Kevin Allen hi trying to remember as my comment is 3 years old 😂 , workflow is quite simple really as I export to blocs chop and rearrange and sometimes mess with speed and then bring back into Zurich, sometimes I mix in other loops too from their library, a lot easier now with Files app than it was 3 years ago 😀
@@iamtruespaceman 😁 nice nice!!! I guess two questions.. is there an easy way to export all steps to blocswave or do u have to do it one by one for the export? And then did blocs automatically get the tempo, bar, and key (I'm assuming not hey but maybe the other 2?) Thanks dude
Kevin Allen for tempo as long as you input the bar count it would find it, also exporting from gadget you should be able to get that data, same with key, however blocs only deals with minor keys, so watch out if you are mixing in other elements. Exporting from gadget is easy as you export for Ableton and that splits the stems, to keep track of all this you definitely need audioshare app
@@iamtruespaceman this is perfect thank you so much! I didn't try Ableton for some reason! Okay this should be fun. Last question I am wanting to avoid using ready made loops (not sure if that's weird but I feel like it's cheating idk lol) is there a way to disable all or most of the ones it comes with and only use ones I upload??
Thanks much mate 🫡 Been actually making songs for two weeks now. Gadgets been so easy to use, but couldn’t figure this one out. Thanks to you my 3rd song is gonna have an epic intro … well I think so.
Good vid demo Doug. Sure was nice to get three new, free Gadgets!!! I tested the audio recordings (with both new gadgets) via iStudio interface and everything worked well.
Jamis Billson In college I had two roommates, brothers, from Recife. Otherwise I might not know either. But then I wouldn't be trying to tell people. lol
Does this app have a problem with audio routing? I’m running mine on thru Tascam Model 16 interface. The audio I’m recording seems to go in, but it doesn’t play back.
Great video, Doug! Thanks for all your hard work. I think that you can do 32 bar sounds if you set your time signature for the track at something like 4/2. Any time signature that the top number is double will allow for 32 bar loops. I did a quick proof of concept but would love confirmation from others.
Awesome! I was wondering about that 16bar limitation, but I'm not sure gadget is meant to handle full vocal recordings like a traditional DAW. Seems to me that its meant to work similar to ableton's session view. Thanks for the vid! :)
Great review Doug, and I don't care about your guitar playing. This packs sounds great. I can't wait for the drum machine and the Rosario. From the track demo's from Korg they sound incredible.
Well said, in London you can’t change the individual sound levels like you can in the sampler, makes editing the drum levels very fiddly, love the sounds though, and thanks Doug you rock!
Hi, how can I move the wave form in the timeline??? I mean , I want to start the wave from at the middle of my 4 bars, in the second bar for example...how can I move a waveform that I import?? Any hep?
Why do i always get so much feedback with zurich? And i get none with something like audioshare? I need to be able to hear the beat when i record vocals but with or without headphones i get a lot of feedback 🤔
cheifmouthnoshut If you mean the audio in my videos I use a condenser mic running through a hardware mixer going into a Tascam 8 track recorder, the audio from the iPad also goes into the mixer and the recorder so I have control over the audio in the videos, if I plug a guitar into the iPad then I use an iRig HD
+thesoundtestroom thank soundtestroom , i guess i meant more the the ipad mic quality doesnt sound like the ipads internal mic it sounds like you have a decent external mic plugged into it and i was curious how you acheive that good quality ? I am aware of how you connect a guitar . More curious about vocal audio really , how is a mic sound going from your ipad then to your mixer ? thanks , sorry for the techish question
Save As is the easiest way after the fact, but when you initially creat a new project it gives you a little pop down below the File Box, it’s called NEW and it shows the auto-generated name, you can tap in that name to change it before you start, change the name then click OK, if you want to change it after that you will need to use the Save As option, hope this helps
@@TheSoundTestRoom yep! Just as I thought! Maybe they’ll implement a simple rename function! Your video here with how to use Zurich for recording and importing audio has been monumental for me. I can now bring in audio files from all other sources and do my mixing/continuing a track all I gadget which is what I’ve always wanted. 1 more quick question when you have a moment: 1) if I’m using taipei to generate midi from an AUV3, is there a way to record that to an audio track so when I open the project later, I don’t have to deal with routing and re opening the AUV3 app again?
Unfortunately, no, the use of Taipei is only for controlling other synths, and as far as I know there is no way to re sample those sounds back into Gadget, other than recording them and importing them back into Gadget with Zurich
This is probably an obvious question. But I am getting feedback whenever I try to record. Do i have to have this track muted when I record to make it work properly? Also if I want to record vocals to a metronome, is there any way to do this without having the metronome being recorded too?
