- Portlandia and Transparent actress, Sleater-Kinney guitarist, NPR contributor, screenwriter and all-around cool person Carrie Brownstein has spent three years working on a deeply personal and revealing memoir. Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl is a narrative of Brownstein’s life in music, from ardent fan to her days as a guitarist for Excuse 17 - a pioneering band in the Riot Grrrl scene - to her success as both a comedic performer and rock luminary as Sleater-Kinney rose to the top of the indie-rock world. Hear the story of the dawn of the underground feminist punk-rock movement that would define music and pop culture from one of its founding mothers.

Honestly, Carrie is one of the most INTELLIGENT interviewees I have ever seen. As in.. Intimidating. According to Paul, Scripture says her vocabulary is remarkable 😍
Great interview. I'm inspired by her ability to share emotional experiences from the inside.
She is unbelievably humble, clever, and funny.
2 very low key geniuses . An excellent conversation.
My God is Carrie a great writer ! I just love her and it's enjoyable to see her in this well-paced, interesting interview.
Someone boo’ed at the mention of Airbnb. Portlandia was so on point. Still is
Holy F! This was so effing GREAT!!
Great interview!
I love you Carrie and Sleater-Kinney
A glimpse into an entirely different generation and world from ever my own. Delivered through a vessel of massive intuitiveness and hyper intelligence, with lightning-quick wit.
Congratulations!! Beautiful interview!!
Awesome interview

I'm just going to say it..... super cute shoes Carrie..

It IS kinda baller to get outed by Spin Magazine...
Absolute hero
Shout out for the Mission . Still a neighborhood
Comedic Genius
She really carried this interview. He was not a good interviewer- interrupting her to finish his not-funny jokes (~57:10), asking her several distinct questions as an individual question, talking over her in places. Gurgle.
"crush myself against small stages" the Off Ramp in Seattle had a low small stage

more cowbell.....
Why does she look so much like justin long?lol
She totally does! Have you watched Portlandia? She does a male character on that show named Lance and she looks identical to him! So much so that they brought him on as a cameo in one episode.
