Do the challenge with a new Whatnot account and no followers. See how long it takes build up your following and show how to start 'fresh'.
That's a cool idea actually
Eh. I just don’t think it’ll be that difficult. I might try it though since people seem to be interested
They wouldn’t get any profit with a new whatnot account they only can now bc of the TH-cam following so I would like to see tht as well
With no one knowing it’s Hairy Tornado.
My only reason is your selling with a large audience that follows you on Whatnot. If you have a small budget and no following, how would the sales be starting totally from scratch?@@HairyTornado
Man, this is basically the exact business model I would do if I were you guys. You don't even need that huge garage/warehouse. You guys could easily stop buying inventory, whatnot for days to eliminate EVERYTHING you have. Then, in the mornings, go to thrift stores or shop the bins, come home, Whatnot auction it all, pack it up, take it to the post office, and boom--no more inventory and daily funds. You have the following to pull it off for sure!!!
Absolutely. The warehouse comes in handy when we make large bulk purchases, but that model would definitely work well.
I have a 1800 sq ft building and it’s packed!
Great video! Actually very fun to watch. Amazing what you guys do on Whatnot. Keep up the great work! It helps to keep me motivated. Catch you on the next video.....
That would be a lot of waisted gas.
I'm so glad you did another challenge. I love these!
The key to this is hard work, too many people are lazy. You deserve your success, Josh & Hayley x
Josh love your challenges, you nailed it. God bless stay safe until the next video 💓 😍
Whatnot shows from the parking lot! Winning reselling formula :)
I showed this video to Jim, my hubby and he was blown away! He just couldn’t understand what the heck you were doing! It took me awhile to explain it to him. Then we watched it again and he had a good laugh. He said “why? “. I said because he can and he said you were a Nut! But all in good humor.
Our Goodwills in southern Ohio are terrible. I would never find anything for fifty cents. The plush are all over $4.
Yard sales are a good source to find things. A lady sold me a gnome cookie jar for a dollar. No chips or crackling, ceramic, spring colors, nicely painted. My daughter loved it so it was kept. Plus I bought my mother two long sleeved shirts for 50 cents each. She liked one of them. For reselling, I look for items I can sell for at least 3 times the cost.
Great video, back to one of your earlier video formats. You guys always keep it interesting. Thanks.
Thank you! I enjoy how you switch it up! I enjoy What Not! and love that you are sticking to it!
Omg. For a quick second I thought you skipped the cute outro to
Cover the lense and the “whooosh” soundFx ❤❤❤😅😅😂❤❤
Lol I love the intro too.
Awesome video love how you showed what you bought and sold in 1 day.
Super excited to get the Jaguar hat. Thanks Josh!!!!! Love it!!!!
Your thrifting challenge reminds me of the good old days 😀 I always look forward to your thrifting challenge 👍🏼
I love your videos.... Never missed them
Yes!!! Love taking 50 cents and turning it into $10! What a fun video! 👍😎
WHAT A FUN VIDEO CONCEPT AND OF COURSE YOU WERE SUPER SUCCESSFUL ON WN!
Absolutely love these challenges! Takes me back to when you first started.
I still enjoy the grass roots the hustle, Josh. You are one of the people who got me started. You and Wifey enjoy your success. You have earned it!
Hope you have a great week! Love all your creative ideas Josh! Time to grind this week away! Thanks for the motivation! 🎉😊🤌💰
Very interesting idea, love to see it upscaled.
Love seeing a new video hype! 💚
Hello 👋 and hope all is well with holly.
Wow 🤩 I really love this .50 cent challenge you put together and maybe next time you and holly can go head to head on a .50 cent challenge.
Who is Holly?
Love these challenge videos. ❤️
What a great video to start off my birthday to, thank you for all the hard work!
Liked this one 😊 love that you try to do different formats to keep us on our toes 👍🏻
Great challenge. It was interesting to see how quickly a single purchase could escalate into more money for more sales.
Before clicking the screen record, hold it down and it gives you options on the microphone on or off 🙂
I wish my Goodwill had these kinds of prices. A regular T-shirt in my local Goodwill is $4.99.
What a fun video! Please do these more often!
I love these challenge videos! I’ve missed them!
A really cool video would be start in the car park at opening, start with a dollar and flip items with the profits all day in the car park until closing.
I hope Haley is doing better. Miss seeing her. I enjoy the video..
In the first clip with the plush there was a character from gabbys dollhouse that would probably have been quite popular
This was the MOST FUN! Thanks!!
