I think what you're doing with your children and what you're teaching them in the process is absolutely priceless. Our children thoroughly enjoy being in the garden with me and doing things around the house. Don't let any negative comments get you down. You are an amazing mother and you have an incredible family. I love watching your videos because you're always so peaceful. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

People have to realize that the videos you produce are just a tiny glance into your day. You always stick to your theme of growing, canning and preserving. Of course the kids are part of that. You have a great balance. We see less than percent of your life, some people just don’t get that. I really appreciate the way you explain and share the things you do.

I never understand why people think chores are boring for little kids. My sisters kids loved helping me clean my apartment and doing things like that. Kids learn by doing.

Don’t let people’s negativity get you down. I grew up in a family of 6, four kids, and we did plenty of fun things with Mom and Dad but we also had chores and helped out because it was fun. So many children don’t get to experience this lifestyle because their life is school, sports, and and devices. I see it at the school I work at. They drop things on the floor and leave it there, they don’t know how to do basic things like tying their sneakers. Your doing a great job with your children. Be proud Mom and Dad! ❤️

Always a treat for me to watch the progress of the garden & kids. Yes, always relaxing & edu. Kids today have too many stresses. And learning to CARE* is a task equal to taking responsibility. This allows great development instead of guidance through a computer screen. Which of course does has it's place.👍🥰🏜️

WHAT A BLAST! My grandchildren - like their Dad - grew up in the garden with us, helped prep meals and did laundry. They are SO self-sufficient now in their 20s and I am pleased I had a little to do with that. YOU GO, GIRL! 😊

The little boys picking the berries and eating them along the way, was priceless. My children , who are 35,37,38 still laugh about doing that when helping mom pick strawberries, beans, or tomatoes. These are the blessed memories that stay with them, of being with mom.

Jessica you and hubby are great parents. Do your own thing and do not allow others to dictate to you. The little boys are just fantastic and remember that not only are they having fun but you are also imprinting on them the VALUE of gardening and foraging. I am now 80 years old and when I was young not only was I required to do the dishes along with my two sisters but my mother also took the time to instruct me how to cook. I also took cooking in school and in those days that was unheard of but a great way to meet girls as well. I also got perfect marks for my cooking skills. Mother was so proud of me. When I retired I thought this retirement would be ever so boring with just the garden to tend. So I sat down and had a long talk with myself. I concluded that I knew how to cook so lets do it. It is a billion times more than I can eat in a lifetime so I give most of things away to needy folk in my neighbourhood and now I also have the love and friendship of folk I might never even know. If I require some assistance for a project all I have to do is make a phone call and many people will show up. I am truly blessed. Oh yes congratulations on the baby. Children are a blessing. Great work for your oldest in his baking. Even if he only bakes his future wife a birthday cake, he will be truly blessed.

Joy in homemaking, and helping out around the house or farm is some of the greatest joys in life! I think it’s beautiful to find joy and fun in the very normal things in life. You are SO good at teaching that. Being together-being smart & useful-making someone’s day better! Not always seeking after the next big event or thing to do. Contentment is a prize! Jessica, you and Adam are doing a great job raising great kids!!! Don't let anyone make you think otherwise! I am a mother/grandmother/great grandmother. I follow several large families on TH-cam that homeschool and homestead. I am 100% more impressed with those families (yours included) than the ones whose kids sleep half the day, play video games all night, demand the best shoes, clothes, etc and give ZERO back to the family unit. They have total meltdowns if asked to carry their dinner plate to the sink! Most kids now are lazy, entitled little brats being created by their own parents! You are raising children to be responsible adults. Life isn't just about "fun" but your children seem perfectly content, well mannered, and eager to contribute to their family. I am very, very impressed. I canned 42 pints of pickles and 25 pints of tomato relish. Shredded and froze a lot of zucchini for zucchini bread and zuchini/yellow squash for making quiche. Canning potatoes tomorrow and some cowboy candy another day. Taking a short break to go on vacation then back at it. It is hard but very rewarding work indeed. Have a great day!

