How to get the warp back to the normal softbox:
1. Fold a few times using the usual folding method.
2. Flip the bent softbox flat wire to the opposite side.
After hours of hard work, my softbox is back to normal! 😆

this thing spent 5-6 years taking up space in a storage box unfolded because i almost lost my mind trying to figure out how to fold it back... saving this because i know i will inevitably forget how to do it again and i do not want it to remain unfolded for another 6 years... thank you very much and god bless you sir

I just received the 80x80 - I knew to twist it. I figured it out correctly when I first folded it (folding with least resistance so I must've grabbed the spine). After unfolding it (and trying it out) I viewed your video. Your book/spine analogy was a perfect way to describe it. Grab the book at the front (point) and spine, then twist. the 80x80 takes a little more of an effort, but it was fine. Great video - Godox/Flashpoint should hire you to demonstrate the way to fold this than the people that currently do so on their own video! (FYI, when my kids were little, they had these fold up taxi cabs and fire trucks that folded the same way (3'x3'x6' - very big, but thinner wires) which had to be folded in thirds, and then twisted, so I had some experience that I remembered from over 20 years ago LOL )

Thanks really helped out.. been using the book/butterfly fold storage since I bought my 80x80,even the seller specifically made it clear to me after taking it off from the bag it Cnt be folded back inside again and I agreed....but out of curiosity I came to my regular mr TH-cam where I get answers to most of my never ending questions...and like always problem solved👍

Thankfully after watching your vid I managed to fold it again and also reversed it and got rid of the bend 👍

Thanks for this video. I unfortunately found it after messing up mine up (courtesy of another TH-camr’s video, who ironically has his comments turned off). I was able to fix 1 of the 2 messed up sides and i was able to return the soft box to the original bag, thanks to you. Thank you!

Rented some Interfit soft boxes (same design) and trying to return them was made easy now 😎
I have a feeling that for long term storage, it might be better only folded down to the book stage, and then do the final scrunch/twist if you need to transport it somewhere...
Definitely, the wires are way too thick and I immediately gave up, and I just got mine... Feels bad, man. They really could've went with almost half as strong wiring.

I watched your video at least four times. It is still very hard to fold. I had a friend help me and it got bend like yours did. I was able to straighten my by laying it on a bed and bending and it is back to normal.

i wrecked it and was able to fix it. its hard to explain. but when i tried to fold it the correct way, after it was wrecked, i couldnt. so i had to force it and it seemed to just reverse back to its original state

I just twisted mine up and managed, with great difficulty, to get it back to normal. You gotta feel out where the wire is twisted up and then just twist it hard and it'll fix. It is annoying though and now my fingers hurt but it can be done.
Yeah so I did the same as your. Edges are kinda bent. This is my first soft box. So I will use it til I get better at off camera flash, but at lest I know how to fold it now. Thanks 😶

I think it folds more compact
I had the hardest time and literally wrecked it within minutes of getting it; however, I did fold it back in to place!! It just took like an hour of fidgeting. I was so sad at first, I thought I broke it lol - I wish it would've come with a link to a demo video or some form of instruction lol. I also popped myself in the face with it when I first opened it, there was no warning it was just going to spring to life out of the bag! What soft box do you prefer?

Cassandra Moleus just kept twisting it until it popped back to shape. But it took me like an hour.
@@GaryBrink mine went back first time thankfully. I prefer this to my other softbox which used 8 stiff rods to attach to the bowens adaptor.. it is just too fiddly for me.

I still don't have a clue. Engineering background, mechanical design degree, butI tried this for 2 hours, then figured I'd better just store and transport them in their triangle state. I've got them in a big circular reflector case. Don't know what's wrong with me, but the feeling is that it's just too forced to not bend it up beyond its limit. Yet in the video, it just folds right in.
oh no!, I got to your video too late, just turned my softbox into a soft taco.... after a frustrating half hour after a photoshoot late last nightnI gave up trying to get it back to shape --- I am going to re-try today, I don't want to have to buy another one sees really wrong.
Okay I got it fixed, it took a bit of anger and some thumb numbing bending.... First I found this video which gave me a bit of hope, th-cam.com/video/tUvGKEj6tD0/w-d-xo.html, I tried to follow his advice, I could see where he was getitng at but twisting the strong flat wire was hard on the thumbs... I could see that to function you need a triangular shape with a flat wire inside each side that was untwisted, as a flat loop. I could see that the inner part which connects to the S2 Speedlight bracket, that all four corners were orientated correctly and that as I went out to the other two outer corners of each triangle that the band had flipped inside out. Hard to describe, so at the speed light corner it was correct, and half way down each side coming away from the speedlight corner there was a twist so that the outer side of the softbox (the flat part opposite the speedlight corner) was completely inside out. trying to twist out each corner was impossible with my hands (I thought of finding a pliers) but I could see that all four sides had the same problem and it must be that there was some way of reversing distrotion just as there was some way of making it happen in the first time..... I wish I had captured it on video (I dont want to recreate the problem just in case).... I basically closed the softbox into what should have been flat triangles, I took the side opposite the speedlight (all sides were "bent" in the same direction) . Using quite bit of force, I pushed down, against the bend, with my knee in the middle of the bend, I was getting a big angry, so didn't care if I broke it, and suddenly it popped back into the correct shape. Two of the sides (again opposibe the speedlight corner) had bends in them but the triangles were flat loops without twists and I could easily bend those bent sides with my hands into a flat line... phew... Its hard to describe things that are very visual but I hope this helps somebody.

Pretty sure mine is just broken. The book spine, as you called it, will. not. bend. I think it was a return before it was sent to me because of the way it was packaged, but now I have to figure out how to ship it when it won’t fold up.

I have the one with the grid and there's no way that sucker is folding down with that attached to it. It feels like it might break. I'm not detaching it though, takes too long. Would rather just leave it as a triangle.

I just fixed mine. It took me like 30 minutes.
I just tried to fold it in all directions I could, until one was the correct.
I got mine totally fixed like new in under 10 mins. It's hard to explain but I will spell it out if anyone dm me in Instagram @lucem.caeli
If the 60x60 folds this hard, no wonder my 80x80 is practically impossible to fold without breaking. I don't think they tested it past the initial fold, which looks machine-made because it looked perfect

I was able to fix mine in place, I try to fold it backwards and than fold it the right way and it snapped back in place

Folding this thing is the WORST thing ever. I still haven't figured it out after several videos. I wonder if mine is defective. I've tried and tried and tried.

I HATE this dang thing. I’ve had it turn inwards on me twice now. Thankfully I was able to fix it, but I have to watch a tutorial on how to fold it every single time I use it. Mine also doesn’t fold as good as it used to. I really had to squeeze it in its case
I don’t really like it either.
I don’t like the light it gives for portraits. Only used it a couple times.
