You've dealt with 97 and 103 degrees I've checked on you all on and off over the last 2 months that's the typical temperature you've been dealing with up north I know the general history of you both Barbara and Johnny thAnk you both she's been through a lot and I'm thankful she found a stable place in her life
There’s no controversy. lol. It’s welcome. There may be some people who think it’s THEIR creek, and don’t want to share with others, but there’s no controversy.
I need to get with you guys about a location I used to visit. It was a layer of sharks teeth about five inches thick in the side of a creek bank. Since that was the source, there were many found very easily.
I've been a lifelong rockhound, and at almost 77 years old, I'm coming down in a couple of weeks to hunt the Sulphur River. I've been to Post Oak but never have more than a couple of hours to hunt. Any suggestions you could give me would be great.
The FM 2990 (new, temporary fossil park) is the current go-to point of entry. If we get some sizeable rain in the upcoming weeks, it should help! If not, try FM 2675 in Pecan Gap!
Weighing in from the expert comment perspective, that last tooth is…something! Haha when my nephew was young, my parents would quiz him down about animal identification, and he would say, “It’s something.” Still cracks me up!
There are lots of other places to access the creek so the park will just make it easier for families and maybe handicapped people. There is certainly nothing wrong with promoting science of any kind and this is a way to participate which anyone can enjoy. I have heard estimates of between 20 and 30 thousand teeth found there already and they're still coming. There's not reason to assume they will all be found any time soon.
They are sharks teeth from the Cretaceous Period, when Texas was under the Western Interior Seaway. So the teeth are indeed fossils from extinct species of sharks.
Went up there a couple months back ,yes we found shark teeth and other things BUT ! It is a dump ! Full of trash and more broken glass than I've ever seen anywhere . I wouldn't let kids run up and own it at all ,got. To be a better place .
I think a fossil park would be very beneficial to the fossil hunters and nearby family's where here in oklahoma you can pick up as many fossils as you want but picking up Arrowheads are illegal but alot of people still pick them up
We live in East Texas around Caddo lake. Tons of artifacts from Hot Springs down to Wright Patman Lake area south of Texarkana. Been picking up Celtic axe heads, bird points, spear heads, etc for decades in the region. There's even burial sites we don't disturb. Old buddies that taught me years ago found skulls and everything. No one messes with those however. The artifacts however are nothing special enough to leave in the dirt where no one will ever see them or find them again.
Waterloo lake was destroyed by "a park" construction and development destroys the very thing that makes it what it is. What construction company can afford to sift dirt to make sure nothing is lost. Small fossils can lead to major finds. But maybe we need another concrete walking trail parking lots and street lights. No thanks
They shouldn't. I agree with haul it in haul it out, but I'm sure since the city is creating a fossil Park, more than likely trashcans will automatically be placed in the park area.
We found over 1,000 shark 🦈 teeth in 3hrs in this video!! 👀👉 th-cam.com/video/OihOFtnATA0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_49D2rKJhWkaFjUT

The heat just takes it out of us, so we don't get out as frequently to hunt. It's exhausting in the summer months for sure!
I went to school in Bonham. Didn't know we had fossils around Sherman/Denison much less shark toofs.
Cretaceous aged Sharks teeth to boot
@@TheAdventurousCouple too much "work" for people these days 😅
I’m in Florida, looking for shark teeth too, lol.
At least you guys have a winter!
That is true! My husband moved here from Stuart FL so he knows all too well about the lack of winter there!
At 6:04 there is a large dart point at the 4 o'clock position just off center. It is beige in color.
Alas, it is the elusive leaf pretending to be a point 😥 good eye!!!
Another great video 🫶 I think it's cool they're making a park there and not cutting it off from the world 🫶 fellow Florida hunter 😎

Well it's coming no matter the opinions, so hopefully the City is working with visitors to make it a useful project.
100%

That would be amazing!! You can shoot us a message at NSRFossilhunter@gmail.com
Very cool!! Park might be an interesting idea.
Sounds great! Bathrooms and maybe camping or R Vs.
Right?!?
I've got the fossil hunting fever real bad right now hahaha.
Me too! Fossil hunting season, weather is getting better and better!!!!
@@TheAdventurousCouple can’t wait to see more from yall!

Led Zeppelin shirt is awesome
Thank you!
“Getting down to the creek is pretty treacherous “ LOL. There are toddlers that go there almost every single time I go. It’s walking in the dirt 😅
It is a bit treacherous for me, I had spinal surgery and the older I get the worse I am on my feet 😆
@@TheAdventurousCouple fair enough! When it’s wet it’s certainly more than a hand full to shimmy down

What do you use to keep mosquitoes away? I’m allergic. Would love to get out there! Thanks?
Honestly I haven't noticed that I get bit by mosquitos while here
Great video, guys! Always love seeing what you come up with.
Thank you!!!!!

Pretty amazing you find shark teeth given it’s supposed to have been millions of years since Texas was covered by the ocean.
They are sharks teeth from the Cretaceous Period, when Texas was under the Western Interior Seaway. So the teeth are indeed fossils from extinct species of sharks.
This is the coolest spot ever! I need to go there asap!
It's pretty awesome!
Bathrooms!
Yes!!!
Because of my grandma who always spoke to herself in the the kitchen i do all the time. I even answer myself. I'm my own best friend these days
I talk to myself a lot!
No one swarms anything to dig in the dirt unless its gold laying on the ground or diamonds up in Murphreesboro.
100%

That is quite a shame. I wish people would be more mindful of their trash and pack out what they bring in. I can understand that frustration for sure

Yeah no one cares about it being "Illegal" when the illegal felonious thieving government says so...

Trash cans? I have mixed emotions. If you hauled it in. YOU haul it out. Why should the city be responsible for your trash?
They shouldn't. I agree with haul it in haul it out, but I'm sure since the city is creating a fossil Park, more than likely trashcans will automatically be placed in the park area.