One of my daughters educated me on the use of Elderberries for my autoimmune health issues, about 4-5 years ago, since then I have tried taking it every day. She makes hers while I buy mine as the vegan version. Soon I'll make my own as well.
I recently learned about the use of garlic scapes, and my little ones love to watch them growing in my garden. We have enjoyed them in different recipes, but I didn't know we can eat them raw. As long as there's life, there are lessons to learn.
Your boys are so cute. I used to eat fresh berries last time I was able to pick some at 11 yrs old. Once I was told I could eat them, I think I ate more than I collected in my basket for pies. I don't eat the frozen ones in the store and basically only eat strawberries from the stores. Fresh from the bushes is much better. I hope to visit a farm this summer.
I love to see the canning process.💖💖
    Thank you for sharing. 👍🏽

I think the outdoor fun is the best! My grandchildren love nature walks and gardening. When kids grow up expecting to be entertained, I think they expect bigger and better venues as they get older. They don't learn to entertain themselves. When you do go on special trips, they are going to remember and treasure those memories.

A parents job is to help children become wonderful individuals that will contribute to society. In the current society of "self" and selfishness... (me me me me people), it is wonderful and so refreshing to see parents and family that are teaching children responsibility, togetherness, and learning. Way to go!!! Good job Jessica!

You are so inspiring. I would love to grow my food. We had a big garden growing up and mother canned. I remember our little house being 100 degrees when she was canning. We would weed the garden morning and mom would take us swimming in the afternoon. Something we loved doing was going swimming when dad got home after dark. That was always so fun. People can’t imagine having fun without spending hundreds of dollars. And they get their kids as obsessed with money and material things as they are. And they grow up to be completely stressed out, like their parents. Doesn’t sound fun to me.

Jessica, if you add the raw honey after the elderberry tonic has cooled down to "just warm", you will keep all the beneficial nutrients as well as the antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that diminish when heated.

I can't believe people ask if your kids ever have fun. Like you film every minute of your lives. 😅

    Hi Jessica
I just love watching your children helping you in the garden. They think they are having fun and don’t even know how much help they really are. And oh the memories you’re making!! My oldest son (he’s 44) just told me one of his favorite memories is when he was little helping me and my grandma snap beans on the back porch. We got a huge job finished in no time and heard many stories from my grandparents and the boys learned how to preserve beans. What great times!
    Keep up the good work!
    Love your videos🙏😊

I love the way you parent your children! Play to learn and learn to play imo is the best and most effective parenting method. Many people today don’t understand the true value of that for the whole family. I am really interested in trying garlic scapes.

It’s obvious from looking at the faces of your young boys that they are thoroughly enjoying their time in the garden with you. This may look like work to some, but to them it is better than play. Your investment of time with them is so valuable…and they are making memories that they will have forever, plus they are learning useful things as well.

Just look at those children’s smiling faces and it tells what a good and loving mother you are. Plus, you are teaching them wonderful life lessons. Just “shake the dust off your feet” and move forward when you hear those comments. ❤️❤️❤️

What perfect timing for this video. We have lived in our suburban house for 15 years and never knew that we had a mulberry tree on our side yard. This is the first year it actually grew mulberries. I don’t quite understand why. Maybe it needs to be cross pollinated and until this year there weren’t any other trees. A nice neighbor must have been kind enough to plant one?

So great thanks Jessica! If you ever find you have the time - An ebook of all your baked goods/canning/home remedy recipes would be amazing to purchase. A collection of all your wisdom - as I’m often scrolling through old videos trying to find random helpful hints or recipes you have shared 👏❤️.

We have nothing even close to a property your size, we have a small garden in a housing estate but my almost 3 year old daughter loves helping me to garden chores and we grow strawberries and she is so excited checking for ripe ones every day. Kids enjoy doing whatever you're doing. Spending time together is what they want more than anything

I planted garlic for the first time last fall and had totally forgotten about the scapes until I saw them and was so excited! It really takes some time to get them all chopped up! But I am glad to see this video because I left some for me to pickle them and see how well we like them ❤

My first canning project of the year was mulberry juice, I made a tart as well. We live mulberries and I have never thought of making ice cream. My son has a dairy allergy as well. Now I have gooseberries and garlic scapes to take care of. The blackberries are not to far behind. We are on a new to us homestead and are enjoying the fruits of the land.
