Love the video, but I'd love to see a follow up that could show the data on how little of a difference a level 1 item vs level 30 effects your stats. As well as Boost Emblems being bronze vs Gold. Or just not having access to enough of them. This beginning of this video was so very wonderful, but as an experienced player I already know Aoes Cookie, Leftovers, Potion Charmander is a joke. This lack of transparency from Unite itself allows for ideas like "pay to win" to flourish. It's terrible when it comes to stats. Unless you go on Unite DB you have no idea if you need lvl 30 items and gold emblems or not. It's not very new player friendly. Show me how little "paying to win" matters when it comes to Item Enhancer and Gold Emblems.
UniteDB has all that sort of information. At random: Bulbasaur's emblem is +1.8SpA/-30HP at bronze and +3SpA/-50HP at gold. So they aren't even necessarily better, because the dropped stat is also worse. The color bonuses seem to make a lot more difference anyways.
I understand that there's a difference of 1.2SpA and -20HP in your example, but for a majority of players what does that mean? When you log into Pokemon Unite and choose Venusaur. How much SpA does Bulbasaur have at lvl 1 and Venusaur at lvl 15. Without Unite DB. What does it mean? Why isn't Pokemon Unite sharing that information? It's because they want you to believe that 1.2SpA means something? Why? So you can buy energy boosts and get gold emblems. Then people like Moist and MrBoss make videos talking negatively about the game and people believe it. Why? Because there's no in game data saying otherwise. And honestly most of the creator reaction videos are: "Mrwhosetheboss you're wrong. Pokemon Unite isn't pay to win" but I haven't seen any data or research from these creators. The first part of Teeds video here is the closest thing I've seen to an acceptable reaction. The creators biggest complaint is you don't understand. Then explain it!
It's okay. I understand. It seems like an extreme reaction to play with no items or emblems. No one seems to have the answer I'm looking for. Why do level 30 items exist if they "don't add anything" why are their gold emblems if they "essentially do nothing"
The only time it kind of felt P2W was the game's first release. This was at a time where Tencent & TiMi were ultra stingy on giving out tickets & coins. So getting the item coins were a hassle. Especially in rank where you can feel the difference later matches. Ever since they were called out though, that hardly been an issue, but more of a fear they'll go back to that. We get so much daily just for logging in, it feels great in a way. Just man... wish the skins were cheaper. - looking at you Azumaril & Ninetales -
I was the Azumarill In the 2nd game hehe 🥰. I was so confused but RTSan just shared ur vid and NOW I UNDERSTAND 😂 Was glad to be a part of this fun vid omg. Catch u in Solo Q again some time 🥳
The only money I spent on this game was just on Battle Passes and some low cost Holowears. Just had to grind for Item Enhancers and tickets. I have multiple items maxed out. So yes, you really don’t need to spend any money at all in Unite.
I never spent money on unite and never ever flet like spending it cuz it's a game which can be won by skills (mostly spamming on screen). Like me, I've reached master class without spending money though it is hard when there is no coordination between trainers which I really miss
Paying only mattered in the first few weeks or so, was kinda rough when you went naked VS a fully stacked team with bonus HP and ATK each. but after everyone got their LV30s, that advantage was gone.
This was such a great video, and so funny. And your right, it hurts that he is giving a skill base fun game which is growing a bad name. I hope it doesn't hurt the game😭😭😭
This is a really funny criticism of the video everyone’s talking about. I love how she’s funny about being critical unlike some of the other content creators who are more serious about criticizing him
Unite started out as pay to win(kinda), but that feeling started to die down when the devs started literally giving out item enhancers and coins through recent events! The first few weeks may feel pretty tough, but as time goes by and you grind daily, you’ll notice that this game isn’t even pay to win! It’s all about skill and patience ❤
I remember a quote (I think it was from scottfalco) said it best “Just because you give a monkey a shotgun doesn’t mean it will win a fight against a lion”
Someone is going to bring p2w Charizard to an actual tournament someday and maybe make it work. This build has probably been immortalized into the game. I wonder if he would also use the mighty red and yellow emblem combo
Bit what can you buy in unite? What helps you to play better? You only get skins and stuff like that. I havent put money in it and im not missing anything.
The first time I got to Master was with float stone, rocky helmet, leftovers talonflame because I just started the game and thought those items were op.
