Iv had mine for 6 years, 190,470 miles. Bought it for $25k with 70k miles. It is a fantastic car. Engine maintenance is every similar to doing a 328i or anything with a N5x engine platform. Done every extensive maintenance to it. The truth of the reality is these cars need special attention, and requires special care. If you’re on top of the engine coolant, engine oil maintenance (do mine at every 5k Miles, with liquimoly additives) and don’t go too heavy with the boost levels (currently running 18 PSI with MHD stage 2+) or modifications then you have yourself a very reliable package. I enjoy this car so much. It keeps up with the current times with its 360 camera, park distance sensors, idrive & so on. It’s the ultimate all around daily driver that you can still have fun with

Wow that’s awesome! just what I thought. If you take proper care of these cars they can last a long time. The issue is when people buy them and treat them like ordinary cars while driving them like a racecar. Then wonder why the car is having reliability issues. I’m curious about the MHD tune, has it been reliable for you? What mods did you do before tune? Also what year is your car?

@@seizethespeed yup you’re right. My F30 is 2013. I would attest that most of my reliability comes from being a certified technician for MB & BMW dealership (worked at BMW for 4 years) so I always check on my car in every chance I get. With that being said, for the last 3-4 years I kept it relatively stock. Only then recently I started installing full bolt ons (dinan CF intake, metal charge pipe, boost pipe, active autowerks intercooler, S55 spec spark plugs, all new ignition coils and injectors, replaced a few cooling hoses & radiator, transmission flush with motul oil, oil catch can, all common gaskets that always leaks oil, along side replaced the valve cover due to PCV failing, etc) to make the engine more reliable before I tuned it. I should also add that adding liqui moly oil additives help with the wear protection very very effectively. That’s also the key… make sure the engine is reliable & healthy enough to withstand a tune with higher boost pressures (DONT SKIMP ON THIS!) over all i highly recommend the MHD tune. They have safety measures that helps the engine keep in bay in case a malfunction happens. Plus their application provides a lot of adjustability that other softwares can’t measure.

Nice video. I own an f30 335i Sport also 2012 with very similar milage at 86k. Bought it slightly under 60k and have been driving it for 2 and half years solid. The maintenance I had was bit more though, the charge pipe which is common to go brittle happened to me and was replaced. Vacuum line replaced. Water pump and thermostat at 60k miles just for safety (they tend to go bad between 60-80k miles), valve cover gasket. Two hard maintenances: 1 - I was changing the oil and unfortunately the car jack slipped and hit the steering rack (it is positioned right in front of the jack support beam - I replaced it myself with an used part and it has been good for 30k miles now). 2 - previous owner followed the 20k oil change from BMW and the Valvetronic shaft and motor went bad, replaced it myself with a kit and its all good). Honestly for what the car offers and its price its a decent reliable deal on a german car. Mine has the 8 inch screen (which I added the apple car play wirelessly), heated seats with 10 adjustments and 2 memory positions, HUD, early version of a 3d parking sensor, lane assist, dynamic headlights and some other goodies. The car has more optional than most modern vehicles at a 1/4 of the price. Keep it well maintained with the basics and will last towards 250k miles (which I have personally seen twice)

Yeah I’m thinking about doing the charge pipe if I keep it, also maybe the water pump as preventative maintenance. Your car seems like a nice spec, I’m glad to hear it’s going strong. For the money these cars are a bargain for the performance. Also being a BMW they’re pretty reliable compared to the counterparts as long as you do the maintenance!

2015 335i xDrive here. It’s a fun rewarding car to work on but it does make you sweat if you don’t take your time with those plastic brittle bits smh. I’m VRSF catless, intercooler, chargepipe, injen intake, Afe air scoop, turbosmart bov, MHD stage 2, xHP stage 3. Def recommend adding a strut brace. Looking forward to a custom tune after changing out more bits to accommodate the power. Keeping it 93 octane no corn fuel for me.

looking to upgrade intercooler, charge pipe, catted downpipe (dont wanna smelll shit)...this mainly for reliability. Also chainging oil pump and pan to S55 engine (direct swap) to avoid the 'oil-starvation issues'. I like to hit switch-back roads that can really screw your engine up.

Just bought 2012 with 106K for 15k....Red sportline with M adaptive suspension and every option available. Put 2k on it so far and absolutely love it. I have a E46 328i with 252k on the Odo, buttery smooth. However the 335i is an absolute 'Bat-outta-hell', when you punch it. The stock 300 hp is enough...anything more and your just looking to get in more trouble.
Do your research though, I did mine...there are some years to avoid...I forgot those, but the 2012, 2015 I know are ok.