While I love this video and appreciate the confidence that we can all do the same thing, I notice that there were 247 people in your show, and we have to take into account your following and it's not the starting point that the rest of us that haven't started a whatnot selling platform have yet. I was just approved to sell in WN and we are excited and nervous since we've been doing ebay for 17 years part time, but we now need this to be full time and take over my husbands income. So we are going to dive into WN in hopes of it changing the game for us as well. I keep hearing many stories from average sellers with no social media platform, that it's taking months and months to start seeing a following and profits so of course I'm afraid to take time away from ebay to put our business over on the whatnot platform. Praying that it works well for us, too!
If you have a fun personality and good inventory, you’ll do well. The people failing are either boring to watch, don’t have good stuff, are asking too much for their stuff, or they haven’t done enough shows to find their following yet. I’d say it takes at least 30-50 shows to truly learn the platform, learn your buyers, and develop that relationship.
Great to hear! Thanks!@@HairyTornado
Wow that was a great video and it just goes to show you that with 50 cents you can make some money I feel like I need a tutorial on what not I didn't even know that you could sit in your car and do one right there and sell her. Good for you and thank you for doing these challenges. They're very inspiring
Great Finds Awesome Day! All The Best! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed! Just notified your live on W/N here we go!
Great video, fun challenge!!👍💕
When I finally get to do my what not shows I hope I can get to doing them like a drop in the hat like you do!
I wouldn’t overthink it! I see new sellers all the time plan their first show for months out. Typically your first show isn’t going to be super successful so I wouldn’t put a ton of time into it. You can just go live from your car like I did in this video and try to sell one or two items. If you have cool stuff at bottom dollar prices, somebody will probably want to buy it.
I love this kind of video joshy❤
Cringe 😬 joshy? Yeah maybe his wife calling him that not you!!
I would love some yard sale videos like in the old days :D
Great challenge always a fun watch 😊
Bro im baffled at how you make money off legit junk....the power of having a youtube following
I don’t think any of this was junk. 🤷🏻♂️
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Although they definitely benefit from a following, they don't resale anything gross or battered - no junk. Plenty of times they admit things don't sell for a profit, or much of one.
Thank you Josh for a wonderful video, i loved it🎉
The purple dog in the bin by stitch is Cleo from Clifford the Big Red Dog! I bet that would have been good too ❤
Love these type pf videos thanks
Love this idea!! Great job!
Ur goodwill has a lot better prices than mine!!!
Great challenge ,well done 😊😊xx❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🦋🌺🦋🌺🦋
Great video, this worked because of your huge followers.
I thought you were going to keep going into the same store! Haha. Very cool video, as always!
Fun content again! Thank you! How is Hayley feeling? Hoping she's going strong!
She’s better. Still no voice
This was a great video!!
We need more videos of inspector mose
Increíble, felicidades ✌️
How about if you test the theory of people that thinks you sell those garbage items because of the following you have versus your idea that anyone can be successful in Whatnot. A good challenge would be if you make a live show selling things like a BIC pen, a toothbrush, a tape roll, a beanie baby plush, etc. That would give us an idea of how much the TH-cam following influences the purchase price.
Exactly it’s a false challenge when you have sooo many followers who are only buying items to help you out with the challenge
That's pretty good what you turn 50 cents into
Great job!
Yes that's bell from Beauty and the Beast
Turn on the microphone and it’ll record sound on screen record Josh! It’s a setting :)
Wow you are good with that.
Ohmigod I love this 😂 sending to my boyfriend cuz he laughs at me for loving .50 items
Great job
Hairy Josh, only you can make a dedicated ad into a great video. We hope Hayley feels better, she is missed. Mose?
Nice job it took me til now to watch but these challenges are always so cool. I really to get into this but retail stores and our goodwill is not great where i am in nc. I feel like id have to supplement my supply thru yard sales.
In that first plush bin you missed a disney Georgette from Oliver and co. She is worth a bunch!
Every time he says WhatNot, take a drink
Awesome concept. But not a thing 90% or more could do. Whatnot is still difficult to get approved. Also most folks who dont have large youtube following to join whatnot, will struggle to get a following. Again cool concept. But something very few could duplicate
So that’s why you were in the car 😂Great Video 👍 Tell Hayley I hope she’s feeling better ❤
Im going to do a challenge with no follower base. Let's see how hard it is to do it without having people prepared to buy from you because of you being a content creator
I know you are mainly a content creator now versus a reseller, but If I picked up all those same exact items and did an auction.... I would 100% lose money. The pokemon, rick n morty hat, vans, deadpool shirts you picked up are hardly worth a dollar on any marketplace.. My thrift stores are littered with that stuff and no one buys them.
