  • As an F1 photographer I’m often asked, “How much would it cost to go to attend an F1 race”, “What’s the cheapest F1 Grand Prix”, “What’s the most expensive F1 Grand Prix” or “How much would it cost to go to every F1 race?”
Well, I can tell you firsthand that F1 travel is not cheap and in this video, I’ll tell you everything you’ll need to budget for to spend an entire year following the F1 schedule, I based it on the 2022 F1 schedule. From flights, hotels and tickets, to food, transport and travel insurance, there’s a lot of expenses you’ll have to consider for each F1 race you wish to attend, plus I’ve budgeted for 2 different ends of the spending spectrum.
So, get your pen and paper ready because there’s a lot of F1 logistics and travel planning to think about before you book your year-long adventure attending every F1 race in a season. Here’s how much would it cost to go to every F1 race in a season!

Thanks Kym. Think you're better off buying a campervan for the European races and driving to those races. Once your done with the van you can flog it off. Would love to see a teams travel budget.... One of the most overlooked expenses the teams have. Wish they had Malaysia on the calendar, that was usually a bargain from an Aussie perspective.

That is ridiculous. I used to work on yachts in Fort Lauderdale for quite a few years and it would be nothing for the owner to spend $80,000 on a paint job or $50,000 on new bed sheets for the yacht. I'm going to have to struggle and save for the next 2 years just to go to a single Grand Prix. I have been watching formula once since 1997 and I still haven't gone to a race that is one of the top things on my bucket list... someday it will happen 😁

@@TellURide447 oh trust me I know I have spent 6 years around Miami and Fort Lauderdale and I had to get the hell out of there ASAP. I was making $3,000 a month and only had to pay $500 a month for bills because I was living on the boats that I worked on so $2,500 a month would go to drugs and partying. I would rather go to the Canadian Grand Prix or Texas. I now live in Virginia so looks like Canada is the better choice 😁

Hi Kim! You are right in Mexico City you can expect to pay the same as any European city in food and accommodation on the higher end of the espectrum. If you want cheaper accommodation stay away from anything on Reforma. Hotels in the southern side of the city cheaper and you can be at the track in 30- 40 min without traffic.

I have attended 3 races (including Monaco & barcelona) plus testing and agree with the cheaper prices. We always go for general admission tickets which allow roaming anywhere around the circuit on the Friday (except Monaco). Take our own picnic for the day to save money and use public transport. Its often cheaper to get flight around the Wednesday before the race and the Wednesday after the race and stay in an air b and b. Love this review Kym as it is our dream when retired to follow each race for a year. Would love to see some reviews of the super expensive paddock club areas.

Great video Kym. I've been to Monza, Imola, and Austin. All three have been enjoyable experiences. However, Austin was a nightmare to get out of the track and back into the city (the uber line was around three hours wait). Imola was by far the easiest. We just trained it in from Bologna. But be careful, the trains getting out of Imola after the race were a madhouse. This year at Monza, we just trained it in from Verona, which was less than two hours.

As mental as it sounds it doesn’t sound to bad… 60k ish to have mostly GA tickets some GS at your fav tracks, Non Budget Airline flights (not Business class) and 4/5 star hotels and and restaurant food.
If you were to be successful in your career, retiring or taking a sabbatical to do this is certainly achievable, especially if you get some kind of inheritance or redundancy payout etc…

Hey Kym I know you must do fairly well selling your various prints, books and such but I don't imagine that your sales cover all of your F1 expenses, especially since you fly a lot in 1st class and business class, stay in nice locations and rent a lot of cars. Would it be too personal to ask how much YOUR COSTS are for an F1 season? I imagine it's up there, pretty close to the top end figure you mentioned or higher ..... care to let us know?

It’s available to all my VIP channel members for free too. If you want more information, book a one to one session with me at www.kymillman.com and I will gladly tell you what I know.
