Matthew "Matt" Kelly on harmonica -- childhood friend of Weir and bandmate in Kingfish. Great stuff -- destined to become (like Bobby's matching slide riffs) iconic in Dead lore.
I think Bobby still has a great voice, it's just been such a long ride, you can't expect him to sound the same way he did over 30 years ago. It's a miracle that Bob and Phil are still continuing the magic.
in case you hadn't noticed, death don't have no mercy... it's never gonna be the same... but there are still some guys, who had this band you see,& they are still the best thing going, even without their figure head... in the words of JP Barlow: "if this ain't the real thing, it's close enough to pretend..." go see Furthur...
Yeah it's a shame he had to go and, you know, screw everything up by STAYING ALIVE LONG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO CONTINUE TO THANK HIM FOR ALL THE JOY HE BROUGHT TO YOUR LIFE :)
This is exactly what I focus on whenever I hear any of this music any more. What's not there. It's very important to focus on the empty half of the glass. Don't ever let them tell you the half full part is any good.

Thanks. I was wondering who the harp player was.

The Mickey Hart Band is sounding good these days too, Dave Schools carries the magic.

I miss this version of Bobby. The old guy speaking lyrics with Furthur is just sad.

Who is playing the Harmonica? (I was there but don't recall this detail- if I even knew it)
This so easily could have been a Pig tune had he lived on.
