Do you have questions about setting up your brooder? In this video I show you my method and give some tips for managing water, feed, and heat. Also a money saving DIY brooder. Easy!!
Apple Cider Vinegar helps boost feather condition and helps to aid in riding the birds of worms and other parasites. It helps kill Coccidiosis protozoa and also reduces odour and improves laying. Great tip! I looked it up cause I was curious and that's what it said.
If you will look at my "Wynola Cage Review " video it will show what I use. I use a drink cup that requires them to peck the activator and is gravity fed through tubing connected to 3 gallon water containers. I can show you more specifics if needed. Thanks!
Where did you obtain the quail watering jars? I used to use pine shavings but now use dog training absorbent mats I my brooders. Easy to roll up and discard and easy on their feet. Don’t know if it’s cheaper than shavings but certainly less of a mess.
Hi friend! Fellow East Texan (now transplanted to NC Arkansas) here. I have my first flock of jumbos that I am about to try and incubate and hatch for the first time. On your hardware cloth lis you made, how tall is that cone?
Im totally new to quail. Can adult quail tolerate cold temps like some chicken breeds? Do you recommend beginners start with adults, chicks or hatching eggs?
Quail love dust baths. My quail do not have 24/7 availability but I put them in large containers of playground sand mixed with a small amount of food grade diatomaceous earth when I clean their cages

10” and welcome to raising quail!

Adult quail can tolerate temps. I’d recommend starting with hatching eggs

My thermometer just broke. What is a good height should the heat lamp be at with day old chicks? It’s a red bulb
There are different wattages but approximately 18 inches should work and move it up as they feather out
Do these quail have the need for a dust bath?

How many day after hatch do you move chicks to brooder
I give my chicks a minimum of 24hr in incubator after hatch but normally I move them on day three
I put chicken grit in my waterer
Great idea as well!
How hot is to hot in the brooder for day old quail?
Never go over 100
What happens is they sit in that heat and dehydrate
I start at 99 and move down a degree everyday for first five days
Okay, thanks for the information.