As a unite player, what i like about unite is that you can use real money, but only when you WANT to, like when you want to get a new unite licence or some cool holowear! (I did both because I got urshifu and the ghost style holowear when it became available)
I started playing like a year ago and then stopped but recently i got into a discord server with a lovely and welcoming comunity so i started playing again and they have helped me so much
As someone who played Pokemon Unite but hadn't played for a long while now... I had every item maxed out before the second season even ended. Pokemon Unite is an example of a Premium Advancement game. Players *CAN* spend money to speed their progression to end game, but it isn't mandatory and it doesn't make any difference in the end. The game flat out gave three Level 30 Item Boosters and another six 7-day Level 30 Item Booster Trials . The rewards from Season 1 alone gave enough Tickets to level up 5 other items to Level 30. I pointed this out on his video and in twitter and got attacked for it, saying I was defending a toxic and predatory practice in mobile gaming. People flat out refuse to see the difference between Pay to Win and Premium Advancement games. Pay to Win would be like "Buy this button that boosts your stats by 99% and instantly kills the next target you attack. Only available in the cash shop" Premium Advancement is "You'll need to grind a bit in-game to reach end game, but you can pay us and reach end game faster." (Edit) Both are pretty shitty tbh, ngl. But I'd rather play and enjoy a Premium Advancement game where I know the game is 100% skill difference after I grind my gear to end game.
I honestly have not bought anything with money in this game except the occassional gem grab or two, but as a caveat, I have to grind like an old time London orphan stealing wallets on the street to get aeos coins for new licenses. Also, the fact that Teeds did pretty ok with that P2w build means MrBoss was wroooong.
She did pretty ok? Did she win though? She's claiming it's not p2w, but every comment that I've seen saying it's not p2w seems to have spent money for upgrades that help them win more. That's the definition of p2w. The term does NOT mean that you are unable to lose (in fact, people who spend for shortcuts often fail to learn the skills/lessons they were supposed to learn along the way, and so they crush non-spenders, but lose easily to other paid players who are simply better than they are.)
@@aBadWizard i literally got all my held items and got many of them to lv. 30 just by grinding tickets and upgrade coins. I literally paid nothing to raise my tickets and upgrade coins. Are we playing the same game or are people that impatient. Ypu can play the game without paying a cent and the experience is slower but basically the same. If you wanna spend money, you pay for aeos gems which are the "P2W" currency, but teeds never paid for them through the whole video.
@@tangytablets5150 so there are only cosmetic items in the shop, and no microtransactions for acquiring or leveling up gear? What is the point of leveling gear then, just to make it look cool? If there is any item/pack that you can purchase for an advantage in PvP, then that means by definition the game is p2w. That's what the phrase means. It does not mean you win every game forever. Often it means you speed up your progress so you're stronger than others during the period that it takes them to level up to where you've bought your way to. That's how most p2w games work.
@@tangytablets5150 also. Do they have an energy system in the game that needs to be refilled once you're out, or can you grind as much as you like every day?
@@aBadWizard only cosmetics and the licenses are where the aeos gems are used, yes. The enhancement medals and tickets which can upgrade the held items are mostly from just grinding or the daily gacha, which is built up through grinding as well. I think the game is all just about the grind. The more you play, the more you get in-game currency that isnt paid for. I mean, its an important thing that people are playing the game daily, isnt it? And if you have a favorite pokemon or character archetype, youd be pressed to spend aeos gems (the paid currency) to get their license early or get a costume that youd like on them, right? Especially if you play the game on the regular. But also, the licenses, which allow you to play as a specific pokemon, can be bought with aeos coins (another non-spendin in-game currency) a week AFTER the license is released so its all about choosing whether you wanna wait and grind for a week to buy it with in-game currency or spend gems to get it a week early. There is a choice at least. You dont HAVE to spend real money to play a pokemon in the long run. There are honestly no big p2w mechanics in Unite. A lot of it is skill based and how willing you are to spend time grinding per week to build up your personal items. Plus the events and challenges give you free stuff if youre willing to play through them to completion

Then explain it!
watch chrisheroes, hes using none of any held item and still win
sorry my english is bad
It's okay. I understand. It seems like an extreme reaction to play with no items or emblems. No one seems to have the answer I'm looking for. Why do level 30 items exist if they "don't add anything" why are their gold emblems if they "essentially do nothing"
@@NitsuaBZ i mean emblem and held item its not the main reason you win the game.
The real pay to win, is paying Chris Hero's to be on your team.
Thank you for coming out about CrisHeroes and talking about him. Your voice matters. I can't believe what he did
In the video the guy just tries to go melee against an Absol and 2 more dudes AS A PIKACHU, and he blames the game
I gotta say, it seems like the script AND the editing really stepped up for this video. Maybe even better than Mrwhosetheboss 🤔
To be honest I didn’t even know the whole “pay to win” situation it was about skill and experience in my opinion
Catch u in Solo Q again some time 🥳
As a Charizard main, that “pay-to-win” build hurts my soul.
