    Thank you Rabbi.
My son got hit with mental illness at the age of 22 when he was a three-year medical student. I suffer with sadness to see him. So I now make sure he is comfortable. But oooh how my heart aches.

My daugther was hit by mental illness at 15, now she is much older, doing great, working, married, children. She takes her meds "religiously" and she is balanced. She is not defined by her mental illness.

Dear Rabbi Jacobson, I want to express my gratitude for your video. I'm affect with alcoholism and depression. Thank God or who knows I'm sober since several years. The video was quite hard to bear for me, I got belly pain. It's about accepting what I can't change. I want to say thanks to your compassionate words and attitudes you showed. More people with your attitude would make the world better. I try to do it my way helping newcomers in AA, it's such a gift to offer others help. Or give a kind word to a stranger.

I knew much of this when I was five years old, when no one had ever told me about God or inner life.
Why did the world have me doubting, struggling and searching and dragging for 40 years before I finally know I've heard God's voice all along?

Their souls are below as they were above, scarred like the Moon. So we aim for the mountain and get closer to Shekinah; we open up to the glory. They/We are special, with a special mission and trust.

Omg, Amaizing lecture. I just wish to understand what kind of pain is a mental illness. I heard so many times Mental illness gives you pain.

I socialize a lot, and am blessed with many friends, but I conceal my pain completely from them. I haven't felt happy for at least 4 years. I feel an impulse to just isolate myself completely, but I can't. And when I do, the pain doesn't leave me, I just don't have to also hide it behind a mask of mostly ironic and cynical humor.

Thank You so much for coming on our lines. You touched on core topics with characteristic insight and empathy. I especially connected with the discussion
about אם אין אני לי מי לי. Your chizuk and דברי ברכה were so appreciated!

Such golden truths. Ty for this compassionate video. 1.) Mental illness is very common. We should acknowledge we do not know why bad things or illnesses happen. 2) Courageous souls are sharing their stories despite the struggle and stigmas. They create light in the world. 3.) It is cruel to say the mentally ill lack emuna. Remember...Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, Gd is holding your hand. 4.) Do not make an image of Gd in your head based on your parents. That is idolatry What do we know? He is "INFINITE LOVE ..."

It's so soothing to hear you. Thank you. Life's a mystery we are hurled in to experience the light that we initially are but have forgotten.
Each time I move away from G-d It was as though he tried to bring me back to home forcibly out of love.
Life's hard. It sucks. For many It's nightmarish. If It's G-d who chooses our destiny I suppose that It's a way to know ourselves better and realize how much we are able to transcend any situation with dignity.
    Harsh still

To those in the diaspora and down due to anti-Semitism I say to you that anti-Semitism is not your problem but the anti-Semite's problem. Now feel better and if you choose aliya for a change in environment then by all means do.

The Rebbe teaches us that if someone is unkind to us, have compassion on them. Think of them as someone whose brain is damaged.

    • @ttee6990
      @ttee6990 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

their brain isnt damaged. their brain is operating differently. to say its damaged is hurting the people who are innocent and dont mean it at all. and misunderstanding them. they need to be guided. this video is to educate and not bring labels of "damage" noone is damaged. its not fair to say this. noone wants to have mental issues or be unkind. they just dont know how and are wired differently.