Thanks for the demo, Doug! Sounding good, my friend. Unfortunately, the click was still there after exporting to AudioShare. (Listen right at the 32-second mark.) Maybe that's something that could be edited out after the fact. I did a little research, and it turns out the locals pronounce Recife as heh-SEE-fay. I'm not Brazilian, so I would've never guessed. :) Looking forward to the Rosario demo!
Keith Messier Yeah I reckon a bit of clever editing plus you would probably have a tone of other tracks running too, and thanks for the Recife thing too, it was doing my head because I know the Gadgets are named after City's and I had never heard of that one.
Keith Messier Zurich is in Switzerland... just in case ;) and I think they choose a city there because of the well know Tape Recorder Nagra made in Switzerland? But I could be wrong.
CLICKS: When I get clicks at the end of bars if nothing proceeds the track that clicks follow it with an empty bar insert a note but set all levels to zero including the note, another trick I do is record the mixer fade out to zero on a clicking track then back up to unity to remove clicks it takes a few goes you can also draw it in as well at the end of a bar in the edit velocity pane, it can mute the following and preceding bars you have to go back in reset the volumes for the bars you want at desired volume but you only should have to do once, check it back then save.
No IAA input + I already have Cubasis = I can't figure out why I'd use Zurich. Not to mention I have to know how long I'm going to be recording for and make enough scenes in advance. Sometimes I want to just record something without worrying about how long it's going to go, and then lay down Gadget instruments over it. I'll just keep putting Gadget tracks in Cubasis and then laying down over stuff on top of it, or vice versa, etc. If I could make an audio track that inputs from another app like Samplr, and one that inputs from vocals, and audio tracks could just record and add new scenes automatically as they go along, so I could put everything together in Gadget, that might make Gadget a usable DAW for me. They're just not there yet.
My Zurich is greyed out on my Gadget? Gadget has the MIDI controls that I want unlike Cubasis. How do I get Zurich or is there some other way to import audio. Thank you Kind Sir.
Hi Slim, Zurich is an IAP so you have to buy it, but if you have already bought it just hit the RESTORE PURCHASES button, if you need to buy it just tap the ZURICH icon and it should take you to the Store page for that Gadget, hope this helps you Slim
I would love to buy it. But it won't let me. I have hit restore and that doesn't work. So what I do is hit the Functions button, hit Change in the instrument box, which then take me to the list. I scroll down to Zurich and find it greyed out; no price listed. Rosario is greyed out, Gadgets from KORG Module, Darwin, etc, etc. I guess I will look a little harder at AUM. Seems to also have the controls/commands I want to play with.
If you're trying to switch to Zurich on another instrument channel, you'll have trouble switching to either of the "audio in only" gadgets. Create a new track, rather than try to change instruments, and you should be able to use the one you've already purchased (assuming you've purchased it...).
Thanks for the advice Rob; that did the trick. Now I can go back and try to do this again now that I can get the Zurich to work. Thanks Man, I am Grateful.
I’ve found that if you start with half the bpm (for lack of better terms) your able to go beyond the normal feel of 16 bars. Like if you track is 120, start it in 60 bpm. It take twice as long to make 16 bars... in theory, Lol
Can I import a track I made (all music-drums, synth etc) Then import a vocal track (pre recorded) and autotune them so the singing is a little more in key w the music?
I just got this app. I didn’t think I was doing anything incorrectly but when I arm my Zurich gadget to record, there is a loud screeching noise and it makes it unusable. Any idea how to stop this noise? I’ll come back and finish this tutorial if I can get it to work it looks awesome!
Bluex Rain this is audio feedback, essentially your microphone is hearing itself and a strong echo is created, hence the loud ringing. Try wearing headphones while recording to avoid this
Doug - I know we've discussed this before, but you're still doing a lot of hand-waving in front of the camera. Also, the camera support is quite wobbly. Can I make a suggestion - try using a stylus to point to things and press things? The waving hand and its shadow are very distracting... The demos themselves, including this one, are always interesting and good. But the hand-waving... (do you have Italian ancestry??? ;) )
My goodness, organize your presentation please. I see you have the know-how but you got me lost several times with sooo many parenthesis and useless comments
this is great, having fun passing loops back and forth between gadget and Blocs

Cool vid, nice free update. You can import more than 16 bars btw but you can only play 16 meaning you can select different sections for each scene.
How do you move the audio sample to the right to change the beat it starts on?
Can I plug my interface into mic and record my pocket operator into Zurich?
Does this app have a problem with audio routing? I’m running mine on thru Tascam Model 16 interface. The audio I’m recording seems to go in, but it doesn’t play back.

Great to see you having so much fun. If you are the worst guitarist in the world, I'm the worst in the galaxy.
How to save your recored audio, so you can use it to a different project for example to make a remix.
Great vid, thank you Korg!

I would love Korg Zurich gadget to have an Autotune function as an Effect for Vocalists?
Hey bro! Question! Any way to change song names once they’re established without Saving as and then deleting the first one??