A good video and a true test would be to create a new whatnot account (just have a friend or someone youtube doesnt know host it), or a new ebay account, and try this challenge again. Would probbaly be impossible or take months to get to $100 from .50
With that mindset, yes it would be impossible.
@@HairyTornado Respectfully, it's not about mindset at all. It's also not about business practices, perseverance, or dedication. I'm saying that even if I were to buy the exact same items you've purchased and resold in your video, I wouldn't make a profit on Whatnot. The reason you've made a profit, or even managed to sell these items, is because you have a following and leverage that advantage, which is okay. However, this should be disclosed in your videos. Instead, they seem to suggest, "Look what YOU could do; it's just as easy as this!"-when, in reality, the market doesn't work that way.
From the comments, I can see I'm not alone in my thoughts. Your videos are becoming increasingly unrelatable due to your choice of items, which have a -200% sell-through rate on eBay.
It seems like you're not truly committed to searching thrift stores and visiting five or more in a day, including the bins, to find desirable inventory. Instead, you're settling for items that the average person or buyer wouldn't want, but your fans might accept. It's as though they're primarily donating (as is common among livestreamers) and receiving a shirt worth a dollar in return.
I challenge you to prove the doubters, myself included, wrong. I'd be thrilled to see it. I'd even be content with a week-long challenge: "$1 to $100 Thrifting Challenge! Starting Over from NOTHING?!"
Consider doing this on a new Whatnot account, and perhaps have someone unknown to your TH-cam fans host your streams. Or, you could try to host the streams yourself without showing your face-maybe just use your hands and alter your voice. It would be an interesting experiment. And if it's successful, it would be incredible advertising for you and your partnership with Whatnot, demonstrating that anyone can do it, with proof.
Good luck and congrats on your success,
Isaac
Brilliant video 😸🤘🏻when I get the chance I want to do What Not Myself I gotta wait to get settled where I’m going. I hope Haley gets better 😸🤘🏻xx
That was fun. Thanx Josh! 😀Hopefully Hayley will be better soon. 🙏🏽Is there a possibility to see Kim once?
New sellers; take Josh’s and divide by 5 and that’s a more realistic take on what you’d make on each of those same items.
im a clothing reseller and i wouldnt even be able to give AWAY those shirts he resold.. his fans are essentially donating to him and getting a $1 tshirt as a bonus.
Hello Harry, this was brill, Hope you're feeling good, Gold BLESS YOU m,duck[local endearment saying] loveGRANDMA ENGLANDXXXX
Great video.. I enjoy your videos every time.. Kisses from Greece 🥰🥰
Hayley, Mose, Josh - wishing you well. Marie, Penny, John in Iowa.
I would have like to have seen some of the shipping you had to do and some comments on how long it took you to ship, it would have been really cool if you bought sold and shipped all in the same day.
Great video and good job on the challenge
I hope Hailey is feeling better!
Honestly jealous how cheap the shirts are for you, central Kansas our goodwill shirts are averaging $5+
Is it funny I seen you stage this 😮 you know what I’m talking about 😊
Thanks Josh!
I watched a guy go to all the expensive stuff at a card shop to flip and bypass the dollar boxes that had way more potential an=d lower cost. For his $1300, he has to work his way out of a hole. 2x your more on each the dollar cards on the low end.
You always come across such amazing T. shirts
Mos in every video plleeaassee?? Love from New Zealand
What a fun video today ☺️☺️
Hi Josh, I’m in the UK, and whatnot has just started over here, but at the moment it’s only trading cards and football (soccer) cards. Do you know if it will eventually evolve to how it is over there? You mentioned it started up with just funkopops so that’s why I ask. Maybe you could enquire for us? Thanks, keep up the good work on the flip house 👍
Well that was fun! 😊
Love your channel!! Imagine if you were in charge of the Government budget, you are more efficient than Congress
What Not
Love this!
Mose for president!!!
Awesome video!
ive seen a guy at my bins do a whatnot auction live at the bins
Pretty unreasonable. Almost nobody has a giant whatnot to rely on. Ebay is the most fair playing ground for a new seller challenge.
Until people say “well your eBay sales don’t count because you have so many followers that buy from you”. lol.
@HairyTornado I'm a full tike ebay reseller and it's not like that on eBay. The occasional repeat buyer will show up. Whatnot is all based on popularity.
Thank you that was fun
Great fun challenge
Great video
