I'll 3rd that, being a person who has been to every state outside of Alaska and Hawaii. Also traveled to 30 different countries so far...
People have a choice, you can allow the hate to control you, or you can choose to ignore it a thrive to be happy... There is far more happy out there than hate. Leave the echo chambers that promote and bombard you with hate. The one thing i figured out a couple years ago is when it come to politics, and lets face it that's where the hate thrives, there is only one day a year to let it into my life, and that's election day for about an hour when im voting. After that there isn't anything i can or want do about it.

To Denz: I was about your age when my family visited New York (I’m from Georgia). The younger of my two older sisters and I went up the stairs to the top of the Statue of Liberty. It was even more bare and open then (1986).
I was TERRIFIED and had to hold back from crying but the spiral staircase, once you’re on it, no way to go back down. So….knowing I HAD to commit and was stuck til the end was awful for me. I totally get it, lil bro.
I’m so proud of you that you did! SO proud!
You and I both got to be in the crown of Lady Liberty, despite our fears!

This was a blast to watch! I lived in NY all my life, and worked in NYC for over 26 years. All these things I'd pass by without batting an eye. But seeing it through your family's eyes reminds me of seeing all of it for the 1st time myself!! Glad you guys had a wonderful time!

I’ve been there but just for an hour. Not downtown though. I’ve always wanted to visit, but my husband is against it saying there is nothing to do there. I tried to tell him all the things to do and he said, “boring”. We just can’t agree on a place for a vacation.

You know it's cool watching people appreciate stuff so many of us take for granted. I live a few hours away from NYC and don't think anything of it, but watching you guys enjoy it so much really makes me think how we take stuff for granted. Good video!
That's just how the human brain works. It will always adjust to your situation and that becomes the new normal. New York is only crazy to them because they come from a small town in a small country. If they lived in New York for 6 months they would become accustomed to it and "take it for granted" as well. Its nothing to feel bad about. There's literally no way you couldn't take it for granted.

I had to turn my head when they were on top of the empire state building. I have a fear of heights. Including when they film it.
Same here, if you wanted to kill me all you have to do is put up on three story building and I’m dead 😵🥺😩!
I am the same way, and I am 47 years old,. I can't watch when they are up there or when they film looking up at the tall building I get a very uneasy feeling. but I am happy that they got to experince it for the first time for themselves.
I am afraid of heights, I face my fear by hiking in the mountains or riding a high waterslide I just can't get near the edge, I get this weird sensation in my pelvis, a feeling of being pushed, cannot explain it
How did this fear of heights develop? Was it because of 9/11?

I stayed at a hotel in Times Square back in 2006, mostly a work trip. I had several drinks at an Irish pub/restaurant a few doors down from my hotel, the bartender fed me free shots as long as he was matching them. As I was walking around after I left the pub, full of drink, I inadvertently walked right through a Law and Order: SVU set. Nobody stopped me or said anything, saw Mariska Hargitay down the alley, I just kept walking. One of the funniest moments in my entire life.

I love Denz getting excited for the squirrels. It will make me appreciate waking up to the squirrels in my yard. Growing up my grandma always fed the squirrels and they would get really fat.

Fun fact, cold brew is coffee that is brewed cold, usually overnight. It's milder and less acidic. Iced coffee is just regular brewed coffee that's been put in the fridge.

So true...I think the Mom was referring to how Americans love iced cold drinks. So true...cold brew coffee is much better than regular iced coffee...so much acid in the regular iced coffee.
In New Zealand iced coffee is usually coffee with ice cream. It’s the most amazing thing. I’m in New Zealand as I type, visiting family. NZ iced coffee and Whittaker’s chocolate are required within a day of arrival

@@Todrick451 Is it naturally stronger? When I buy it in the store it always comes concentrated but when I make it myself I don't concentrate it and I don't notice any difference besides the lower acidity.
6:30. Cold Brew & Iced Coffee are actually 2 different things. Iced Coffee is when you add ice to hot coffee. "Cold Brew" is actually made by putting coffee grinds in Cold Water and let it brew/steep for 12-24 hours.
And Cold brew is generally concentrated, so unless it's watered down you can actually put all that ice in there and as it melts it dilutes to "regular" strength.

I work in construction in nyc and have lived here my entire life. I’m regularly at the top of some of the best and tallest buildings in the world. It can and does get lost on me at times how unique of an opportunity I have and how lucky I am to experience this every day. It’s videos like these that help me stop and take time to embrace it. Thank you NZ family. Please come back and check out our beaches, the Yanks and Knicks, Queens food, and Brooklyn nightlife. You can skip Staten Island though 😂😂😂

I am an American and you’ve already been to more places in the US than I have, and I’m LOVING it! I love seeing people who love the USA viewing our country for the first time. I smiled the whole time. The crown of Lady Liberty was closed when I visited. They were doing renovations. It made me proud to know that was the sight that greeted my grandmother when she came from France in 1911 when she was a young girl.
I really hope the RV trip works out! I can’t wait to see more of your experiences. It will be nice to show you the hospitality and quaintness of our small towns as well as the excitement of the metro areas.

