I leaned a while back not to ever be surprised by anything Aurora does or says. She’s not just an incredible singer. She’s a true artist. Singer, dancer, musician, comedian, etc. The young lady is multifaceted. Her cover of David Bowie’s Life On Mars shows her ability to play the keyboards while singing so beautifully. It’s not the only song in which she plays, but it’s certainly memorable.

Someone once said that he considers Aurora not only a singer but also a storyteller. Every era has its great storytellers, and Aurora is one of the great storytellers of the current era, her stories are about feelings and the soul.

    Very nice reaction 😃
She learned dancing from the age of 6 until the age of 16, then she quit to be an artist.
In the beginning she actually didn’t want to be an artist, she’d rather be for example a dancer or an astronaut.
"Cure for Me" addresses the widespread misconception that LGBTQ+ individuals can or even need to be "cured". Aurora, bisexual herself, challenges that view, stating that nobody needs to be cured for love and hoping there will never be a cure for human nature. In the same interview, Aurora dives deeper into the song, touching on the legality of conversion-therapy and personal shame for being oneself.
On the song's world premiere broadcast, the deejay asked how Aurora felt writing a dance song, after having written many sad songs in the past:
"It felt very liberating. It was like this tiny, tiny door opened up in me, and I just felt like I had this whole new entire universe of sounds and music within me that I hadn't noticed before. So it was very liberating and eye-opening."
It would be fun watching you react to
“In Boxes” live at the Lowlands festival 2016
Aurora as a serial killer 😅
It’s actually based on a woman who lived in Auroras neighbourhood that frightened the children, she wasn’t dangerous but Aurora has a great imagination 👍😃
    “Apple Tree” official video
This is a song about saving the world, it’s a bit hip hop (ish)
Here she dances a choreographed dance 😍

The general meaning of the song is that we should not be too quick to accept that we need to change to conform to the norm, we do not need to change (to be "cured"), just because we are a little different.
The more specific meaning is a protest against conversion therapy which are practiced to try and "cure" gay people, and are still legal in many countries even in her own country Norway. Here is a quote from Aurora:
"Sometimes I feel like the whole world Is trying to convince you something is wrong with you. And sadly often people believe this to be true. It is very frightening how easy it is for someone to convince you that you are wrong. Or that you are overly emotional, too strange, and not good enough. And I think it's about time we shut those voices out. Because in no way should anyone convince you that you are not worthy because of the way you look, act, your faith, or the way you are born to love. We should be allowed to be human. And we don't need a cure for it."

Where did you even get that the, and I quote, *specific* meaning of the song is about gay people? lmao-
She is singing about someone who gets blamed for being happy as they are, while the other person is a toxic pos in general. "I dont need a cure" is simply a way to say she is not the one with the problem that she needs to fix, she is constantly mentioning she gave love, literally says "we dont belong together", and many other quotes that imply the same.
Literally how does that make it about gay people.

She was about 25. She is 26 now.I think the masks represent the facets of personality that others may not consider normal, or "normal" people hiding their oddness behind masks. She learned the discipline of interpretive dance for about ten years in school, before it was learned she could sing. Great song and video! Appreciate your reaction!

In this video you can see that she could have also danced professionally had she chosen that path. Between the dancing, singing and poetic lyrics, I consider this video to be a piece of art.

  • @TomTomson81
    @TomTomson81 ปีที่แล้ว +14

The song in general goes against institutes that offer a so-called cure for homosexuality/bisexuality. In doing so, she is directly affects the topic.
And of course it should increase self-confidence and self-esteem for everyone who needs it.
I think that she's also pointing the (middle)finger at her critics and against people who call others crazy or creepy or laugh at them just because they dress differently, have ticks or otherwise fall out of the norm.
All movements that are otherwise involuntary with her, she makes here with full intention.
Her wide open eyes, her hand movements, Shaking her head and her involuntary twitches. Everything is clearly highlighted with the camera in various separate settings. That didn't have to be so it was intentional.
    "I don't need a cure for me"
Furthermore, Aurora is the only one without a mask. She is the one who shows her true self and does not hide. Everyone else wears one and seems to bury Aurora in the sequence in which she looks almost panicked into the camera. Which for me is an indication of bullying.
She painted the masks herself and her sister made her outfit. It should also create a bridge to "Exist for love".
I think the "Exist for love" reference at the very beginning (Aurora in the Crystal Ball on the Shell) had its reason. The song was also criticized. That wouldn't be Aurora and why is she singing such a song? Why only love between man and woman? And so on. The usual stupid talk.
The apple is from the Garden of Eden (the forbidden fruit and sin) and Aurora likes to bite in.😁. Which brings us to the Christian faith and its views on what love between two people should look like.
In addition, the apple could also be a reference to the sentence she once said in an interview. Why can't there be a wish inside an apple? Anything is possible if you believe in it. 😁
And by the way, the video is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The dance in corus and the visual. The sound in the chorus seems to be inspired by old video games. Aurora released a mini game shortly before, which also included exactly this sound.
In general, there are many special details in the video that have meaning. The black and white floor on which she dances or the glued 7 and 9 angular stars in her face and on the floor.
    7-star:
7 is a divine number and stands for the 7 chakras, 7 days or 7 sacraments etc. It also symbolizes perfection and connects spirit and matter in the universe. The seven star, also known as the heptagram, contains ancient knowledge and is considered a powerful protective symbol of the natural religions. People with the number 7 have a seventh sense and are farsighted and open to everything new.
Or Aurora watched too much Game of Thrones. What she actually does. Then another explanation would be possible. 😁
    9-star:
The 9 gives us access to our inner and higher wisdom. The number nine symbolizes the power of creation, bliss and knowledge. In Buddhism, the nine is the highest spiritual power and the associated symbol is the nine star (enneagram), which is composed of a circle and triangles. People with the number 9 are warm, intelligent, wise counselors, and good listeners.
A nine-pointed star also stands for perfection
    All features apply to Aurora

This is a really fun song and performance by AURORA, including visual and dance references to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland! She also shows off her dancing on the live LINDMO performance of Forgotten Love, as well as her live performances of Queendom, Heathens, and others (e.g. performances at La Cigalle in Paris, and her most recent performance highlighting a major music festival last weekend in Oslo) ! In addition, her music video for Apple Tree features great dance choreography, and her movements in the 2018 KEXP performance of All is Soft Inside display a unique Auroran energy you have to see for yourself!

In Norway it is alowed to do conversion terapi on "non heterofiles"....Aurora (bi herself) speak out against it....
Now there is a suggestion to a new law banning it, so the fight may be won soon.

The masks represent conformity. The song is against conversion therapy for gay/bi people (she's bi) and against conformity in general since she identifies as being so weird and geeky and society shuns it in general.
