    DBW is pretty cool - in my LS truck, as soon as you engage 4WD mode the throttle pattern changes so that the ~0-50% region at the peddle makes little change at the engine. Then when you're off-roading you don't have the truck lurching back and forth as your body/foot gets tossed around! You can of course change the pattern for that and on-road use via HPTuners.

    I hacked my way through holleys software with PWM tables and DBW offsets to do this, stepping through throttle positions on an inertia dyno and using excel to interpolate the dyno data. Would have been a pleasure to do this on an actual good ECU on a load bearing dyno.

    My personal driver preference: do what I say, don't cut my power.
    Unfortunately modern car defaults: chop all the power so that nobody breaks the car under warranty.

    Does it really make any sense to use a pneumatic boost control for this strategy now rather than an electronic valve? Just like a DBW TB, absolute control in every situation is the key to maximizing every advantage and potential.

    Thanks for the video.
    I am also controlling DBW on my small turbo car to limit the instant torque curve from the small turbo. That paired with a flatter timing curve during peak torque hopefully will make my engine last a long time 👌🙏✅

    Can you make a video explaining how to tune newer bmws? I tune hondas my self and would like to diy tune a g80. All i see is off the shelf tune options. Seems bmw tuners are gatekeeping the knowledge

      If it is using a Bosch MED ECU then the WinOLS example in the Practical Reflash Tuning course will help you.
      If it is a diesel, then we also have a Bosch EDC example in the works too noting Audi/VW also use these ECUs - Taz.

      We don't have specific content using that specific tool sorry, however, everyone should start with this course regardless of the tool they plan to use noting you need to make sure it works with the vehicle you plan to learn with and gives you full access to actually tune the ECU as required - Taz.

    Yea you can manipulate the TBW to soften the response but your missing the mark for its intended purpose. Adjusting the response isn’t the intended use that’s what torque management is for .

    I'd be curious as to torque management strategies used by Brad Sherriff (th-cam.com/video/s_lup0CZ8-Q/w-d-xo.html -edited link) and the transition to traction control. Getting something well sorted with a light weight, high power car I imagine is quite the task.
