finally got my hands on one of these redux RNF in iconic 5'5" x 19.25" dims and running T1's. I love the board it has a very particular feeling- always feels on top of the water but when you turn it the fins and rail grab and there is a lot of hold. You can really stuff it in steep faces! For someone who spends most my time on mids/fishes this is what I want a thruster to feel like without any of the drawbacks. Mine feels not very lively in smaller/mushier surf but I think it's had a nose buckle repair and the PU foam looks old.
It’s an unbelievable board. Definitely in the top 2 boards I’ve ridden in my lifetime. That’s what I love about The RNF Redux, you can rip into it as you would with a normal thruster. Old foam makes small wave surfing difficult, after too much yellowing, it doesn’t carry the same drive in weaker waves. Glad you’re enjoying it mate 👍
The redux is better than the 96 in my opinion. The redux has been my favourite board for 2 years. Same fin setup as you have there, 2+1. I snapped it about 2 mths ago, so I bought the 96 in same dims. The 96 fins boxes only come as a 3 fin setup, and are clustered. So it feels way different to the redux, with or without a trailer. The redux was like a loose thruster on speed, the 96 is loose but feels weird because of that trailer fin placement being closer, and I think the front fins are a little further back compared to the redux.
@@jakesboardreviews no worries mate. I was using the MR twins and trailer. Ive got Mick Fannings new FCS twins which are based off the FCS H4s and they go next level in my V3 Rocket as a 2+1. Wish I had those when I had my redux. Anyway, the 96 is the 1st board in ages that Ive had from Lost that Ive ridden a dozen times and just cant make it work. Only good session Ive had on it is a really small, 1ft but super sucky and racetrack like beach break. Something clicked that day, but havent been able to do it again since. I will sell it, and maybe get another redux. But Ive got a Webber Electra coming soon which Im totally psyched about.
Hey mate, In Australia we get some solid swells. I’ve surfed it from 4-6 ft points, back beaches, and super junky crap waves. It kind of works in everything you throw at it and I’d highly recommend it.
@@reefslug I would recommend this one for Maui as it’s more fun. It’s also extremely similar to what Cory Lopez, Andy and Chris Ward we’re riding in Hawaii in the 90’s. It goes in anything I reckon 👍

This is legendary Marcus, thanks for the information. I may use this information in one of my videos if that’s all good? Let me know 👍

Might be time for the upgrade to the RNF '96.
I think so. We’ll try get our hands on an RNF ‘96’ for a future review 👍
How do the Redux and '96 compare?
Good review Bro.Keep up the good work
Thanks mate, appreciate the support
Love the surf footage at the beginning of the vid!
Thanks Matty, appreciate it 🙏
The T1s have foam in the middle of them. That's why they work well.
One of the many reasons, super well designed fin.
Those fins look awesome
They sure are Aaron. They are the T1’s in the honeycomb construction 👍
What's the biggest you've surfed it in?

@@jakesboardreviews sick. Thanks brother. I'm on Maui and thinking about getting one for up to head and a half.
