Speed duel always provides the best products in my opinion. I remember at the time that it was the best way to get legacy cards easily
yall don't understand how hyped i am that they finally printed Fiend kraken in the TCG, i love him so much, the fact that hes been on art work here and there over the past few years gave me hope that he might be in a speed duel or ots pack one day, im so excited for this set just bacause of him, gokibore, golgoil and maybe a secret red eyes.

@@ShyGuyPal102 YESSSS, gosh I loved the older mako cards and were my favorite as a kid, like great white is my favorite card ever and I got It cuz my cousin gifted me back when I was little, I'm very excited for mako and weevil decks

What an awesome set of cards. I wish speed duel wasn’t so looked down upon. I feel like if they got rid of the speed duel on the card and just left the hidden stamp the cards would be more sought after.

I myself opened the speed duel gx duelists of the shadows just three days ago, i use speed duels to teach the kids of my cousins yugioh, and I really like the secret rares in these boxes, the quality is top notch!

I agree, but I hope they wait as long as possible before even getting close to 5D’s. Even though 5D’s is my fave series, the reason I love speed duels is because it captures the “old Yugioh” charm of DM and GX. Plus they still have plenty to do in DM: more of Duelist Kingdom, Waking the Dragons 1 and 2 (1 with Raphael, Valon, etc; 2 with Dartz, Yugi, Kaiba, etc), the Virtual World, the Grand Prix (I know I’m reaching with that one), and Dark Side of Dimensions. Im sure they still have some stuff left in GX they could cover.
@@fishinwizard6 I’m very trilogy-minded mostly based on when specifically I had left and subsequently returned to enjoying the game. I feel like a lot of us were there to ring in the first brand new summoning mechanic, and we’re well met with the Signers. There’s always sorta been a halfway juncture on viewing 5Ds as a neo or retro era. It’s the last one to connect to the main timeline before they decided that they wanted alternate timelines. Bonds Beyond Time is a testament to how well suited 5Ds is to “early Yugioh” where even the next one Zexal suits itself as a new beginning. Take all the time you need guys, but the retro Yusei and co family decides this is here the best last ride of the old days.
@@runningoncylinders3829 oh I completely agree, funny enough after 5D’s was when I first jumped off too! while I agree that it’s caught in between being “retro” and “new”, I’d consider it retro personally because not only is it almost 15 years old, but like you said it was the first to really introduce a new summoning mechanic, and it was tied back to the original DM series. 5D’s is my favorite, and I’m happy with all the support we’ve gotten for the Synchron and other archetypes over the years, but the reason I want them to wait to get to 5D’s is that I honestly don’t see where they could go after. Granted, they could just keep releasing decks for all the different 5D’s characters (there are tons of great ones in the show!) but I don’t see where they could go once that’s over. I might be overreacting, but I genuinely believe that if they ever get to Zexal, Speed Duels will run into the same problem as modern YGO

Yeah, they should have done a "Rare Hunter Pack" with Bandit Keith, Seeker, Arkana, Strings, Lumis&Umbra, Odion, Marik, and Joey.
@@Gzilla313 I'm hoping they'll do a set for the Battle City finals. Bakura, Odion, Mai, and Ishizu, and of course Joey, Yugi, Marik, and Kaiba. Give us some reprints of Gravekeeper cards, some new BEWD support, Harpies support, etc. Add the key Skull Servant support cards for the extras. Then maybe do a half set of either Virtual World (Exodia Necross?) or the Orichalcos series.
So much potential still.

No Exodia for Seeker!?
Yeah. Exodia is terrifying in a 20 card deck on a slow format (and before you say "oh what about the duel links skill?" Well, that skill adds the pieces to the deck and costs you the skill slot so you're playing a 25 card exodia deck without the skill, which makes it a lot more balanced. Not even to mention how Duel Links is much faster than Speed Duel)

Surprised that they didn't reprint Jizno the Machine Menace as that decks boss, but I am very happy the Red-Eyes Baby Dragon and Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight got reprints. Just waiting on an Insight Reprint now, although I bought OCG copies.

