She said the spark for the song was knowing they still have "Conversion therapy" for Gay people in many parts of the world (including Norway) And since she is Bisexual, she is part of the community, so it is very personal to her. She truly is a gift to humanity. I just love her. She cares so much about equality and making everyone feel seen and loved. No, this is not my favorite song of hers, but It is so fun and the message is so on point. The video is so "Aurora" It's been stuck in my head for days now. And, if you notice, she gives a big middle finger in this song to all the people that make fun of her so called "Ticks" (Like head shaking, hand movements and wide eyes) She puts all of them in the video. I just love her
Just started noticing her purposefully putting in all her mannerisms into the video as well :P I love it :D
She has said this song is not about her fight, but for other's. I guess she kinda slid that one part that was personal in there for her self ;) ;P

@@justjulie37 I started noticing it too, so you are not alone, but even if not, i still say good for her :D She deserves it!
@@renehoyvik I agree I also think she intentionally put some things which fits to song message and which some part of society could call as different. For example this cool "eye work" on beginning or parts at 2:56 or this cool fragment at 4:38 with rhythmic head moving. I even think this way of singing with some interesting voice modulation can also have deeper meaning connected with the song message. Good (but of course) different example would be Running with a wolves where she sing wolves like it would be wolf howling. But of course can be wrong:).
To be fair, the wide eyed stare is creepy as hell lol. Gave me flashbacks to the Eve of Destruction video

@@AdamStraughan Thank you for letting me know!!!❤️ I was curious to know what you'd think. I really liked the lyrics and the message. But musically speaking, "Cure for Me" had to grow on me. Personally, I hope there would be less mainstream pop, and more indie pop and rock in Aurora's new album.

This song is so niiice, i loved it
Enjoyed hearing/watching this for possibly the hundredth time, and your reaction! This video from Aurora seems very felliniesque. The room/backdrop in the video is a re-creation of a set from the Tim Burton film 'Alice in Wonderland,' and AURORA herself says that the dance she created is based on one performed in that film by Johnny Depp -- aka the 'Futterwacken dance' (but also with elements of the Charleston). The masks (she herself painted) feel especially felliniesque (and may reference Dionysus. She said there is a god or goddess invoked in each new video -- in EXIST FOR LOVE it was of course Venus).
Thanks for telling him of the Alice In Wonderland dance, Aurora borrows this beautifully from The Mad Hatter and does it justice!! 😍

Maybe the image in this video is Aurora's crystal ball, where she could foretell the future...I believe it's a hint about side B of this single. But since it's well known that Aurora starts working on the next album as soon as she finishes one, she could even hint about her fifth album, if not her fourth. It's not likely, but I mean she would be able to do so, if she wanted to. She's a real fortune teller!😉

Aurora said the song does not represent the album. It is quite separate, but it joins the story of the whole album. Aurora herself finds the song quite ugly in a beautiful way. 😁
The song in general goes against institutes that offer a so-called cure for homosexuality. Which is still practiced today.
And of course it should increase self-confidence and self-esteem for everyone who needs it.
I think it's great that she's also pointing the (middle)finger (besides all the other reasons not to need a cure) at her critics here and against people who call others crazy or creepy or laugh at them just because they dress differently, have ticks or otherwise fall out of the norm.
All movements that are otherwise involuntary with her, she makes here with full intention.
Her wide open eyes, her hand movements, Shaking her head and her involuntary twitches. Everything is clearly highlighted with the camera in various separate settings.
"I don't need a cure for me"
The apple is from the Garden of Eden and Aurora likes to bite in.😁. Which brings us to the Christian faith and its views on what love between two people should look like.
In addition, the apple could also be a reference to the sentence she once said in an interview. Why can't there be a wish inside an apple? Anything is possible if you believe in it. 😁
I think the "Exist for love" reference at the very beginning (Aurora in the Crystal Ball on the Shell) had its reason. The song was also criticized. That wouldn't be Aurora and why is she singing such a song? Why only love between man and woman? And so on. The usual stupid talk.
In general, there are many special details in the video that have meaning. The black and white floor on which she dances or the glued 7 and 9 angular stars in her face and on the floor. By the way, she painted the masks herself and her sister made her outfit. It should also create a bridge to "Exist for love".
And by the way, the video is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The dance in corus and the visuals.
I believe the reference to "Exist for Love" is connected to side B of "Cure for Me", "A Potion For Love". Both songs belong to the same genre. Feels like nostalgia to the 40s. Could this be, the wise old Coyote? Is this a hint about the new album?
@@dganit8807 most likely. But I have already heard that "Cure for me" is the replacement for "Exist for love". That "Exist for love" doesn't even come on the album. As I said, I only read that somewhere. Doesn't have to be right. But the 40s connection definitely exists. But that is well known. actually.
@@TomTomson81 I wasn't aware of that. I've just listened to "A Potion for Love" on TH-cam for the first time. So it was nice to discover this connection by myself.
Maybe the image in this video is Aurora's crystal ball, where she could foretell the future. @@dganit8807 Since Aurora once said some time ago that she is working on 2 albums, this is quite possible.
She wanted to show the weird sides of her that people have criticized her for. She wrote it in mad response to anti-gay conversion therapy still being legal in the world and in Norway. She identifies as bi, so she said it was for herself too.
