I messed with this in Reason what seems like a decade ago. Not sure I want to revisit its functionality or not. Seeing one un-purchased IAP in Gadget is triggering for a sick individual like myself :/
Also know that feeling haha. It's still not clear what Propellerhead's strategy is outside of reason if a unstated cohesive plan even exists. Release for years have been a bit random. Like they try something once and that's it. You can have Thor iOS, no other module though. All this time later, a kind of odd proposition of REX in Gadget. So the assumption is the target market of, people who use Gadget, buy IAP's and also use Reason to the extent they have enough REX files to warrant this IAP as having value to them. Seems a weird possibly highly limited set of target market parameters. I have over 500k REX files, still cut with Recycle and I'm not even sure I want or need this in any way. I'd hope it hints at a future integrated full plan for mobile, but I'd just as likely assume they did this because they could get paid with no real lifting, get the Stockholm device name to create associative brand awareness...and maybe that's all they care to accomplish here.
+Jamie Riley, I had a qt. I too have many rexs. I was curious why would you not buy this if you had so many Rexs.I planning on getting gadget & get this, but would want to know why ppl would not buy this.
Mainly that I have other apps to simply chop whatever WAV/AIFF I've imported or made within iOS. And just personally it's underwhelming compared to what I'd really like to see Propellerhead do in the mobile market. Which is a mobile version of Reason. Since your comment they released an app called Reason, but it is not a mobile DAW at all. It's really just Figure expanded with the newer Europa synth engine underneath. But extremely limited. Back to the Stockholm device, for me personally it would just be more trouble to put a bunch of REX on the device to only be used with this IAP. I could more easily just keeping using one shots and WAV loops. And any efforts I make to involve the REX format would only be for Gadget, and useless for every single other iOS audio app. But I'm only speaking for my own usage scenarios. It's a nice thing if someone determines the cost is fair and they want to bring REX into things. Just was personally underwhelmed Propellerhead again went with the most limited and closed off thing they could for a mobile based release. But as you mentioned for your situation, I assume you'd be using Gadget a lot, have lots of REX material as you said; so maybe more of a value in your case. But yeah it was those two angles I judged this release on, not meaning to say it's awful or of no use to a different user :)
Thanks for your response. Yes, I hear you about using wavs. And yes, I too was hoping prophds would come up with a mobile ver of Reason, but was disappointed with their another-synth app. I am wondering what are these companies thinking when they want to create an App. Aren't there enough synth apps out there on iOS? Why are these people creating Synths ? Look at how creative Sugar-bytes are. PS: btw due to sale I went & bought the rex IAP, just to expand Gadgets possibilities.
I ordered some hip hop Rex loops on eBay plus got lots free ones too lol plus I've got loads of sample discs I need to go through at some point lol might be some Rex files on them lol
Hi Doug I’ve been viewing your demos and just wanted to let you know how awesome the sound test room is and would love to see more information on Stockholm and Abu Dhabi and groove rider and I saw your demo on gorillaz and non gorillaz i electribes and still trying to see how deep these apps get XD for the information
Thanks for the review, Doug. I was curious about the file source. Not a reason user and I know there are a ton of free files out there, this might be the first Gadget I skip out on. If there's an update where it can convert the file from a wave or if it accepts wav files in the future I'd then buy it.
I've been using REX, Apple Loops and ACID loops for years, and there aren't that many options for swapping REX to WAV, CAF, etc. and vice versa outside of Reason. The Mac App Store has an app that will convert REX files to WAVs and AIFFs. But I think you still have to get some version of Reason to convert other audio into REX files. The good news is that you can get the cheaper Reason Essentials, and I think it still allows REX creation without having to buy all of Reason. That said, being able to trigger REX loop slices from a controller is like a new drug. Very addictive. This Stockholm addition to Gadget may become very popular with EDM producers, and likely with hip hop and other similar styles.
Yes. Like this video, I also use Dropbox this way. Just pull all your REX files (at least those you want Gadget to get to) into a Dropbox folder. Once inside Stockholm, open up your menus for loop slots and you'll see an Import option. If Gadget and Dropbox are connected on your device, you should be able to pull in any of your REX loops.
YOU’VE GOT THE ARP STILL ACTIVATED!!!!!! 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Is there a version of Recycle on iOS or are we limited to our 20 yr old Rex files?
Oh it does import Rex files, the loops were not playing in pad mode cos you had arp on
Gadget is a gateway drug that leads to eventual addiction to other drugs like Beatmaker 3. Good demo of Stockholm BTW.

theTerribleFamiliar Roll with it man! REX files are still an awesome way to chop drums! If that’s your cup of ☕️

This is all new to me, thanks for the tutorial. This rabbit hole looks pretty deep ... 😎👍
Will it open Rex files from a refill file. For example I have Norman cooks and cold cuts refills for reason ?
Nice One, Doug! These .rex2 are bringing me back to the late 1990's - Yeah! 🤗😁👊
@11:00 ...the temptation to go mental! 🤣🤣
@The sound Test will Room... I know is been 5 years, but the problem that you got isthat you got the ARP on, thats why you can't play as the loops
You should double tap the gadget and make it larger for us to see.
I wonder if this means we will see more Reason synths headed to Korg Gadget. Short of Reason for IOS this is really cool.
Since Thor already runs on iPad, it seems like it wouldn't be a big leap to get it into Gadget. Would love to see it happen. : )

Rediscovering Stockholm Gadget!🎃
..it's actually a really powerful Sampler!💯

Won't happen my friend. Better to go with reslice. Slightly different how it works but powerful
Yeah... I’m just not that interested.

Can you really import from audioshare? Could you show a demo?
i’ve read on fora you can’t import your own samples (from audioshare)
My Rex files are grayed out and import options don’t show up on the dialogue box. Can anyone help?
what the differences between stockholm and abudhabi ?
Abudhabi is wav base shops... no rex
Can we import external Rex files ?
Yes. Like this video, I also use Dropbox this way. Just pull all your REX files (at least those you want Gadget to get to) into a Dropbox folder. Can Rex files be extracted from a refill ?
Harp is On ! Patate
Crazy and for $14 bucks? Crazy
$9.99 for me
Can’t lie , it bugs me that use your fingers instead of the Apple Pencil...haha
First
Where can you find free REX files?
