The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

i am so so glad you mentioned the narratives around Jordan pre-titles. Way too many people today will apply hindsight to those years and act like Jordan was never ever criticized whatsoever. Those narratives obviously went away when he started winning, and they don't seem to understand how that works. I would like to see a video about other forgotten negative narratives about him and other greats if there's enough material to make one.

One of the amazing things about Jordan is that there seems to be an extra layer of forgotten context around so many of his amazing moments. The switch-hands layup was the last of 13 straight field goals and after his attempts at being a team-first guy not working. The fact that Michael specifically dropped those three-pointers against Drexler to prove a point to Magic Johnson and the world.
He was able to get to 63 playoff points against the Celtics because he hit every free-throw, with no time remaining after being fouled at the three-point line, and just in his second year in the league.
In Utah, he dunks on John Stockton and then the jazz owner yells at him to “pick on somebody your own size!“ Next time down the court, he dunks on seven footer, Mel Turpin… But what you don’t know is that he also had a dunk over 7’4” “Mount (Mark) Eaton.“
When he got his career high 69 points, it was because the Cleveland paper that morning said “Ehlo, good defender of Jordan.” That also happens to be Jordan‘s career high for rebounds at 18 and statistically, the most impactful single game of any player since the ABA merger.
… I could go on lol

To add just a touch more to fully DESTROY this bullshite "SHAQ CARRIED KOBE during the 3peat narrative:
Shaq fouled out of game 4 vs. SAC... Kobe took over - as usual when Shaq had to sit. Finished that game with 48 pts and 16 rebounds.
THEN came game 1 vs. those badass Spurs: 45 pts and 10 rebounds for Kobe.
So, 2 Co secutive playoff games against 2 teams FAR better than anyone the East had to offer, and Kobe went for 93 pts and 26 rebounds. For those 2 series, Kobe went 35 pts, 9 reb, 4+ ast, 47+% fgs vs. SAC, then 33+ pts, 7 reb, 7 ast. on 51+% fgs vs. the Spurs.
Shaq was mostly very good in both series (esp. the first 2 games vs. SAC), but somewhat sporadic. They had NOBODY reliable besides those 2. The others - D. Fisher, Horace Grant, R. Fox, B. Shaw, etc. -- those guys were mostly steady on defense, so-so on offense. They NEEDED Kobe to dominate in those Western Conf. playoffs, and he WAS: numbers FAR BETTER than his career stats. When the Lakers needed more from Kobe in ANY of their playoff games during the 3peat, he always showed up.
Forgot to mention his defense: held both the guys he primarily guarded on SAC & S.A. to sub-40% fgs. Sort of like how in 2000 vs. Portland when he switched over to Damon Stoudemire, he put CLAMPS on Mighty Mouse, even though he was a quick PG. Kobe averaged over 2 blocks per game in that 7 game series.
And Antonio Daniels (Spurs SG) was another super-quick guy, more of a PG but was their best perimeter scorer... he scored some pts, but shot miserably w/KBB guarding him.
Just thought some of you could appreciate digging into a few more facts abt the 3peat Lakers and just how much Kobe was being "CARRIED BY SHAQ."

that Jordan shrug game hitting those 3s and the context around it is just too good. It’s like when Jordan played point guard for a brief time and was putting up triple doubles and very high assist numbers while basically every game he did it. He could easily do everything on the court at a high level if that’s what was required of him, no doubt he’d adapt and thrive in the modern era.

The wrong thing in this content is The ‘01 playoffs has the Lakers face the blazers in the first rd then the kings in the semis. That was when Kobe did back to back 40 and 10 games in game 4 against the kings and Game 1 against the Spurs. Overall, i love this channel so much!

    • @ignoblesavage5559
      @ignoblesavage5559 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yep. More specifically, Kobe went for 48 pts and 16 rebounds to close out the SAC series, in a game where Shaq fouled out, so the Lakers needed Kobe to go big. He did.
Game 1 vs. the Spurs: 45 pts and 10 rebounds. It put the Spurs on notice: you can give Shaq a tough time with Timmy and David Robinson, but Kobe was going to make them pay. They went on to sweep and send the Lakers into the Finals, where Shaq would dominate vs. ancient Dikembe Mutombo. Kobe throttled his game down, so people like to say he choked, or just that Shaq carried him. Neither was strictly true, but people will believe whatever fits their biases. So I like to remind folks that, against the MUCH STRONGER Kings and Spurs teams (I also think Portland was better than anyone in the East, but that's MY bias), KOBE DOMINATED, even moreso than Shaq.
That is how you get "carried" when your name is Kobe Bean.

Think about this. Magic was a 5 time champion and assist leader by his 11th or 12th season. Him and bird are two of the luckiest players drafted in nba history. Both of them got drafted to great teams. If Jordan got drafted by any of those two teams, just imagine how many rings he would have. More than both of them combined.

I AGREE, the 2007 performance by Lebron against the beast of the East Pistons at that time, was Lebron's greatest game ever, hands down.
I remember watching it and feeling just Steve Kerr said "very Jordaness" of Lebron.
I wanted him to be that kind of player his whole career, unfortunately he hasn't been that kind of player, but yet still one of the greatest of all time.

lebron v cavs is one of the most dominate and impressive moments in basketball history. it's insane what he did. unbelievable. like "if this was a movie no one would believe it could happen" level stuff. it's all made even more ridiculous given the players lebron had on the cavs. how the hell was he able to get THAT TEAM to the finals?!
