I purchased this monitor back in March of this year. Look absolutely amazing! There is some light bleed in two of the corners but it's hardly noticeable. I would like another one but not if Dell is going to release a newer version to replace it.

How would you compare the HP Envy 34 ultrawide versus the Dell u3417w? (With regards to quality of display picture).
I use my computer for work - reading documents, surging the web, etc. Are either of these displays’ pictures superior to the other, or are they relatively equal?
I recently purchased the HP Envy 34 and the brightness of the screen appeared to be lacking and colors don’t really pop. I used to have a 4k monitor so Im wondering if this is simply the standard quality one can expect from a 1440 ultrawide or whether HP is just inferior in this regard.
Is it worth returning the HP to get the Dell, or will it not be much of a difference?

gaming seems quite good on this monitor. I am a bit puzzled tbh. Since this panel is 60hz, I'd except frame skips/drops. But both in your doom/witcher gameplays, it looks silky smooth.
Would you suggest this screen for gameplay?
Are the tiles resizable on this? I know the LG's are but can't find any confirmation on the Dell.
And what about SolidWorks or Pro Engineer, Sketching? It's still good to use?
im sitting with a 10ms tv monitor and 1080p but my eyes burning like hell i think that this monitor will change my gaming experince more then ever and i dont care about 5 ms just want a comfterble monitor... :)

how is the text sharpness and back-light bleeding ?
The sharpness is really good and as for the backlight bleed, it is there but not that much. I only actually saw it when I turned on the PC just after POST.
It's quite sharp given it's not 4k. Of course 4k at that size is going to be noticeably sharper, but I find this model to be quite sharp. Now for the bleeding, there is some. One thing with bleeding is that a lot of people give many screens shit about it, but the truth is that many people keep the monitors super bright for no reason, plus it's tiring. They go like "See I set it up brightness 100% and it bleeds a lot". Personally I have mine at 35% backlight which is about 120cd which is the optimal level to view proper colours. The bleed there is not noticeable and only when the screen is completely black can you notice it (which is only when the PC turns on). I turn it up to maybe 50% if there's a lot of sunlight coming in on the screen (of course there you can't even notice the bleeding because of the ambient light). After 65-70% (above about 200cd) bleeding becomes noticeable and at full (300cd) it is there. But for me those levels are too tiring anyway and I've haven't used them ever on any screen. I don't care if the screen bleeds when full bright. 300cd is like 1000 lumens. that's enough to light up a dark street for 15 meters. At brightness levels that don't make your eyes bleed, only terrible monitors will have noticeable bleeding.
What system unit is needed for such a monitor? in particular the video card? processor?
Andrey Boyko - Processor doesn’t really matter, i5 or better. For running at it’s native resolution you would probably want a dedicated video card, preferably a gtx 1050 or higher, and for gaming at it’s native resolution, at least a gtx 1080ti, 2070/ti, 2080/ti

I've used Dell monitors for years but because their customer service in so bad now I won't consider their products in the future
but they sure know how to make good looking displays
I've had the opposite. If you have their warranty service it's great. I got my S2716dg monitor replaced twice no hassle, 1-2 day shipping. Monitor's not that great but I love dell for the customer support.

Andrey Boyko They're different. The biggest one is that the U3417W has a 1900r curvature,and the U3415W has a 3800r ( less curved). The U3415W is better for productivity,because it distorts less,and for media consumption the U3417W is the better choice.
Looks like a small monitor. Thinking of picking one up for my ps4 in my room. But I don't want to have to have my face right up to it.

It's not backlight bleed, since it's also seen on the bezel of the monitor; it's reflected light from his light source and/or lamp.
The resolution seems very low for such a big screen.
