    It is sharp. I've owned motorcycles since 1967, mostly Japanese models and four Harleys. I will NEVER own another Harley. The last one I owned I paid $37,000 and it broke down four times within the first year of ownership. Now I'm ready to go back to the Japanese bikes and my choice is a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 custom. I found a used 2014 with only 4,000 miles for $3500. I lke the Classic lt , too, but I like the cast wheels and tubeless tires of the Custom. The best things about a Kawasaki, they are comfortable and reliable. Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

    I've got a 2008 900 custom. Its actually funny to see how much these have not changed in 13 years. But that being said I absolutely love mine. Its got 40,000 miles on and everyday is just a blast on it. I would trade it for the world. I do wish it was a 6 speed sometimes but besides that these bikes are amazing fun and probably the most reliable motorcycle you can buy.

    As a 42 year old 6'1" 218lb man wanting his first and last bike, I am at a toss up between this and going all in with a 2021 HD sportster.

    • @VELOCITYPOWERSPORTS
      @VELOCITYPOWERSPORTS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That really is the question. "Do I want more torque with the potential of triple the repair cost? Or do I want a bike that's cheaper to modify, rides exponentially smoother, with slightly less power?" I'm definitely a bit biased, but if I had to chose one, it's gonna be the Vulcan all day long.

      My 2 cents. As someone in the same height and weight range. I have a cousin that has Harleys and has an extra sportster he lets me ride don't get me wrong it's a nice bike but after about 40 miles it feels short cramped and very harsh rear suspension. I've owned several bikes but never a cruiser that being said I would sure weight my options carefully. HD is a great iconic bike but there are way nicer alternatives to a sportster.

      @@stevebeard7667 Have owned a 2020 vulcan custom for a year now. Plenty of power; plenty of torque. On the scale of the big HD's, or, Indian Chiefs (which i test drove a Chief a couple of days ago with more than TWICE the size of the vulcan engine - 1900 CC), this doesn't compare; but, as just said, test driving the big Chief, there's SO MUCH power, torque and H.P., it whip lashed me changing from 1st to 2nd, till I got accustomed to it. Those size engines are over the top and can really jerk you around with their power . . . if like me, you're an older guy, what do you want prove with that? After 40 year break from cycling, I came back to it a year ago and for price, looks, performance, and quality build, this bike arguably, covers those areas really well.
      The Vulcan does very well at 70 -75 mph on the highway; it IS a heavy bike weighing in at around 650 lbs or so, and the 50 HP/900 cc engine is a powerful package; true, not in the class of the big boy touring and baggers, but it's no slouch . . .it handles beautifully on city streets and country lanes, as others have mentioned, the maintenance is limited to change the oil and filter as recommended and know you've got a quality built simple machine. BTW. I'm 6'1" and around 250 and this is a fun, inexpensive, and beautiful bike (I like the 2020 custom a little more than the colors on the 2021 or 2022 but I'm biased.)
      As a "first" bike, and possibly last, if moneys no object, and, you don't mind the vibration, and, the higher cost of parts and maintenance, and the non really needed bigger power plant, AND assuming you like the cruiser class rather than touring, sure, go HD and join that crowd. But check your wallet, the looks of the bikes, and know that this is aa "cool" not common bike where I live. . . there aren't a LOT of 2020 - 2022 custom vulcans around Nashville TN. Mine is the only one I"ve seen; you'll stand out with the looks of it, and as so happened this past week, a HD bagger was next to me in a parking lot, and remarked "that's a sweet bike your on." and . .he's right.

    It WOULD look great if everything that is black was chrome and/or silver. Those flat black pipes are hideous. I saw one on the showroom floor, and the pipes were already all splotchy and scratched up. The chrome stock pipes on my 129,000 mile 1997 Vulcan 750 still look like new. Sadly my bike is pretty well worn (it has been ridden all over the U.S., Mexico, and Canada) and I was looking for something to replace it with. Unbelievably I could not find a single bike that was not mostly matte/flat black. When is this "black" fad going to end? I will likely have to buy an older bike with a lot less miles. I remember seeing a new 2007 model (which I believe was it's first year) at a dealer when I went in to by parts, and it was gorgeous. It was Candy Plasma Blue, with lots of chrome, silver wheels and engine. About the only black thing on it besides the seat and tires was the seat. They took a beautiful design and totally ruined it.