Your energy in this vid is EVERYTHING! “WELCOME TO WENDYS BTTTTCH” 😂😂😂😂
Teeds this was your best video ever. The sarcasm had me dying. Ive never heard someone be so mean in such a nice way
The only money I spent on this game was just on Battle Passes and some low cost Holowears.
I can't believe the cursed build actually works. It's almost like Teeds' skill is higher than that of Mr Boss.
Ooh lemme get settled for this tea ☕☕
Paying only mattered in the first few weeks or so, was kinda rough when you went naked VS a fully stacked team with bonus HP and ATK each. but after everyone got their LV30s, that advantage was gone.
Teeds: "our community is great"
meanwhile me screaming at my phone because my teammate stole my jungle then went afk
9:50 I don't know why but that "Take my LEFTOVERS" had me in splits..lol Teeds
This was such a great video, and so funny. And your right, it hurts that he is giving a skill base fun game which is growing a bad name. I hope it doesn't hurt the game😭😭😭
There is a thing named "auto aim" btw. which is why he says "just spam ability's to win"
This is legit the best "response" video to Mrwhocares' incredibly misinformed... um... take.
That Mime example is all that's needed 😄
This is a really funny criticism of the video everyone’s talking about. I love how she’s funny about being critical unlike some of the other content creators who are more serious about criticizing him
I like when she fought the other Charizard she barely won and she had two teammates helping her. Yes this build is sooo pay to win 🤣
Then Zacian came out. And the Pay to Win it's become reality.
Potion Charmander is doing his best, it's actually meta
Teeds may not have 1M followers but still her videos are very informative and fun to watch!
I remember a quote (I think it was from scottfalco) said it best
“Just because you give a monkey a shotgun doesn’t mean it will win a fight against a lion”
The secret is out. We must pay over $100k to GIT GUD. There's no choice. 🌝
There is, it is known as choice specs.
Someone is going to bring p2w Charizard to an actual tournament someday and maybe make it work. This build has probably been immortalized into the game. I wonder if he would also use the mighty red and yellow emblem combo
Teeds you KILLED it in this video I haven't laughed this hard in a long time
His Charizard Build was Muscle Band + Razor Claw + Scope Lens, the name is 翔虚 , you're welcome Teeds xD
Oh no. HE SPENT 2 MILLION HE'S PTW! Nice editing to
It’s not pay to win, I spent a million dollars and I still lose
These videos only get better
Spent all the money in my parents saving account.
Got beaten the shi out of….. but at least now im winning in unite 👍
Potion ensures that you use your unite to max
This was such a fun video ...
Thanks Teeds ..
By using the power of copy and paste I am here to tell you the charzard was running a build of: Muscle band, Scope lends, and Razor claw
Bit what can you buy in unite? What helps you to play better? You only get skins and stuff like that. I havent put money in it and im not missing anything.
Proof that Unite is not p2w: "I spend money on this... and I still lose" 😅😭
Copium at its finest
The first time I got to Master was with float stone, rocky helmet, leftovers talonflame because I just started the game and thought those items were op.
Subscribed cause teeds is actually an entertaining Unite youtuber
Pokémon unite is actually "pay to be handsome in battle"😎
I love this new meta, joking about the bad builds lol
As a unite player, what i like about unite is that you can use real money, but only when you WANT to, like when you want to get a new unite licence or some cool holowear!
(I did both because I got urshifu and the ghost style holowear when it became available)
thank you needs for this correct information and justice for Pokemon Unite
I started playing like a year ago and then stopped but recently i got into a discord server with a lovely and welcoming comunity so i started playing again and they have helped me so much
Awesome to hear!
This guy couldn’t be more wrong, so weird how they though they did something
They have actually
so- remember how the game gives you 3 level 30 item tickets almost right off the bat now?
This whole controversy will age very well when every new release Pokemon costs 30k coins and 575 Aeos Gems.
the name of other pay-to-win Charizard called: 翔虚(Xiang xu)
Love your videos teeds
Teeds ATE and left no crumbs… icons only 👑
I wanna add how good Teeds taste on videogames is! I mean kingdom hearts and smite… slay queen
😂😂😂
Only available in the cash shop"
Premium Advancement is "You'll need to grind a bit in-game to reach end game, but you can pay us and reach end game faster."
(Edit) Both are pretty shitty tbh, ngl.
That mrtheboss guy became the official joke meme when its about p2w unite which is funny and he deserves it XD
