As a software engineering student, I spend a lot of time reading and watching reviews that will assist me in finding the ideal laptop for both myself and my studies. The minute I finished watching your review with this particular laptop, I knew that it was the one I wanted to upgrade to.
just got mine in from costco the other day and its been great so far
I'm in a similar situation, thinking about this vs a M2 Macbook air. I mostly do web dev for my personal projects so RAM isn't an issue but single threaded perf and battery life is important

@@mariovaldivia4649 There is the old 15x that they are trying to get rit of at the moment. Later this year, in october they are releasing a faster 15x with an RTX 3060, Ryzen 6000 and 2.8K, 120hz oled screen.

I love an OLED screen in a laptop. That Blue Samsung with OLED was phenomenal and I’ve been waiting to see it again. I can’t complain about my Dell Insperion screen though.

Honestly as someone who’s a fan of Dell XPS I think the Asus Vivobook looks very premium. Apple is known for the aesthetics of their products so I’m glad to see other companies are taking notes and doing something similar.
Currently a first year engineering student. Could definitely use it for CAD designing, coding, etc
Does anyone happen to know if this machine can be upgraded to 24gb of ram (8gb onboard + 16gb stick) or is 16gb the max the motherboard can handle?

Yes you can remove the 4gb ram and put 8/16/32 gb
Great review! What a nice OLED laptop. Kudos to ASUS with this one. I'm a second year design student right now using an old laptop that I had since my second year of junior high. An upgrade could really be a huge help. Appreciate the chance.

Bought one of these three weeks ago, and while watching you tube vids every night for several hours, I am having dropout problems with my blue tooth headphones. I know it is the laptop, as my other HP laptop that I use during the day, does not have any such problems. Apart from that, this is a fantastic computer. Unfortunately, if you need to use it on battery only, this is not for you as 2 hours is around all you will get on a full charge.
I bought this laptop a few weeks ago I think it’s awesome. I do prefer the 16:10 layout for a laptop now. The OLED is awesome. I’ve had several laptops with good specs but not great screens. I would trade a little less performance for this good of a screen. It’s just so fun and makes you want to use the laptop. Removed some bloatware and adjusted some Throttlestop limits (took more time reading how to do it than the actual settings) That helped so much with the heat on my lap and went from low 11k to mid 13k Cinebench score alone. Much more manageable temps, and can pull 45 watts all day long when plugged in. Awesome. Still working on efficiency and other things I can do about the heat, I may repaste and look into adding heat pipes too. It’s powerful for sure.
How long does it's battery last?
@@minionk5931 not too sure the processor definitely can drain the battery quick if you stressed it. I’ve never used it long enough without charging to fully know. Though since it’s so powerful even small tasks only draw a few watts for a split second
What are your throttlestop settings for this?
@@itsmejustin1 I think pl1 is 45 and pl2 is like 60. Time is 28.

Just started CS undergrad jounery and had to buy a laptop.
Got this one (Ryzen 7 6800H,16gb ram,1 tb ssd, integrated gpu) only on 1000 CAD from amazon.
Received it yesterday.Still exploring.Don't know yet if this is a great buy for CS student.
I like the display.But the fan just starts from nowhere while working on simple microsoft apps.That is really annoying.

I hate that it only has an USB 2.0 on one side and nothing else. Why didn't they made it Thunderbolt or at least a sd/microSD card slot...

ASUS and Lenovo putting out some great laptops lately
i own this laptop and its everything he says. its super dope and if yoou aren't too geeked out about the specs (intel vs. ryzen), itll do you good. The battery life is not 8 or 9 hours though, thats practically impossible with this OLED panel and the 14 core processor. Its a beast of a laptop in a small package, you will be compromising battery life, I would say on average I get 5 or 6 hours in a FULL charge. Still worth though, highly recommend.
Thanks for the opinion, in my case, I'll go with an utrabook with the i7-1260p or 1280p, because of the efficiency
Hey there, how is this laptop performing after 2-4 months?
Funny enough, returned the laptop. Its honestly not good. Too powerful so it eats into battery. Its small and portable but that doesn't mean anything if it has to be constantly plugged into a wall. Bought a cheaper laptop with it 12th gen with twice the battery life but worse screen. Worth it imo

It could probably run some aaa titles at medium settings, although the performance might drop from temps.

Hi Justin. I am in Canada , looking to buy a Vivobook, I discovered there are many variants - the X and S 14 in , 15in and 16in.. the names are getting more and more confusing as I was researching. Your title has both the S and the X, it’s confusing) . Is this one the S 14 OLED (K3402) , or is it the 14 X OLED (X1403) ? ( don’t see an Asus vivobook with both the X and S in the name. Thank you

What is difference Asus between K series vs S series
Costco has a downgraded model 12GB RAM/ 512GB SSD for $799. Might have to get one to replace my failing MacBook.
That's the best model. The 1tb ssd/ 16gb of ram is upgradable. So you can replace the 4gb stick with an 8gb one for like 30$, and upgrade the ssd as well to 1tb.

Tbh, 30s into the video I subbed immediately...cuz i'm always on the look for good/professional tech reviewer, especially laptop reviewers...cuz I'm always in need of more reviews and opinions.
For me the laptop is great in all aspects...except for one, my only preferably aspect would be having an AMD Ryzen 6000 APU over Intel (especially with that RDNA iGPU), cuz battery is very important to me; electricity availability is harsh around here for my line of work,...and AMD is considerably better than Intel on that front...but still better than my 8yrs old laptop Intel 4th Gen anyway.

I myself own a vivobook pro 14 but compared to that, this one looks more professional and idk why 😅 (maybe the colour BLACK but mine is a BLUE lol).

9:00 it actually lags pretty nastily here (while you moved the lower end of the curve, changed color temp, etc.)

I pretty much like this laptop design but unfortunately its ram is DDR4 and its ssd read speed is 3000Mb/s which is slower than competitors. I wish Asus update the spec soon.
DDR4 Ram is not necessarily slower than DDR5 it depends on the speed used and other things. And when are you going to use more than 3000MB/s in real life tasks? In my personal experience very rarely.

The S 14X Is a creators dream, it is very flexible for anyone to use as a main computer.

I'm looking to replace my old and bulky laptop and this would be a great fit! I'm travelling a lot so the light and slim design would help greatly with that. The oled screen would also be great for long coding sessions, it'd help greatly with eye strain.