So fun fact, cold brew and iced coffee are actually two different beverages. Iced coffee is often just standard brewed coffee poured over ice. Cold Brew is typically made by lining a pan with a towel, then coffee grounds, then pouring water into the pan and letting it steep in the fridge overnight. It completely changes the taste of the coffee when it's brewed hot or cold. :)

Christmas in NYC is so much fun! We do a girls trip every other year in
my family where we fly there after work on Wed or Thurs night and come back on Sunday, one weekend in December. We have such a great time! This year, we are bringing our husbands, because they think they have been missing out! Well, yes, they have!

10:00. Here is a cool story! Back in 1981 my mom was a girl scout leader in a town called Kenilworth, New Jersey. She was famous in New Jersey for creating "unique trips" for Girl Scouts, She called WPIX 11 (a TV channel in New York City) and asked if there was anyway that a Girl Scout Troop could bring sleeping bags to the Empire State Building and sleep on the top floor. My mom told them that they would have the girls take pictures of New York City as the sun rose at 6AM and that WPIX could air the New York skyline from the top floor on the Empire State Building from multiple cameras. I am the son of the girl scout leader so I went on the "girl" scout trips. Guess what I did in 1981!! I slept in a sleeping bag on one of the walkways of the Observation Deck of the Empire State Building--hahaha! Somewhere in the ether there is a news segment from WPIX NY Channel 11 of all of the girls (and me) getting on the elevator at midnight (the Observation Deck had to be closed and cleaned by the janitors) to sleep on the top floor. I woke up around 6AM seeing the sun beaming off the Chrysler Building. Just an incredible forever memory.....11:15. I actually slept on one of those walkways that Nadine & Atlanta are standing on here!!! My eyes in the morning opened to looking out the window--hahaha.

@ct6852 I will always consider myself as a New Yorker however now South Florida is my home. Like any place it's got its good and not so good. The land scape is totally different of course. No palm trees in NY...People are people.
I'm with Denz! When I was 11, my class took a school trip to our state capital building, and we got to go all the way up in the dome. I was terrified of heights and the stairs were open between the treads and had a simple pipe railing. I spent the whole time up against the wall in a panic. My teacher had to hold my hand and basically talk me through each step on the way down. I was sobbing! No shame! The fear was (and is) real!
I love seeing my country thru the eyes of visitors. America is a beautiful country.
Except for your crime ridden major cities and the filth of most of your cities. Homeless everywhere, illegal migrants all over the place, guns, poop covered streets and the drigs of course.

After WW1, a number of theatres were established and by the second decade of the century the Times Square and Broadway area had become arguably the most famous entertainment district in the country, then came tech.
I'm from the U.S from Pennsylvania and when I first visited Manhattan, time Square I was blown away and shocked...I only live about an 1hr 20min away and where I am from and Manhattan are two complete different worlds...it's crazy how much the U.S changes the more you drive through it
I've been waiting for this video, I live in NYC. FAO Schwartz use to be next to where the Apple store is now. That's where it was when BIG was filmed and it was bigger at that location. Glad you had so much fun. As a New Yorker we are so use to all the lights and sounds that we know how to tune it all out. To a tourist I can see how overwhelming it all is.

Interesting fact: the Statue of Liberty is actually on the New Jersey side of the harbor, but Ellis Island is on the New York side. This is why it is no longer on New York car plates. Your family brings joy to my heart. Blessings from the great state of Texas!

I am 63 years old and have never been in the Empire State Building or in the Statue of Liberty or on Times Square and I'm only 90 Mi away😂

Times Square from 9PM to 2AM is so crazy! It's the city that never sleeps baby!!!! You could go to Times Square every night for 2 years and see something you haven't seen before. It's like a block party with so many characters and about 110 decibels of insane noise around you at all times.

I’m from Waterloo and I feel the same way! When I was 18 I visited a lot of Europe and havnt seen anything like it since.. & I’ve never been to an American big city.

I’m 61, born & raised in Northern California. When I was a teen I took the ferry past the statute of liberty.
Never went to the island, let alone in the crown. How special.

Quick note about the coffee: we have both iced coffee AND cold brew here, they’re two different things! Iced coffee is brewed hot and then chilled. Cold brew is brewed with cold water from the beginning. It takes longer and releases more sweetness from the bean so the bitterness is less harsh. I drink cold brews black whereas I can’t with regular iced coffee

Denzel, you are so incredibly brave. I'm terrified of heights. Just watching you and your family up in the crown made my legs weak and my nerves shiver. I could never climb those stairs. You did it! Congratulations! You will always remember this.

Glad you had a good time in New York City! And it's nice to know that you had the experience of realizing that not all New Yorkers are rude and insensitive. You do have to be careful but for the most part, New Yorkers are friendly and outgoing.

My daughter lives in the upper east side… your daughter reminds me so much of her when she was young…I literally have tears in my eye watching your beautiful family enjoy NYC….you are truly a soecisl family and I pray your email as cheerful content and amazed for all of your days…. I had the same epiphany the first time I went to the top of the Empire State Building… it was a beautiful nite… the city light stretched for an eternity… and my 82 year aunt from Ireland cry as she looked out at NYC and she turned to me crying and said “I wish I had travelled when I was younger there are some many wondrous things to see”…. You guys remind of that same feeling… thanks
