videos, anything less than 200HP would be a joke. I think "909HP " has a good ring to it. Going from 707-909. Remember this post. Also, no one cares one bit about what model was named what 45 years ago. Most people buying these cars don't remember anything from 45 years ago. They were just being born. The Demon name is perfect. As is the Demon face logo . Having NITTO make special tires just for this car with that evil face on them is genius.
I just bought a 2020 RT Scat Pack 1320. They are nice cars and more comfortable than the Mustang or Camaro. It definitely needs the big rubber.

Did anyone else notice that the white prototype car pictured toward the end of the video had NT05R's on the front and rear? Definitely pointing toward AWD, otherwise why would you have a drag radial tire on the front?

There is no way the Demon would be released with 750hp if they want to attract buyers. Add a smaller pulley and a tune to existing Hellcat and you've more than surpassed 750 crank hp.

I was going to go with a hellcat... but wound up getting a 727 HP Mustang GT (Dealer-installed Roush SC) for $44K out the door (with an A6.)
I really, really like the Challenger... but couldn't justify the extra 20 to 25G.
See, it's easy to bust the bank to go fast. But I ould love to take the difference in money between what I paid and what one of these costs... dump it into my Mustang and then compare the two. It wouldn't even be close.

I'm a huge car nut and and I have a hellcat and welcome the Demon. But have to agree a better name could have been given. The ominous names they use are not so great for me. A Hellcat R would be cool or as mentioned a challenger GTR also sounds good.

Demon name is fine. It's part of Dodges heritage. So why change the name cause some people have nothing better in their life, but to complain. Same thing happened to Plum Crazy Purple. Its original name was changed to what we have now.
Name it the Dodge Challenger Bamm-Bamm or the Dodge Challenger Pow-Pow so nobody gets offended.

Well, I was smart about my purchase. I have the 15' SRT loaded with 8speed. I will upgrade the motor myself to handle a aftermarket supercharger. Yes, this will void warranty when I decide to do so. The 707 Hellcat is not a dependable construct and falls short of the true potential. The Demon is just another flavor of the same. If you go the way I do be prepared to start replacing all of the exterior plastic with carbon fiber. Have fun!

Check your facts.... GT does not have 20" tires, only available with 19" and fender flares were scrapped. No flares. Also the Demon will NOT be AWD.

Something happened along the way, I don't think their is something wrong with the name. i think their is something wrong with the designers, it seems they just keep putting a new power plant on the same old body. In the golden age of muscle cars Dodge had several power plants for their models. now it's one car many power plants. Lacks imagination. it's becoming old. at least with the other makers they revise the car along with the power plant. next we'll see a very tall wing on another Challenger, and call it a Super Bee.
