True. The US hasn't changed their EAS base sound since the 60s because it is an early automated system. It was "modernized" in the 80s but still automated. Each sound and duration is machine encoded for the type, area, and scope of emergency.

True. The US hasn't changed their EAS base sound since the 60s because it is an early automated system. It was "modernized" in the 80s but still automated. Each sound and duration is machine encoded for the type, area, and scope of emergency.

I dont like when EAS alarms go on because danger will be here (I dont think anyone likes that too) but the worst is I live in Isreal so its sounds like I'm in a horror movie 😭
Most of the time the danger isn't to bad/is for the other side of my city (like tornado warnings we get those a lot) but I always freak out about the alarm itself. I swear I can't stop shaking for 10 minutes
