Yes! I saw them live 24 times from 1975-1979 and was a radio DJ for 20 years and played them ALL THE TIME on the air and got in trouble with management. Screw management, I played The Dead! They were the greatest LIVE BAND of all time with nobody else being even remotely close. They kept their prices low, never went commercial and LOVED their fans, and we loved them back. Here I go again waxing poetically about The Grateful Dead! Dude, I'll love them all my days. Many people will!
This is the greatest live rock band of them all. I saw them approximately 24 times in this very time frame. This is EXACTLY as I remember them. Donna Godchaux was awesome. I don't care if she was occasionally off-key. She was classy, smart, kind and gorgeous and I love her to this day. When they were ON, they were the best band you ever saw ... MAGICAL! Jerry, we REALLY miss you! Peace ... FoJ
thats what they did 6months out of every year they played to sold out arenas for 4 decades.no other band could come close to that great feat.they were the greatest rocknroll-country-RnB.and alittle jazz thrown in.no other band will ever take that much time to tour.they loved,i mean love to play live.
100% You are right on that, friend. If you think about it, Dead music in a arena setting wouldn't work without that right on drum work by Bill... or Bill and Mickey.
Bob is Amazing still, he has aged gracefully, I mean after all he played and partied with "The Dead" Check out 7 Walkers if you wanna here some Bill K play today!! Rockin band.
@FanOfJanis how was that? out of the 24 times which show stood out to you? Its incredible that you saw them at what I like to consider the "Golden Age" Mid-Late 70's some early 80's. Thanks for the post peace
I love Bobby's vocal skills. He had a voice like no other. It's a shame that he really kinda lost it now, with his ugly beard (Sorry bobby but it's true) and he really dosnt have the voice anymore. When you look at him then, and look at him now, it's two complety different people.
been a dead head more than 40 years, this is one of the best versions of this song, miss you guys
I was there the day before . Winterland was a trip . And if you were tripping ,wow
I was blessed having so much fun in the late 70's at dead shows on long Island new york 🎉❤

always love the little riffs Jerry throws in at the breaks in this tune
This really makes me realize (again) what a great drummer Bill K. is.
Phil played the same note for a solid 2 minutes. Classic phil.
That's how you know he's a good bass player lol
Do you know how good this is...
SERIOUSLY GOOD
At 6:00 Phil sounds like he's hitting an inch thick steel cable with a sledgehammer.
WOW , LOOK AT JERRY WAILING !!! SWINGING LIKE CRAZY BAD ASS !!!! EXCELLENT VERSION
I miss Jerry more than words can tell.
Nice one. 5:08 is one of the most beautiful moments. Feels so good 🎉Really captures the essence for a moment
such a beautiful song, simple but powerful lyrics
Bill is such an underrated drummer.
Billy K. is the Man!
So are the majority of the "jam band" rhythm sections.
Jerry's flatpickin - gimme a break :O
this is incredible!
Is Phil playing the same tune🤔 love that guy for real.
Sweet and tender. Beautiful piece of mine.
this was classic Dead 1978 , Donna actuully sounds great .. and they bust out Franklins Tower , the music never stoped . And we are all trippin balls

The Man Scored Weed from Neil Cassidy.
WTF else need be said.
I understand there's a 45min/45sec version out there! The Dead Ring Cycle?
I like when the bomb goes off

what happened at 2:28?
Seriously what happened?
A color film of New Years 78! More googling I guess.
At 2:29 someone in the audience met Jesus for the first time.
oh yeah. :)
but why does bill always look so miserable when he's playing?
He’s concentrating

40-50 years has an effect
Agreed! Shave Bobby! Shave!
