Things I’ve learned from this version of the Moomins: 1. Snufkin is a cold-blooded murderer from way back 2. Apparently Moomin is prone to falling off cliffs
See what’s funny is even if the subtitles weren’t there, the animation proves that this still would be unhinged as shit, snufkin on santas sleigh before it cuts to Santa in jail, *i won’t hesitate moomin* while laughing with a gun, the solid minute of snork and moomin beating the shit out of eachother, all that is literally insane with or without subtitles
I think the most WTF moment here is Moominpappa pulling up Snork's blanket. Seriously, what the hell?! And what was he going to do with that hammer?! Edit: I found the real episode, and it turns out this video plays the scene in reverse. Well played.
1. I'M WHEEZING LMAO, and 2. that barrel chasing scene is actually pretty cute! Maybe its obvious, but in case others haven't noticed, Moomin was desperate to reach abd protect the barrel bc he thought Snufkin was inside, that's why he was relieved wheb he saw that Snufkin was never in the barrel to begin with. Cuties 🥰
I like to think that this version of Moominvalley is a few years before the current Moominvalley. That being said they had obviously moved away to forget everyone’s crimes and not get caught by the police
It is crazy even without subtitles. I perfectly understand why Tove hated it. How could it be made at all?! And subs goes really well, i am becoming a fan of it. I can't find any rational explanation for what is happening on the screen.
Moomin is quintessentially finnish to me. But also an anime. Which to a Swede is weird because to us It's like "yeah its that finnish cartoon where everyone speaks in a fenno-swedish accent and is kind of laid back" but the anime is totally from the same country as Neon Genesis Evangelion. I legit thought it was a uniquely scandinavian phenomenon growing up. And the realization that it wasn't threw me for a loop initially. "People care about Moomin outside of Scandinavia?" I thought. But ofcourse they do! They're just kind of cozy.
There wouldn't have been 3 different anime if the Japanese weren't aware of it. That's for sure. I think they have Moomin merchandise to this day. Saw some Japanese hard candy with Moomin characters on the tin a couple years back. I wish I went back to get it. Here in the US, though, it's basically a college town comic book store thing, like all Euro-comics. Tintin's the only one that's almost mainstream.
*As a non-japanese person, i can very much confirm that these subtitles are 100% correct*
断片的に編集しているから、悪い作品に見えるだけです。最初から見れば、そんなに悪い作品ではない。

Wait rlly?
60年代、70年代、そして90年代と全てのムーミンは、日本で作られました。
i can't help but admire how chaotic the 60's and 70's moomin adaptations are
I feel like every version of the Moomins is chaotic in its own way, but this version is something else

1:20 this perspective shot is atrocious. It makes Snufkin's tent look like it's the size of an Egyptian pyramid.
A great tent for a great man Id say

These subtitles create a more coherent story than whatever bs the original scripts for these episodes had
I cant even believe these arent real translations at this point 😭 I'm starting to love this version of moominvalley

The Family Guy fight music was PERFECT for the fight scene!😂
2:22 these are not fake translations... I asked Snufkin, and he told me so.
Imagine the Author of the Moomins watching this
sheer horror by her response
2:13 Im sorry I CANT… but I think snufkin should help moomin hide the body 😂
I like to think that this version of Moominvalley is a few years before the current Moominvalley.

Never thought I’d hear Moominpappa say this
I thought that was Snufkin's line
"Sister, you look like shit" Oh damn
Geez, no wonder Jansson hated it.
1:50 is that a Hazbin Hotel reference??
Yep
Yes.
1話をちゃんと最初から観れば、それほど悪い作品ではない。