Speed duel secret rares looks better than regular secret rares I can't pinpoint why it just looks shinier and the holo more vibrant

Maiden of Macabre is the reprint I was waiting for so long so I could have it in my language. It's a card so random and obscure I basically lost hope to ever see it again. Color me surprised

I'm jumping back in after playing back in the early days, and Speed Duel is definitely more my style. Not so worried about card value. I was a Kaiba deck guy back in the day with Blue Eyes, Lord of D, Flute...is there a chance they'd do a Kaiba deck along these lines? I know there is a Kaiba/Joey/Mai deck from a few years ago but its pricier and it doesn't look like the words "speed duel" is printed under the card image like it is in this set. Based on trends, is it likely they'd revisit older Speed Duel sets and reprint?
I'm only just getting back into the game after ages. It's kinda frustrating that they're not packed into the "themed" duelists in the box. Trying to put them together so my wife and I can split decks and can't find the official list anywhere. (I know there's infinite possibilities, but was really hoping to have them in order properly.)
One think I always hate about the tcg vs the tv show was that in all the times I saw Joey play flame swordsman in a duel he never fusion summoned it yet in the tcg it has to be fusion summoned. IMO they should remake flame swordsman and make it a normal, non fusion monster

Slightly disappointing compared to my expectations but still nice overall, especially considering how quickly the prices tend to drop for speed duel sets post release which really does make them a steal for grabbing some old school cards. The weevil stuff seemed to replicate the starter deck and I’m not a fan of the espa roba rage of ra reprints. I do like the strings deck. I wanted more like that

They seem to not want to do that. Synchro summoning was basicaly how modern yu-gi-oh started (as in:the focus began to be on the extra deck) so they might actually want to avoid it as to make sure Speed Duel stays at being old school only because with Synchros out, there'd be no real excuse to not bring XYZ, which means there'd be less excuses to not bring Pendulum and Link. And suddenly Speed Duel is just a watered-down regular Yu-Gi-Oh instead of being its own thing. So that's why I think they went back to DM instead of moving on to 5Ds with this new product.

There was no point in doing this tbh. Instead they SHOULD have put this much effort into the duelist pack battle city that they released years ago. Ironically enough there was a lot of toon cards in that set and the toons were from duelist kingdom lol. The set lacked battle city cards.
Yeah i know it prolly won’t happen (although I am happy we’ve been getting lots of reprints in this set) I hope they reprint the Battle City Box/structure decks from back then. I want them to do Duelist Kingdom too, it’s wild to me that it’s locked behind packs that no one bought!

Yeah, the first battle city box sold extremely well compared to the sets and the packs only had like 4 cards in them with no rare guaranteed. Which sold kinda poorly. Konami actually listened to the player base
@@drewtoya8015 I gotcha! I actually really enjoyed the fact that nothing was guaranteed in the packs personally but can understand the feedback. I think that from a value perspective, having rarities that aren’t guaranteed for every pack can be a nice old school change of pace

Yeah, the only variables in the boxes are the secret promos, but you get all the set cards anyway as commons, the promos are only there as a rarity upgrade

Yes, speed duel cards are legal in regular formats, but regular cards are not allowed in speed duel.

Yes, that's why it's worth buying speed duel boxes, they're not expensive and as you can see you can get random cards for multiple support decks (red eyes, dark magician, insects, aqua, you name it)

No Exodia? that's a buzzkill. That's not even seekers deck without it. The rest look great.
Did Speed Duel have Salamandra? Because if it doesn't I don't understand why didn't Joey get it here? He's been using that card along with Flame Swordsman from season 1. I don't see any other reason to spend my turn normal summoning a Flame Swordsman beside that I love the card because of the anime. It's literally just a 1800 attack beatstick and we have better ways to play such in Speed Duel...like just having the high attack 4 star cards in your deck nad use a skill that does something better.
Honestly a big let down. I really though we were getting a playable Flame Swordsman but nope...don't think he'll see any play. I just hope I get his secret rare card and I guess I'll be happy. But would've been happier if he got support making him worth a while. Even as a rogue deck.

@@maxpowerhomer like rush duel aint going to do any better. Casual/anime players like to collect it. Yes konami shot themself in the foot marketing the product. Speed duel has its own meta which no one knows about because people dont want to touch it with a 10 ft pole. Provides time wizard reprints: secret allure, secret super poly, secret d d crow. Provides euro print cards to the us. Better card quality. The little things thats keeping this sinking ship afloat.
