I’ve been planning this build for a while and I’m so happy to finally share the result with all of you! I hope enjoyed it and let me know what you would like to see next time!
It looks really good brother man! I have 7 fire bellied toads my self. They are wonderful frogs. I just sold 60 babies to my childhood mom and pops pet store! I never intended to breed them but they mated all summer long!
Great build! You should be wearing safety glasses using the wire brush attachments. I use those at work and often have pieces of the wire stuck in my coveralls.
@@albertsrour8687 this is one of those projects where I noticed that my skills are developing. I’m not sure if my creativity is limitless (although I love the way that sounds haha) I do feel like I keep progressing and plan on continuously improving my husbandry and enclosure design.
Yes! I do plan on adding isopods, but my colony isn’t that big as of now and I’ll be getting some more next week. But as the frogs like to eat anything that moves I’m not sure how long they will last in there.
I love what you did and would love to see an update in 6 months. Most builds I watch like this wait a few weeks or months before adding any animals. I would be curious what problems, if any, you encounter.
There are a couple of reasons why you generally want to let a tank mature before adding animals. Allowing the plants to grow in a bit will make it less likely they get trampled by the animals. These frogs aren’t that big so I don’t worry too much about that. Also in general you should wait at least two weeks before adding fish/shrimp to the water. This will allow bacteria to grow that will break down the waste of the animals, otherwise they might get poisoned by their own waste. I my case I let the filtermedia sit in an established aquarium for a month prior to building this tank, so all the necessary bacteria are already present from day one. Still it’s best practice to wait a bit. I’ll definitely make an update video in a couple months to show how the tank has been developing.
I love SerpaDesign videos and I’ve been lookin for other TH-camrs with similar editing styles and then I found you on my feed tonight. I’m subscribing right now ! Great video :)
Tanner is a big inspiration for me! Obviously my content is inspired by his, but I make it a big point to give it my own flavor. Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! :)
I'd be very interested to learn where you managed to procure your egg-crate light diffuser. I spent over a month trying to source the stuff for a decent price, but the cost for one piece was honestly outrageous and I ended up just stacking my hard-scape out of rock and gravel (and glue).
Is it bad that I'm jealous of the frogs?? I wish I could have a little habitat like that to myself LOL~ It looks amazing! A beautiful little paradise! I have a dumb but genuine question though: do you ever have to worry about mold on the cork or the foam pads?
Hahaha if you can find a shrink ray you are welcome to live in there! I hope you like to eat crickets. As for the mold: that’s why I added springtails. They will take care of any mold and frog waste in the tank.
Great work! I just notice (i could be totally wrong) but did you sand the glass? Cut glass is REALLY SHARP you can get cut or the animales inside de tank, is better to sand it with a wet sandpaper
Sorry if you answered this somewhere already, but did you not need to seal any of the foam parts? I’ve seen a lot online about people insisting on using drylok over the parts they build with expanding and blocks of foam, but now I’m wondering if it’s actually necessary?
@@ntayjohnson as far as I understand the drylok is purely an aesthetic choice. XPS foam and (some) sprayfoams are completely fine to use in your aquarium. When buying the spray foam go for something that’s marketed as being pond safe or aquarium safe and you’ll be fine.

Yeah you’re definitely right. I think a respirator (or at least a face mask) also wouldn’t be an unnecessary luxury 😅
I had fire bellies in my 20’s built them a 1/2 wet/dry enclosure, nowhere near as advanced lol, loved them so much
