Anxious and avoidant attachment in a friendship.
P.S. it wasn't my intention to blame parents. Except some extreme cases, I believe our parents do the best they CAN.

Awwww I couldn't agree more! I personally think M&S have reached a mutual agreement of sorts where they give and take from each other, kind of like what you said. Moomin is accepting of Snufkin's feelings and needs and gives him his space and in return Snufkin gives him his continuous company except in winter when he goes off to be on his own. In return, Moomin learns some things from Snufkin as in how to appreciate solitude for example and in trying to be more like yourself and not admire others _too_ much, whereas Snufkin becomes aware that it's ok to show how he feels and to be vulnerable by letting himself be loved. At least, that's what I think and would like to think is the direction MV19 is going in ^^
I agree with every word you said. I believe there's a great lesson for all of us. Excited to see where Gutsy will take it in S3. :)

actually if anything, snufkin's behavior would stem from his upbringing, which was not by mymble and joxter. in coment in moominland (book where snufkin was introduced) he mentions that he has no family and he was "found in a basket" and since he doesn't recognize either of his parents it's safe to assume he probably was raised in an orphanage. maybe he had a moominpappa thing going on but he turned out a different way. moominpappa turned out outgoing and goofy but snufkin is much shyer.
if you wanna get into the psychology of mymble children though all i'm saying is that children act out to get attention and little my isn't exactly the quiet and well-behaved type...

Maybe that is true and he ust found out about his family when he was a bit older? It could explain how Little My acknowledged him as her brother in season 2
5:56 It hurts to think that... _this_ is their last interaction in the series so far. In the show's timeline (as of Season 3 Episode 1) it looks like they've been apart for almost a year now. A winter in hibernation is one thing, but this is another.
Maybe Moomin will come back like "Hey look! I went on an adventure all on my own, that means we're even!" but that's just a theory.

I love the idea that Moominmama's upbringing of young Moomin wasn't flawless. In a universe of unique, quirky and (for a children's series) rather welldeveloped characters, she always felt a bit one note and thiking about how she may have gad her own problems that she managed to overcome makes me appreciate her even more.
I feel envy of their friendship. I have a really hard time finding and keeping friends because I had bad experiences with them since I was child. Other people where acting friendly occasionally but not caring about me or being friends with me at all with was really disappointing to me. Some of them were making fun of me without me at first realising. I also have hard time reading people's intentions. So I just tend to have distance to other people now and not be open about myself.
I'm probably autistic so that's might be one of the reasons why its so difficult. I really wish I had close friend who would respect who I am and I could spend time with, I hope I find someone in the future.

It upsets me how much I can relate to Snufkin (though my family life was/is a different kind of bad). The biggest difference is that the one friend I trusted pushed for a type of relationship I couldn't give (I'm asexual), and not only did he not try to understand but wound up eventually....exposing himself.
I've put up emotional walls and don't let anyone close now. The only company I can rely on are my animals.

Loved the analysis!! The way you described them and explained the posible reasons of their personalities just suits so much. I still have faith in S3, in S2 it is very clear that both of them are still growing up and are putting effort in understanding each other because they want their friendship to continue without being uncomfortable with their needs. I would even say that Snufkin is half of the reason Moomin has decided that it was time to mature, and Moomin is a very important part of Snufkin's life as well 💚 The season ended up in a transition point for their friendship so I hope everything turns out well.
