Thanks Pete for this great review!! I forgot to get the oil while it was draining so I got it from the filter after but I couldn’t get enough to come out to fill test tube for a fp test lol. Funny to see so much oil still in it. Was happy to see the robust construction on this filter considering it was very cheap on rock auto. For those interested, this is the first time using amsoil high mileage. I have used amsoil signature, penzoil ultra premium l, castrol synthetic, and mobile 1 synthetic in this car. Mostly puralator boss filters. I know these 2.4l theta engines have bearing wear issues so I try to keep a close eye on but I do switch my products around. Hope to send another filter and report in the future! I will try and find out what the oils were from the other two tests on this

The filter did a good job ! No excess glue or defects ! Surprised how much media there was ! Too bad about the FP data but if there was any fuel dilution you would smell it ! 👍🎃
What happened to you is exactly why I don`t like anti- drain back valves in my oil filters! My oil filters on my trucks are mounted upside down anyway & so naturally don`t drain away. That looked like a good filter. I would still not go over 5,000 miles changing the oil though.
👍Thank you Pete. I may have to do a oil analysis too. My daughter just traded in her dodge charger for a 2024 Prius. It only has about 1000 miles and I will try to send the oil filter on her 1st oil change.
Yeah, this 51334 made in S Korea. Looks much like the Hyun/Kia OEM, that were/(are?) made by Mann at least for a while. Looks good. Afaik, not all 51334 are made in S .Korea. Fwiw, like how you now say bypass "in dome" end. Plane noise from AF base or regional airport? Thanks for vid.
That looked pretty clean that could have gone another 7,000 mileage on an oil change interval/oil drain interval/oil life percentage interval light (OCI/ODI/OLPIL) fault code. 🙂
Indeed - identical to the Mann W811/80 filter too, which is even better value - the only difference is the 6-hole baseplate (5 on the OE) - I've torn down myself for my Kia
The 51334XP is rated 99% at 35 microns and this 51334 is rated 95% at 20 microns. So which is the more efficient filter? I wish the industry required a standard rating system.
Great Job Pete! Thanks for sharing, Cameron! The oil looks the right kind of dirty, not tarred or coked up. It looks the way it supposed to. And you can't go wrong with Wix.
This filter is basically identical to the Blue Hyundai OEM filter Which is a great filter. Some would argue it's a better product than their engines 😂. Some Hyundai's that have not used their OEM filters have suffered oil flow starvation in the past and increased wear. I'm assuming this WIX has the same specs and amount of flow rate as the OEM filter?
@@hoarybat61 That is an interesting tidbit, thanks. I never knew about the oil starvation, which sounds like would account for motor failures you hear about. Considering it is made in South Korea, It may very well have.
The big issue with Hyundai & Kia engines is that they use/burn oil. By the time you get to the scheduled oil change, you may be down to 1.5 qts in the pan. That's usually why they get starved of oil, in my 30 years of messing with them.
@@donwyoming1936 What is the scheduled oil change interval? I would never go more than 5K miles in any vehicle. YOu wait till 10-15K you are asking for trouble.
Great video. Filter looks very well made. I have used these in the past and currently. They are one of the best filters for the money. Was surprised to see it is made in South Koresa. Another viewer mentioned they are made by DongWoo/Mann Humel. Wix has had factories all over the world for some time or have other companies make some of their filters.
Hi Pete 🙂. Looks like a good filter and another great review 👍. Hope you had a fun Halloween yesterday. We just passed out candy, a lot of fun seeing the little ones. Happy Friday!
Wow, thanks to Cameron for the data!!! What kind of oil were you using for the test with the higher iron number? Change of circumstances other than a little higher miles?
For that price can’t you get the wix XPor the boss which are both much higher end filters? The price you out up on the screen is high for this filter. Not a bad filter at all though.
I just ran an engine flush through my kid's old Hyundai with 200k miles on it. Gonna crack open the flush oil filter, and the rinse filter, this weekend. They will not be as clean as his filter!
Great video. WIX makes good filters. Even the imported ones are high quality. Interesting to see those numbers on a relatively high mileage engine that has a reputation for early failure. I wonder how long he was using Amsoil?
Whip, I have a question unrelated to this particular video. I'm in the process of getting parts together to build an engine for my old car. It's a 393w stroker with nice parts like AFR heads and forged pistons. The car originally used the FL-1A filters but I have to use the shorter filters now because I run an oil cooler. I normally run the STP S16 filters. The problem is the S16 and Carquest 85085 filters are now made in China. Can you recommend an American made filter that I can use to break in my new stroker motor when I get it done? That first break in is crucial. All these china made auto parts are really getting me down.
@WhipCityWrencher When you replied to my question I just happened to be near an Advance Auto. I ran on in and got a Boss filter. The part number that cross references to my old STP S16 is the Boss PBL14670.
When reading an oil analysis, you really want to compare the current readings to the previous readings for that particular engine and look at the trends for wear metals and contaminants. The universal averages are really meaningless.
Amsoil is probably the only thing keeping that Hyundai alive. I know a guy who works for Hyundai... let's just say they're disposable cars. Hopefully the combination of Wix and Amsoil will keep this one alive.
@@donwyoming1936 his experience has been similar to that; keep them serviced, don't drive them like a Formula 1 car, and check the fluids regularly. But most people don't and that's why they do a brisk business replacing engines on otherwise newer cars.

Wix is a Great Filter and Amsoil is meant to be 100 % Full Synesthetic. High Mileage Engine Oils is there any need for them ? From 5W-20 can go 5W-30 after car hits 150,000 Kilometres. Stick with Wix Filter.
High mileage oils definitely keep the gaskets in great shape. Even restore dried out gaskets. A lot of people run high mileage oil from day 1. In my experience, they're a wee bit thicker than standard oil of their weight, and I lose a wee bit of MPG with them.
So confusing, as the Wix filters made in Mexico or the U.S. recently have been sloppy internal messes. THIS one, made in S. Korea, looks like another Premium Guard clone, which is good, very clean, pretty well built, rarely too much loose glue in these ! Wix is now on my Buy list, as long as I see "Made in S. Korea" on it, a sign it's good. Hate to say it, but Premium Guard clones made in Asia (S. Korea, VietNam, or China) actually have good build quality, among them are: CarQuest Premium, NAPAgold, THIS Wix, Premium Guard, Pentius, MicroGard Select, and a few others that slap their name on a Premium Guard parts "kit" the factories in Asia subscribe to and use.
No way that I am going over 5,000 miles on an oil change ever again. And as a side note, why did I need to start the video 3 times to get the commercials?

Just marketing. Chanced the chemistry slightly and here’s high mileage.
High mileage oils restore gaskets. Makes them soft and pliable again. Plus, they have additional antiwear additives.
